Re: Review: Little Big Adventure - Twinsen's Quest (Switch) - Charisma & Quirkiness Can't Quite Carry A Cult Classic

@Zealv2 @Contes don't get put off by the old demo on Steam. The currently available game is much more pleasant and polished than that old play test. While I agree there's a missed opportunity for the mood system (personally I thought putting a mood pro shoulder button or pro cross button would have worked great), the game gives me the same chills I had as a kid playing the original. I'm almost done with it now and I have yet to trigger any of the bug the reviewer claims to have seen. There still is a little lack of polish, though nothing that can't be fixed with a patch.
Then again the original was at its time still clunky and lacked polished in some areas, despite how we might remember it to be.

I'm having a blast besides the disappointment of the mood system being removed. Looking forward to the second remake. Until then I'll replay the original LBA2, which is still one of my favourite games.

Re: Broken Sword - Shadow Of The Templars Gets Updated Switch Release Date

@JohnnyMind they either get a different provider or just different source. Tbh I think the Amazon.de date is more of a placeholder date rather than a real one (like when they say a game comes out on Dec. or Mai 31st.).

And you should definitely play FF9, but not that awful port we got recently. If you can emulate the original, you get better soundtrack (the ports all have sounds issues), better UI, no mix of badly upscaled backgrounds with sharp 3D. Or if you can, FF9 PC modded with the original UI and the Moguri Mod.

Re: Feature: The History Of SaGa, Square's Weirdest, Bravest RPG Series

Astropez

Loved SaGa since the first on the Gameboy. It's also the only game series that Square has that they haven't ***** up yet.
I'm really glad they give the license a fair shot, and I'm looking forward to a remaster of Unlimited SaGa. Despite somehow being considered the black sheep of the series, it's actually the most complete and interesting of them, though the first hours are really hardcore.

Re: Review: Ys X: Nordics (Switch) - Another Great Entry, Though We're Not Sold On The Sailing

Astropez

@GoldenSunRM issue with 9 is really the same as Trails: one chapter, one character, one part of town/prison. Adding the girl who keeps telling you that she knows everything but can't tell you (she doesn't want rather), and the moral of each chapter (really? You open a flower shop to help poor people out of their poverty instead of actually giving them what they need ????). The action part wasn't that bad but god the writing was so *****. I know NES games with much better writing and character development

Re: Review: Ys X: Nordics (Switch) - Another Great Entry, Though We're Not Sold On The Sailing

Astropez

@GameName every Ys up to Seven were similar to Oath in Felgahna. Seven stirred things a bit but 8 and 9 were definitely different kind of games as the team in charge of Trails started to pollute the series and Falcom interpreted (wrongly) the good sales as Ys fan wanting more Trails and less Ys.
On Switch you can find the best of the old school Ys, Origins. It's often on sales on the eShop

Re: Review: Ys X: Nordics (Switch) - Another Great Entry, Though We're Not Sold On The Sailing

Astropez

How is the script compared to 8-9? They were the definite "no-go" for me, marking a clear line from "We don't want to do Ys anymore" to "We want to make Trails but action". And god I hate Trails.

I see they backed from the party-based combat which is a good start, but are the dialogs bloated like in Ys 8-9 and all Trails, or is it back to the good old Ys where action and exploration were king?

Re: Nintendo Patents Filed After Palworld's Release Suggest Lawsuit Prep Started Months Ago

Astropez

I wish gaming journalist would stop spreading rumours and behave as if they were actual journalists, who should rely solely on facts.

Fact: Nintendo files a patent lawsuit against PocketPair. We do not know which patents

Not Fact: this entire article claiming to know which patents and throwing oil on the fire.

Now if it turns out to be true then the fact should be announced when the knowledge is actually there, but at this stage, articles like this are really just pure *****.
I guess Game Journalism is really not about truth anymore (like regular journalism?) but only about what makes more clicks. What world do we live in.

Re: Romancing SaGa 2 3D Remake Scores A Switch eShop Demo

Astropez

@Pillowpants the newest ones (Emerald and Scarlet) are more friendly for newcomers, especially because they explain their mechanics a lot better than the previous ones where everything is either not or poorly explained.

While I'm happy this games get a full remake, I'd rather have had the two missing remasters, especially UnlimiteD which got bashed for no good reasons. It's a really deep and complete game.

Re: Mailbox: The Mario RPG-naissance, Xenosaga Sadness, Golden Days - Nintendo Life Letters

Astropez

@FX29
Actually, the remasters for BK made a lot more sense than XenoSaga, as well as losing that horrible English dub. First because BK has a lot more praise overall, including on its battle system, whereas XenoSagas are basically glorified Visual Novels where the battle system is so poor it's embarrassing and the player is interrupted every 10min with 2h of cutscenes. Secondly, the story for BK is complete, which is not the case of Xenosaga who has so many plotholes. XenoSaga got somewhat of a reputation from a loud minority, but they're actually far from being good games besides the technical side.
