@Cyrax77 I mean it's not obvious to the uninformed parent that this game is a remake, so they're wasting money on an old game that's probably going to be less fun for the kid.
@Ashunera84 If you're well-informed about the product you're probably not going to buy it. Most of the sales of games like these are probably coming from people that aren't aware that this is a remaster of an older game, and so Nintendo keeps doing it regardless of how valid the complaints are. Simply deciding for yourself doesn't really help much when the rest of the market is making dumb decisions.
@dojmin Yes, and I'd like to tell them that but they only sent it out to Expansion Pack subscribers and I refuse to pay for that overpriced garbage until it becomes FAR better value.
@PikminMarioKirby I mean almost every Switch game is $60. Far from the first time they've done this even with the barebones remasters. That being said, keep on complaining about it (and even better, not freaking buying into this chintzy crap), then maybe they'll actually quit it.
@GrailUK Considering that other remakes have run the gamut in terms of sales we don't need to see what this one does (although it probably will sell a few million because people mindlessly buying based on IP popularity). Nintendo just being greedy and the pricing structure has nothing to do with sales potential.
Disappointing but not surprising. They legit feel like these lazy remakes/remasters are worth the same as a fully new and original game. Whoever's deciding the pricing structure feels woefully out of touch.
@Rainbowfire Nah, this is on the same console for the same price as LM3. If you're going to put the two games on equal footing like that, a comparison is fair. They're asking me to spend the same amount as LM3, so I should get just as much out of this re-release as I do a new game.
@Thomystic Discounts have nothing to do with it. It's because of how the game compares to other products. First of all, remember that the original was $40. So you're paying $20 more, a 50% markup in price and all they give you is a barely noticeable graphics bump? Then consider that nearly every other game on the Switch is $60, including several far more ambitious and content rich experiences like BotW, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Smash Ultimate. So you're saying this remake of a relatively limited handheld game is worth the same amount as those masterpieces? There's nothing here that really gives the impression that this is a current gen console game worthy of full price, it feels more like they're copy/pasting the 3DS game and turning up the graphics slider (I know in terms of the work the developers are actually doing it's not actually like this, but from the consumer end that's exactly how these types of re-releases come off) and thinking "this is just like a game built from the ground up on the Switch" and it's really not. This is what the pushback against full-priced remasters is really about.
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot Can't tell if serious. Sadly, some people are like it. I don't get it. It's the same game, it just looks slightly better. Why buy it all over again?
@rvcolem1 If you thought 3 was too shallow, 2 won't change your mind. 3 was by far the deepest Luigi's Mansion game, 2 is just a series of relatively small-ish mansions that you proceed through on linear missions.
1. The Pokemon Gen 10 games are probably either going to be 2025 or 2026. I'm guessing 2026, which would be the 30th anniversary and would give Z-A and these new games time to breathe.
2. Yoshi normally would be a slam dunk soon with how long it's been since Crafted World, but Good Feel seems to have been working on other projects like Princess Peach Showtime and Mameda no Bakeru. So are we really getting a Yoshi game soon? Seems like Good Feel might be sick of Yoshi and wants to move on to other things. So is Yoshi taking a hiatus? If not, who's working on it?
3. Metroid Dread was 2021. MercurySteam has only needed about 3 or 4 years for 2D Metroid. Now maybe they push Metroid 6 a bit because of Prime 4, but all the way to 2028? Seems a tad too far. I think this may be 2026.
@YunoboCo Because there's nothing else to talk about, Nintendo's been very quiet for the first half of this year. When there's nothing confirmed to talk about, the conversation shifts to leaks and rumors until Nintendo decides to open their mouths. Luckily they've already told us a Nintendo Direct is coming this month, so shouldn't be much longer until we have something actually concrete to discuss.
I hope that's not it. "Plain" is not what a Switch successor should feel like. I want to see them add something to the concept, not just recycle it with stronger graphics.
@ManagerMagolor That's the point. It takes up space to challenge you to get through the level without relying too much on spare health and copy abilities. And I use the word "challenge" pretty liberally. It's not that hard to get through the levels with only 2/5 free spaces. Git gud.
Squeak Squad is so underrated. "Little to build upon the tried and tested Kirby formula"? Do the belly mechanics and ability scrolls not count? Those were great additions to the formula that I wish stuck around more (the ability scrolls kind of did return in Forgotten Land, but it's a bit simplified). And the belly mechanics were an excellent use of the touch screen that added a nice inventory management system to the gameplay and they came up with some great ways to play around with that, such as needing to carry the treasure through the entire level or needing to collect 3 Kirby Bubbles and combine them to obtain a 1 Up.
No, DLC has fully supplanted third versions and that works much better. No sense in spending $60 for the same game all over again with a handful of extras.
In terms of historical content? Nah, seems pointless.
What I want to see from remakes is more IN GAME content. New levels, better designed levels, new abilities, storyline improvements, etc. I want to see more FFVII-esque remakes. Remakes that feel like what the game would've been like if it was designed from the ground up in the present day instead of making it like it was in the original but with an HD coat of paint.
