New stock of the lovely but elusive Animal Crossing-themed Switch console appeared in Australia this morning, but sold out within a matter of minutes.
Since launching alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this fancy Switch system has been incredibly hard to find in the wild. Limited restocks have previously been promised in the region, giving fans hope that they might well be able to claim one, but it would appear that stock levels are still a long way away from meeting demand.
This morning's stock was spotted by Vooks, who then reported that it had sold out again just two minutes later.
Back in March, a product description spotted on Nintendo's Hong Kong website suggested that more systems would be produced in the future, stating that the units "are not limited in quantity". We sure hope that a major restock is indeed on the way, but if you're desperate to get your hands on one, we'd encourage you to keep a keen eye on all major retailers and jump on one if you get the chance.
Have you had any luck tracking down an Animal Crossing Switch? Are you still on the lookout? Tell us below.

The Switch is a beast everywhere, at this point Nintendo could have nothing new at all for the rest of this year, and the console will still sell out.
There was a big shipment of them a couple of months ago that also sold out pretty quick but anyone who still really wanted one and paying attention should have had enough opportunity to grab one.
Personally I just preordered mine well before launch. No reason to take the risk of missing out in the first place.
I did like the look of the Animal Crossing Switch at first but when I thought about it realised the colour just doesn't go with the other stuff around it like my TV and other consoles. Also don't want to buy Animal Crossing so glad I didn't get one as an impulse buy.
Looks like people who want one will get one eventually.
The white bits on my Animal Crossing joycons have all gone a kind of grubby red, which is a shame.
@Coach_A ?
@johnvboy please dont give Nintendo Ideas
@BenAV why did you need a (I assume) secondary Switch? Outside of the fact it's a "rare collectible" there is no reason other than to attempt to satiate an insatiable void of desire that we culturally accept as consumerism.
@Coach_A I'm not much of a collector outside of what I actually plan to play and use. I still had the original model Switch and it was a good opportunity to upgrade to one with a longer battery that also happens to look nice. Traded in my old Switch in the process.
On a similar note, while I loved the look and feel of the switch lite, I could not justify buying another switch. Maybe someday, but not soon. Also, the fact that ACNH is not easily transferable between systems.
Everything Nintendo special edition will sell out every time because of resellers. Every time. Every. Time. Did I say every time?
You could buy one right now from Japan.
@Coach_A in the words of Mark Corrigan from Peep Show, "It's only the miracle of consumer capitalism that means you're not lying in your own s**t, dying at 43 with rotten teeth".
@oatmaster if you believe that, you have a very narrow perspective on reality.
@Coach_A I don't, not exactly, but I certainly find it tiresome when people moan about consumerism while, presumably, occasionally drinking tea or coffee.
@oatmaster so you're equating mass consumption of non-necessary electronic entertainment devices with drinking a hot beverage, presumably because of history relating to the production and mass exploitation of the working class to provide such goods and services to people en masse? Yet that somehow **justifies** consumerism and capitalist culture?
@Coach_A Sit down. Breathe. Now think about where you are. Ah! It's a Nintendo News website. Not a platform for discussing consumerism and capitalism and all that other jazz.
@Coach_A it doesn't justify it, it is it. You're inventing arguments I'm not making. Getting a secondary Switch because it looks pretty is as pointless and unnecessary as drinking tea and coffee. And yet, look at the things we all get up to.
@oatmaster false equivalence fallacy
@Coach_A don't see how, unless you're specifically arguing against the aspect of consumerism that is reskinning Nintendo Switches rather than consumerism in general. Would seem a bit of an odd stance to take but then we are all morally complex beings who hold all sorts of views that would appear mutually contradictory so I'll give you that.
Edit to add: it's impossible for me to see the word 'fallacy' without thinking about Pratchett describing the idea of a witch's broomstick being one of them sexual metaphors as a phallusy.
@oatmaster despite our disagreements, thanks for being civil.
Appreciate it
@Bunkerneath,
Good point.
I mean, is anyone truly surprised by this? We all knew the outcome before it even went on sale
It's a beautiful little system. If I was more well-off, I'd probably pick one up at some point as well.
@johnvboy pandemic and Animal Crossing
