@BigRed40 Won't deny that the comments often attract some strong personalities, but it wasn't really about having a respectable conversation about a nuanced topic.
It was the beginning of a poopstorm gently taking off (it always begins this way) and a company scrambling to avoid getting cancelled ASAP.
@nessisonett those are all parts of a Karen. One does not need to encompass all of the qualities. "Including, but not limited to" comes to mind as a suitable sentence.
@Entrr_username I actually did, good sir. It's not necessary to ask. In this day and age, the moment you hear a whiff of something, you take action or get cancelled.
@Entrr_username What bothers me is merely that they're changing this bs because a single person took offense to it.
I'd rather play the game as it was when they released it, aka before a narrative change that wasn't in line with the vision of the game.
The team might be groveling and promising immediate change and "doing better" but that's cancel culture for ya. If you don't immediately promise to do what a possible Karen wants, they sic the Twitter police on ya.
The game is fun and entertaining in the iteration it was in at release, so I'll play it through like that.
This won't even make Fire Emblem acknowledge its existence.
Sorry, but it just doesn't look that interesting. Very generic.
If the story has a Joe Abercrombie vibe I might be interested as I'm a big fan of his work, but I'd probably just watch a playthrough for the story where I could skip through the combat segments.
@NintendoPok You might wanna just sit back and let that blood pressure fall a little bit mate.
Quite the irrational rage you're experiencing.
It is quite clear you have a grudge against Nintendo and its services.
Maybe you'd feel better if you... stopped coming to a Nintendo-focused website?
Normally I wouldn't suggest that solution, but seeing as you haven't made a single constructive comment, I'm guessing you're not here because you enjoy the Switch or Nintendo products.
People are fully aware other solutions exist, but not everybody can afford them, plus, it's nice to have everything on a platform you enjoy using. It's a no-brainer, really.
Personally I tend to buy the games on the platform they first release on, then quit OG platform and double-dip if it launches on Switch so I can play it there instead. Because I enjoy playing any game much more, if I can play it on the Switch. And no, I don't play first person shooters, don't you worry.
@Daniel36 Both features seem to be pretty hard and annoying to pull off on Switch, and using online instead seems logical considering we're in 2020.
If the franchise dies because of minor inconveniences, it wasn't that good to begin with. Harsh truths.
My favorite franchise nearly died once, it made changes that the "old fans" very vocally didn't agree with (well, part of them, I liked the changes) and skyrocketed in popularity and also became better.
(I'm talking about Fire Emblem).
If the game is good, I don't think the omission of couch and local co op will have much of an effect.
@doctorhino I mean, you can play online free forever, so I don't find it that bad to fork over a small sum of cash for the story mode. The story mode is an actual "game" in and of itself.
It's like playing an f2p multiplayer game, and if you feel like you don't just want to go ham and experience the action but also want to know more about the characters, the world, the lore and what the heck all this is really about, you can buy the single-player mode to experience that.
That's the beauty of it. They're not forcing niche content on you, they're telling you it is there for you to buy if you want to. Otherwise, you can just play the main game mode (multiplayer) as long as you want, completely free of charge.
@Ralizah Kinda the same feeling I have... I'm just not excited for more HK, but I know I'll still buy Silksong. I probably won't play it for a while, but I'm buying it day 1 to support the devs because they are incredibly incredibly talented people and deserve as much success as they can get.
I completed HK as well as path of pain and haven't returned since the lifeblood update as Godmaster really didn't appeal all that much to me (more difficult bosses with minimal impactful story), but I'll probably do the main game of Silksong and then let that stay as is as well (unless they add something truly exciting).
Other than that, I guess I'm only "excited" about Spiritfarer and Sports Story. Gonna begin playing Spiritfarer later today, yay!
@OptometristLime True, though from what I've spent the last hour reading up upon, development is going in the wrong direction, and the game is incredibly... Shallow? For lack of a better term.
They pushed through an update the 12th of August that made relics a pick at char creation meaning you can't swap them out for others if you want to change up your playstyle.
Apparently this made the game even more shallow since relics are (according to several comments) about 33% of your playstyle.
Meanwhile nearly the entire playerbase seems to want more customization and depth in every area, while the devs are trying hard to remove depth from the game... in every area.
Personally I thought it was a bit lackluster, but that might just be because none of the games (bar Spiritfarer which, idk, simply just seemed "fun" in every single way, as well as being a bittersweet experience?) really spoke to me.
I was happy to see Inmost coming soon, but then I read the review on here and as a result won't be getting the game day 1, but on a sale instead (I like properly paced games, rushing things out in the last 25% sounds bad and makes me not want to pay full price. Even if the ending is good or makes sense.)
I had very much hoped to see a Sports Story or Silksong trailer building a bit more hype for that, but I can understand Sports Story not being there as it was delayed. I've no idea how Silksong is plodding along, but it looked amazing last time I saw a trailer.
