@somebread The original voice of Phoenix Wright was literally "OBJECTION". A few other utterances too. I've played every Phoenix Wright game through 4+ times and I had absolutely no idea.
Sorry Reggie, but you're wrong on this one. We won't have world-encompassing amazing internet infrastructure within the next 50+ years for sure. The future of games is, as it always has been, in them being directly on your device, whether physical or digital. Never cloud.
@PickledKong64 No problem. As far as I know the online for peach beach is pretty dead atm, though you should easily be able to find people to play with if you join the senran kagura discord (google senran international academy) - it's a matter of using discord for matchmaking since there's probably only few people doing random matches.
@PickledKong64 Story-wise, Senran Kagura Burst (It's also a nice 2d sidescrolling brawler) and Senran Kagura 2. Most of the playstation stuff isn't really good with story, or just recaps it while leaving some stuff out. Other than that, the best combat is found in Shinovi Versus, and the most solid systems in Estival Versus.
Playing all the games is recommended if you're interested in the story. The girls have deep personalities (and no, it's not a pun, and I'm not joking. I got into SK for the visuals, no doubt about it, and I stayed for the lore and characters.)
@BenAV What do you dislike about dynamax/gigantamax specifically?
I'm just curious. For me it's an amazing mechanic because it provides some much needed bulk to many of my favorite sweepers, enabling strategies previously unthinkable due to the low chance of said sweeper(s) surviving setup or being threatened too hard by basic moves.
Oof, I enjoyed the Live2D segments, but the moment they showed combat... Hard pass. The game simply looks like they added combat as an afterthought. It looks bland and boring.
Tbh I usually cakewalk through Pokémon games, but not Sword/Shield. Found everything sufficiently hard as long as I did not grind or spammed consumables endlessly.
@KingBowser86 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, good one man. You haven't bought a game since Emerald.
That's gen 3 man. Petty? Look who is being petty. Wew. Doesn't buy or play the games, gets opinions forced down his throat by Youtube videos and adopts them as his own, then actually goes onto articles regarding a franchise he doesn't deal with at all and pulls several rabbits out of his behind.
@Ralizah Yeah it is noticeable... at times. I really don't find it super noticeable all the time. Also, the moment you get into stuff like camping, battles, max raids and such, it's just incredibly beautiful, not to mention some of the smaller towns (and shroom heaven) are just gorgeous.
It has its flaws, but it's by no means an ugly game at all. It looks very nice most of the time.
@Bondi_Surfer Idk if you've got eyes in your head my man, but if the new Pokémon games look terrible to you... Yikes.
Better head over to XB1X/PS4Pro then.
They genuinely look excellent (with some rough edges here and there in certain areas), and there is so much personality in the games. Playing them truly is a joy, and I could fetch you like 100+ videos of how charming they are, but you'd probably not watch them.
EDIT: The main issue aesthetically is the Wild Area which keeps popping in things. Anywhere else it is great.
@Ashunera84 Ikr, people keep saying they lied and post all these models that are identical as proof, but... In reality that's just a testament to the quality of Game Freaks work. It means they were able to 1:1 produce the same models without being able to do anything but rebuild them from scratch.
All these non-devs feel incredibly entitled for no reason.
@Mr_Muscle The funny thing is I don't mindlessly buy Pokémon games no matter what. I informed myself regarding Sword/Shield, liked what I saw, and bought it. Now I'm playing and enjoying it, and feeling my purchase was easily justified.
@MrGawain Gee, I don't know, maybe? I'm pretty sure I've heard of the word before at least. But the concept? I'm not entirely sure. Perhaps?
I certainly have had positive experiences figuring out the concepts of other things over the years.
Once, I was struggling to figure out how lightning works, but then it struck me.
I also once saw a documentary on how ships are kept together. It was riveting!
I've also had interactions with other concepts. Today, my son asked "Can I have a book mark?" and I burst into tears. 10 years old and he still doesn't know my name is John. Needless to say, he made me feel like a mere page.
Finally, I'll leave you with a fun fact: Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
@Spanjard If you had read my comment, you'd know that is not what I was trying to say. My comment was, as you could've read, directed at the fact that they have the same misconception a lot of other companies have, that Nintendo's users are generally "younger", which is untrue. They look at the goofy cartoonish lighthearted games and think "that's what the kids play!", when in reality the kids are busy playing FIFA/GTA5/Battlefield/Call of Duty on their PS4s.
As I also wrote (which you didn't read) was that I disagreed with HALF of the statements. I proceeded to write which statements I agreed with (that the Switch is a primary console, not secondary, and that simultaneous releases on Switch and other platforms should be expected AND the norm), then wrote what I disagreed with.
I'm sorry if I come off as rude, but everything I've just clarified is literally in the comment I made, plain as day.
@nhSnork You've probably either never heard quality sound or not played the game on Switch then.
EDIT: Seems like most of the issues have been patched. Forgive me, I played through it (for the millionth time) during its release, where it got two patches where one did nothing and the 2nd fixed the issue in SOME places. Went to a few different places after updating the game again a few minutes ago, and the sound is indeed better, but still a bit grating in anor londo and a few later places like oolacile.
EDIT END
Did you play L.A. Noire docked or undocked? I played purely undocked, and the fps kept dipping frequently, which was pretty annoying.
I have not played Starlink which is why I didn't comment on it. I have not played Bloodstained either, buuut I dare say that when the game (obviously hearsay) crashes seemingly at random, that it has great issues.
I never stated any of the games are unplayable or anything of the sort. I just stated that they're low effort ports, which they are.
@Cosats I played L.A. Noire you goof. And yes, it did struggle with performance most of the game, at least in handheld mode. I never play docked, so I wouldn't know how it works there. Constant fps dips were a great annoyance.
@tanasten Motion control should be a thing in every shooter on every platform tbh. I wouldn't call that an extra feature, but rather call it "lacking basic functionality" if a shooter didn't have it.
I mean... These are just hollow words. Pun intended.
Virtuos is literal garbage when it comes to ports. They're actually terrible.
Dark Souls Remastered was a low effort port with terrible tin can sound and they didn't even bother to reverse the confirm/cancel prompts (which is easy as heck to do without spoiling the combat input layout).
L.A. Noire struggled with performance in most sections of the game, and the game could EASILY run on the Switch if optimized properly.
Virtuos are garbage, and I hope they never get to port anything to Switch again. Leave it to the pros or people who actually bother.
I don't really agree with half of his statements...
Yes, the Switch is a primary platform, like all the others. Not secondary.
Simultaneous release? Sure.
But saying that the audience on Switch is younger? BIG NO. I refuse to believe that. Playing a lot of online games with communication etc inside huge Switch discords and other chats shows you that most people are actually adults. Meanwhile, enter any game on ps4/xb1... Yeah. Kids galore. In general I've found the Switch community to be more mature than the ps4/xb1 communities. Been part of them all, too.
I also don't think special features and extra content is necessary, or a particularly good idea unless you want people to grow dissatisfied with a title (unless it's a Switch exclusive). Look at how many people are not just jealous but downright spitting raw hatred at the DQ devs for only letting Switch owners have extra features.
Of course, including these features on ALL consoles in their own way (aka no limitation on content for sure) wouldn't be a bad thing.
@carlos82 Except that's a gross exaggeration and a poor attempt at diminishing the issue.
Yes, it could be Diglett not making the cut, and by extension Dugtrio.
For some that would be a Pokémon they'd never use anyway. To others it would be their favorite Pokémon. If Absol doesn't make it into Sword/Shield, I'll be super disappointed because it is my favorite Pokémon and has remained that since I first laid eyes upon it.
Playing the game without Absol makes it less enjoyable. Simple as that.
As for it playing the same way, idk what is up with people, but innovation is good. We're still just gonna get 8 gyms and nothing more though, for sure.
Personally I always hated HMs, I'd always have a HM slave (or several) and it felt so pointless.
I think it's a good thing to remove. But I still want them to kinda continue down the road with the concept of "keys" to "doors" and maybe instead include some fun puzzle-like quests with mysteries to uncover.

