I’m currently going back into some of my fave games of the Switch One era. At the minute I’m on racing games and golf games so playing Easy Come and Easy Golf to chill after work and then playing one of - IMHO - the best games on Switch which is Mantis Burn Racing.

Nintendo are not exactly well known for price cuts on their hardware but they may do that I guess.
Nintendo need to make sure the Switch 2 is out by June/July - if they leave it much later, they may just find people lose interest.

I can’t see any reason why they would leave any later but then Nintendo often do what nobody expects!

EA have become far too cocky in recent years and the failure to hold the FIFA license spoke volumes.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we see them swallowed up by Xbox tbh.
EA are complacent and are now paying the price .

@Olliemar28 Yeah I think the same. The demos run into early June so third week of June is my guess. But can’t wait!!

@burndive Nintendo isn’t and hasn’t confused anyone. The leakers have done that. TBH I don’t care too much what it is for. It will be a great sequel console and I can’t wait. Sadly there will be people who will moan and say it’s not good enough but they need to get a life!

It’s Switch 2. More of the same but better. Which is exactly what they needed to do and will be what we get!

This just feels like one of the most pessimistic articles I have read in a very long time. Nobody expected something totally different. Is this a ‘safe’ move? Maybe it is but why not? Why go out of the way to take a huge risk?

I expect it will release June 2025. 2 months from reveal to direct and then 2 months from Direct to release. Let’s a go!

Nintendo didn’t need a new invention or anything like that. A more powerful Switch with backwards compatibility is what is needed! And that’s what we will get and it will sell very well. It won’t reach OG Switch levels - the pandemic helped drive mega sales - but it will still be a huge success.

@8bit-Man That’s because you are looking at an OG Switch games! It’s a video from MK8 Deluxe. It’s not a new game.

That’s Mario Kart 8 deluxe from one of the videos that’s playing. We may well get 9 but that wasn’t it.

Huge NEWS…… Nintendo have cancelled the Switch 2 and will keep releasing games on the OG Switch for another twenty years. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is expected to remain in the top ten of sales charts until at least 3024.

@anoyonmus Pretty much all Xbox games will go multi platform. Xbox want cloud and make money from sales on other platforms.

The problem with this word ‘Insider’ is that they are not insiders. They just ordinary people like us that make shed loads of guesses across 13 months and maybe 1 or 2 come off.

Thats not inside information , it’s more law of averages. They should think about getting one of those things called a job.

That would be awesome!!! Can see a whole raft of Xbox games coming to Switch. Xbox will make mega money from doing third party and will sell loads on Switch 2.

Interesting they say that it’s not official rather than saying it’s not true. Maybe Nintendo are letting others do the hype for them and will do their own thing sometime before March 31st.

There is a danger however that the hype becomes boredom and by the time it is officially revealed, people have moved on and can’t be bothered anymore. It’s a fine line for Nintendo to tread but I suspect their shareholders will be brutal with them and say they do not want another Wii U situation.

So maybe a touch of caution is necessary.

I think this will still sell incredibly well and it will overtake Xbox Series sales very quickly indeed. BUT, I do also believe that they need to launch on April. They’ve left it a long time now and with Xbox set to release their next gen console in 2026 (very likely) PS working on their next move, Nintendo need to gain traction asap.

The key thing is going to be backwards compatibility and power - this time round, people will be less tolerant of power that means too many games don’t run well enough.

Come on Nintendo - it’s time to stop playing games - irony intended - and get this thing going!!

Switch 2 to launch May or June. One or , maybe 2 Call of Duty games to arrive. New 3D Mario. Will be interesting to see if Forza, Indiana Jones appear from Xbox as well.
Should be a stellar year for Nintendo.

It seems more and more likely that the Switch 2 is just going to be a slight upgrade on the current model and with so many handhelds now out there, something that is just more of the same isn’t going to wash with many because people want more now.
More power, more ingenuity.

@sanderev They might just reveal the consoles existence and codename. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it doesn’t release until 2026 although if that does happen, it will be a huge error.

@Minako-Meleph I doubt many hardcore gamers are sat waiting for a Switch 2 right now tbh. They will be waiting for a Steam Deck 2 or something like that. Switch is no longer unique and handhelds are a big part of the future.
Nintendo fans will be all over it and it will do well but I would be surprised if the Switch 2 gets anywhere close to the OG sales.
The pandemic helped the Switch in many ways - it was the perfect console for that time but unless you want Nintendo IP, it’s not going to be as relevant.

@KBuckley27 Good point. It could just be a case of yes, we have a new console in production and this will be easy for sale in 2026. We will announce more later this year. And that’s all they have to do essentially. They have said they will reveal details but that could be a full reveal, a part reveal or just a concept.

@AnonyQ Maybe. I don’t think we will see it before holiday 2025. Either way, I already think they have left any reveal far too late.

@Jeronan They won’t. They will wait and release it holiday 2025 but I don’t expect it will get close the OG model.

I can’t see Series X and PS5 ports being much fun as the next model looks like it will be nothing more than a minor re iteration.

@CupidStunt That would be the most sensible option but with sales down, there is no chance they will do that. It’s just not what Nintendo do

Of course sales are grinding to a halt. Everyone knows that the next console is coming in 2025, so buying an OG Switch now makes little sense. Price wise it will be similar so many will hold off for the next model and get it next Xmas when it will be available.

@OldGamer999 Agreed. By time it releases we will have other handheld options and it will look even more lacking in power than the current model.
Had to be a 2024 release IMHO and late 2025 could be a bad move.

@Minako-Meleph They are unlikely to reveal in January after Xmas would be a bad move and put off potential customers. March seems most likely now with holiday 2025 being release date.

I have said for some time that the reveal will be in March 2025 with a holiday 2025 release. Personally, I think that will be far too late and there will be so many handhelds and better powered units that will mean the Switch will only be for Nintendo fans.
The uniqueness of the Switch is now no longer unique and if AAA games can’t be ported at a high enough quality, I just feel that March next year will
be too late.
The pandemic helped Nintendo a lot with people staying at home but it as it sounds it will be, the next Switch is merely a minor upgrade, I just can’t be convinced that it will be anywhere near as successful as the current model has been.

Nintendo needed to reveal when the hype was at its highest. Right now, apathy has set in and Switch 2 will need to offer something huge to do well.

Have been playing for some time now and it’s brilliant but boy, as the review states, is it unforgiving . You make an error and you are punished. And then some!

It’s a cute concept as per Nintendo but hearing coins as I fidget, trying to get to sleep is a no go for me!!!! It will of course sell like hot cakes and make a perfect collectors piece!