TL;DR Only 1 game that resonated with me, otherwise nothing super exciting, and the lack of meatier indies like Silksong/Sports Story made it fall a bit flat.
EDIT: And yes, I probably won't be satisfied with anything until that full fat Nintendo Direct comes. I'm sorry, but it's just been too long.
@PeterPanana Doesn't make any difference - the fees are absolutely minimal in the grand scope for large companies. From my experience the average fee is ~1.3%-2.6% of payment, and much less for bigger payments.
@judaspete In a lot of cases, losing your job is the same as losing both livelihood, home, and the life you have.
Nobody should be punished for something they've not yet been convicted of.
Maybe in the past it was fine immediately punish someone for a lot of accusations, but not today. Bandwagoning and malicious agenda is rampant, and as long as a single person accuses someone of sexual assault, you'll have droves of people coming forward to jump on the bandwagon with or without actually having had any interaction with the accused at all.
It's almost the norm nowadays - you get accused, your life is basically over. And it is stupid AF.
So yes, it has to be taken seriously - IN A COURT OF LAW. NOT OUTSIDE IT. If they've got beef, they drag him in court. Simple as that.
Everyone else should mind their own business until a verdict is in place.
@Coach_A Sit down. Breathe. Now think about where you are. Ah! It's a Nintendo News website. Not a platform for discussing consumerism and capitalism and all that other jazz.
@LillianC14 Sorry but that is just not correct. Get past the headlines sometimes, and dive into the actual meat of the content you "consume".

The world ain't black and white my friend. There are nuances of everything, and we, as human beings, are not either/or on most things.
Kek, stop pestering him folks, seriously. No, you don't need to be kept in the loop. If Platinum Games don't feel it is polished or complete enough to show off, they shouldn't show it off. And since we have nothing, it isn't, and that's that.
Just chill on this one. They, of all companies, have a great track record.
@KillerBOB Take this opportunity to reflect on yourself and why you are like this, so that YOU might become a functional human being.
Hungrybox has plenty of success both in terms of work and play. Can you call yourself an engineer with experience from some of the largest companies in the world and world champion in a competitive video game at the same time?
If not, maybe just sit down.
I'm not personally a fan of his, but he's far from dysfunctional or a "waste of oxygen" as some people might put it about people who succeed in games but nothing else. He's probably a more accomplished, functional human being than most.
I've thoroughly missed E3. I've got literally nothing to be hyped for atm as Nintendo hasn't bothered announcing anything at all, and most third parties I was expecting some buzz from have gone quiet as well.
It's been a very bad year in general. I'm sitting here hoping it's over soon tbh. E3 2021 can't come fast enough.
The energy and buzz surrounding the event and the way it kinda "forces" big companies like Nintendo to announce things in big lovely presentations with a ton of content is absolutely amazing and I hope they'll continue that trend, because the alternative (aka the 2020 way so far) has been downright depressing and while I've got many games to play, I have no games to look forward to, other than ones that are incredibly far away and have been known for a while.
It's about the single Switch game I've spent the longest amount of time on, but it's definitely getting boring. After me and my fiancée have had about 200 hours in it, we both just don't really see any more fun to have with it.
When the July summer update came out, we spent ~3-4 hours swimming around and stuff, then got bored again. We haven't touched it since (and we rounded the 200 hours in early May, then stopped playing until June where we spent ~1 hour then saw the wedding season stuff was boring, after which we waited until the July update.)
I honestly wish all content had been available from the beginning so that I could've experienced it while the game was still fun to play.
Iwata was cool and a great guy and all, but I felt at some points he was a bit too old school. One of the people holding Nintendo back from the new age, despite his many great accomplishments and contributions.
There are still people there holding Nintendo back, like whoever decided to make that nintendo phone app instead of native voice chat, and whoever decided that not being able to write to your friends was a good idea...
Hopefully they'll be convinced that their decisions were folly and embrace it sooner rather than later.
RIP Iwata though. He was quite the personality, especially within Nintendo's "public face".
> Assuming I'm attacking you > Big fan, preordered since day minus 10.000 > can't convince you to cancel pre-order, no sir > "you must be fun at parties/you sound easily aggravated/you mad bro?"
Checks out.
Doesn't matter if the plot is LotR-style or not. The plot is the plot man. Anybody who cares just a little bit about storytelling and stories would be angry if they got spoiled.
Also, I'm perfectly calm and not the least bit aggravated. Also, replying to you and telling you that your priorities (story in paper mario doesn't matter, so spoiling/being spoiled is fine) don't necessarily align with that of everybody else.
Also, in general, spoilers are always bad. Just assume that spoilers are gonna suck for somebody. Be the plot LotR or not, or the features revolutionary or bland.
You pirate the game, you play it. It's amazing. You tell your friends about it. They're also poor or unable to buy it, so they pirate it. They play it, tell their friends. The cycle continues. You spread word of mouth, you increase piracy.