@BAN IKR, my thoughts exactly. Who are these people, and why in the world is it newsworthy?
No-name studio and a bunch of no-names.

Glad that didn't happen. The games are so much more than breasts.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Outsell Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee In Just 10 Days (Japan)
@Galenmereth I guess so.
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Outsell Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee In Just 10 Days (Japan)
A pretty obvious feat if you ask me. Let's Go were poor Pokémon games for fans of the franchise, while Sword and Shield are excellent games for fans.
Let's Go was an introductory experience for people new to the franchise, and Pokémon Go players.

And I'm the petty one?
Re: The Pokémon Company Is Taking Legal Action Against Sword And Shield Leakers
@KingBowser86 You're just mad because they took your lollipop and said you'd have to wait until later to get it.
Games are great, and that's that.
Re: The Pokémon Company Is Taking Legal Action Against Sword And Shield Leakers
@KingBowser86 None of that matters when the sales are top notch and reviews are favourable.
See, for companies, those things are a faint buzzing in the background.
When they print money, they think they're doing well.
Which they usually are.
They're printing money with Sword/Shield.
Games are great.
They made satisfactory games.
It's pretty simple, really.
Re: The Pokémon Company Is Taking Legal Action Against Sword And Shield Leakers
@KingBowser86 Except the sales and reviews tell you otherwise.
Regardless of your personal feelings, they made satisfactory games, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Re: Cutesy Co-Op Dungeon-Crawler Riverbond Arrives On Switch Next Month
Voxel. No.
(Hope the people who can get past voxel graphics enjoy it though. I just can't deal with that.)
Re: The Pokémon Company Is Taking Legal Action Against Sword And Shield Leakers
@KingBowser86 They did make a satisfactory game though. Sword/Shield are great
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Is The Fastest-Selling Switch Game Yet
@Ralek85 We'll agree to disagree completely there. Voiceover would've been nice, but it's never been a thing in Pokémon, so not expected.
As for the rest, eh, I disagree. Simply put.
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Is The Fastest-Selling Switch Game Yet
@Ralizah Yeah it is noticeable... at times. I really don't find it super noticeable all the time. Also, the moment you get into stuff like camping, battles, max raids and such, it's just incredibly beautiful, not to mention some of the smaller towns (and shroom heaven) are just gorgeous.

@Mr_Muscle Dry your tears crybaby.
Just because you dislike the games or think they are bad, doesn't mean I have to.
I think they're excellent Pokémon games.
Re: Of Course Pokémon Sword And Shield Is Getting Review-Bombed
Personal opinion: The game is a ton of fun and it's just as lovely as all the other main series Pokémon games.
I love it, Sword is quickly becoming my favorite Pokémon game.

I grabbed Sword.

@MrGawain Except he probably doesn't have drift, and it's not really relevant to write about that here either.

Re: Nintendo Reveals The Switch eShop's Most Popular Games For September 2019 (Europe)
I had most of the games I'd have wanted to get. The ones I didn't have and didn't get are:
1. Zelda: Link’s Awakening
2. Untitled Goose Game
3. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
4. Minecraft
7. Bastion
9. Stardew Valley
10. Cuphead
12. Torchlight II
13. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
14. Undertale
15. Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
I'll probably buy Untitled Goose Game before the discount disappears, and Undertale/Bastion/Ori.
Won't be buying the rest, they're not my kind of games (well #1 would've been, but the art style is just... No.)