@TenEighty Are bronies even still a thing anymore? At the very least, that subculture has MASSIVELY dropped off in the last decade (God I feel old saying the brony fad was that long ago). I was totally into FiM in the first few seasons but got tired of it like, 2015 or 2016. Early to mid 2010's was the time to release an open world console MLP game, not now. At this point I think the vast majority of bronies have long since moved on.
@HammerKirby Just like Game Freak always does a third version for their new generation. Or they always debut on new hardware with a new generation. Oh wait...
I would've never guessed this in a million years. No Johto or Unova, we're skipping to Kalos? Also, the graphics do look like they might be improved, I do suspect this is a Switch 2 game that was forced to be delayed because the Switch 2 was delayed.
34 of them being third party or remakes. Making this lineup look better than it actually is. Bottom line this is probably going to be a near empty year for Nintendo, especially if you're a fan of first party.
@TrueBlueYoshi Almost had me for a second, but it looked too much like an OG Switch to the point where I immediately questioned it until my brain saw the title.
Yup, this isn't the hardware announcement we're waiting for.
This is the time in the generation where anything could happen, they've tended to do some wacky things around this time. I really DON'T entirely know what to predict other than:
1. I think it's going to take place in an old region. If I had to guess I'd say Unova, but there's strong arguments for Johto too. 2. Game Freak is going to have some kind of project that involves an open world and new Pokemon, forms, variants, convergents, etc.
@WiiWareWave I'm not. No one's concerned about third parties right now because we've had a steady stream of them, and I expect that will continue. The concern is here what's coming for first party, and that's where I think Nintendo's moved on internally and we're just waiting for the Switch 2 announcement to know the answer. Most of the IPs that should be ready for a new game soon (3D Mario, Mario Kart, DK, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion should all have games ready in the next 1 or 2 years) are big ones that would be better served as early entries for next gen.
@WiiWareWave Even so, there's probably little to nothing coming before launch that isn't announced. Development has likely shifted to the Switch 2 at this point. If the Switch 2 isn't coming until November, we're probably just getting 3 or 4 Switch 2 titles in November/December and that's it.
@Hirsbrunner Yes. The expectation is that they're only showing 3rd party stuff because they're revealing the Switch 2 soon (a lot of rumors saying there's going to be an event for it in March). They're not going to have a full Direct now if a next gen reveal is coming soon, most of the lineup this year will probably be Switch 2 games so they can't really reveal much about their 1st party plans until they're ready to show the Switch 2.
@Specters Yup, that's what it's all about. Gutting the actual products and IPs just so they can make their already humungous pile of money even bigger. Corporate executives have really gotten out of control.
@ZombAid82 Buying up competitors to give Nintendo and Sony less games still helps them. Also they're ruthless capitalists that only care about their bottom line (read: how much their executives are making, not the little guys actually making sure they have something to sell). They're pretty much a cancer on the industry. Always have been, always will be for as long as they remain in business.
@PipeGuy64Bit Everyone knows Microsoft doesn't care about 3D platformers. They just want to make shooty war bang games and don't really care about much of anything else.
HGSS, Zero Mission, and Samus Returns are such good choices. Definitely my Top 3. I guess I'd have to go with HGSS as my #1, but tough choice between the three.

My guess is that they're going to structure it similarly to the main story, one level from a past game and a few bosses, but they'll only pull from games that Shadow appeared in. So probably 1 stage from the Dark story in SA2, 1 stage from Heroes, 1 stage from ShTH, and 1 stage from 06.
Based on the trailer it seems we can already make out some of their choices. The trailer seems to show Final Chase from SA2 and Westopolis from ShTH, as well as boss battles with the Biolizard and Black Doom. So we might be able to rule out the possibility of Radical Highway returning from the 3DS already.
I'm curious what they might pull from Heroes and 06 though. Perhaps Egg Fleet, White Acropolis, and the 2nd battle against Mephiles (the one that takes place in Dusty Desert at the end of Shadow's story in 06)? That would be thematically appropriate.
@HammerGalladeBro I think the Shadow sections are getting more promotion because it's new content whereas anyone that's played the original Generations more or less knows what they're getting in the Sonic campaign. I don't think the Shadow campaign is going to be super long, they'd probably only feature games that Shadow had a role in which would probably just limit them to SA2, Heroes, ShTH, and 06.

And might I say for anyone that missed the 360/PS3 versions of Unleashed and Generations, you are in for a treat. These two are by far the best boost games. Some of the others like Colors and Forces were a bit gimped and the levels weren't designed well to take advantage of it, but this game you can literally boost to your heart's content (provided you have the skill to maintain it) and blast through the level incomprehensibly fast. You want to know why some Sonic fans love the boost games? You'll understand a lot more by playing this game, the ones you've probably played aren't really the ones boost fans will point to as being great.