Part of why it is also so damn stupid of NL to continue with these articles on piracy. If we act like it doesn't exist, the effect decreases, because I can assure you most people don't google "how can I illegally obtain this game" before finding out it's a possibility.
I honestly wouldn't call Virtuos a "port specialist". They botch every project they have. How is that being a specialist? They're just a bad porting company that murders half the stuff they release. L.A. Noire, Dark Souls etc...
Their work is honestly on par with amateurs. Who the heck releases an atmospheric dark game with tin can sound, or a game with realistic graphics running about 15-20 fps most of the time...
To be honest I couldn't care less if all I got was 20 seconds of quickfire pictures of game titles or "New Mario game (tentative title), new fire emblem game (tentative title), bayonetta 3 still alive, aiming 2020/2021, botw2 doing well, on track!". I just want to know their plans.
I'm not one of the people who have problems waiting for the actual games or care about WHEN they release. What I want to know is WHAT releases, and whether it releases (or aims to release) within the next 12 months or if its far off.

aaaaaand still waiting for a general Direct. The wait continues.
Not excited by any of this, specifically because of the insanity that is a limited availability period even for digital. It is nuts.
Re: Thunder Lotus Apologises For Ableist Storyline In Spiritfarer, Pledges To "Correct The Mistake"

This is so incredibly funny. No, Epic, we will not be joining your corporate greed scheme.
it's literally just a ploy to get more money in their pockets.
Simple quickmaffs:
$10 purchase - Apple gets $3 (30%), Epic gets $7 (70%).
Bypassing Apple platform:
$10 purchase - Apple gets $0 (0%), Epic gets $8 (100%) (post -20% discount)
Net profit for Apple:
-30%
Net profit for Epic:
+14.29%
It is 100% a move meant to increase Epic revenue.

Re: Paper Mario: The Origami King Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release
@RazumikhinPG There's plenty to spoil for people who like Paper Mario?
Like geez dude, get out of your "only what I like matters" greenhouse.
Re: Samurai Shodown's Next DLC Character Is A Crossover From Ubisoft's For Honor
@8bitdaysaweek It's a trainwreck of a game that got murdered by p2p connections (and hacking).
Amazing concept, great game execution, but complete failure of online management.
Re: Random: So Much For Level Scaling In Pokémon's Isle Of Armor DLC
@SortingHat Dude wtf... You REALLY sound like you haven't played BotW xD
Also: Zelda is alive. The one thing you NEED to do in the game is save her. Christ.
Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"
@TG16_IS_BAE Hard pass! Someone has to teach the heathens what is wrong and what is right my dear
Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"
@setezerocinco Wrong. The maker always gets hurt.
Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"
@TG16_IS_BAE There's no argument in it. It's just a fact.
You can come up with any argument under the sun, but the fact is you bought a Switch, not a random tablet meant for general use.
The Switch is designed specifically for use with Nintendo's OS and software, and nothing else.
Buy a generic tablet if you wanna fiddle with things.
Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"
"a copyright-infringing ring of software pirates" is exactly what they are.
Rain hellfire, Nintendo. Rain. Hellfire.
Go grab a random tablet if you want to mod and pirate so desperately. The Switch is a Switch, period.
If the software did absolutely nothing but let people back up their saves and did not screw with anything, I'd say go ahead. But this is a nope.
Re: Feature: XCOM 2 Collection Port Specialists Virtuos On Bringing The Series To Switch
You just know it doesn't work.
Re: Excellent Digital Art Software Colors! Is Making A Grand Comeback On Nintendo Switch
Backed it right away. Looks great, can't wait to test it.
Re: We Won't Get A Nintendo Direct This June For E3, Says Report
To be honest I couldn't care less if all I got was 20 seconds of quickfire pictures of game titles or "New Mario game (tentative title), new fire emblem game (tentative title), bayonetta 3 still alive, aiming 2020/2021, botw2 doing well, on track!". I just want to know their plans.
I'm not one of the people who have problems waiting for the actual games or care about WHEN they release. What I want to know is WHAT releases, and whether it releases (or aims to release) within the next 12 months or if its far off.
It's not a hard thing to show.
Re: Ninjala Datamine Suggests A Sonic The Hedgehog Collab Might Be Happening
@Liam_Doolan I'm sorry but could you in the future not write out spoilers in the headline?
"Ninjala Datamine Suggests A Collab Might Be Happening" lets me choose whether I want to know or not.
Instead you took my present that I wasn't allowed to unwrap until Christmas, unwrapped it and threw it at me.
I come here for regular news, and usually you guys don't screw people over like this.
Granted, this is a rumor and nothing major, but it doesn't hurt to be considerate.
Re: Random: Track Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Progress With This Fun Bingo Card
Uh... Bingo about the only thing I haven't done is get all the villagers I want.
Currently have(of the ones I want): Francine, Beau, Mira, Fauna, Ankha, Dora, Agent S.
Currently missing: Judy, Lucky, Whitney.
Doing well so far though haha.
I've got about 130 hours in the game atm.
