Re: Acclaimed Arcade Racer 'Horizon Chase Turbo' Being Delisted From Switch eShop

Aquinas

"From the 1st June 2026, both the original game's release and the enhanced Turbo version — which is the one you can snap up on Switch — will no longer be available to purchase from the eShop and other digital storefront, the developer on social media (thanks, Wario64!)." What kind of sentence is this? Is NintendoLife using AI to write things...?

Anyway, never heard of this game myself. Sucks about layoffs though.

Re: Investor Who Urged Nintendo To Monetise Mario's Jumps Acquires Shares In Kadokawa

@Friendly Indeed. And the fix has to be on a personal level, as your very words indicate. If we add more rules, and people simply break them (or, more realistically, bend/go around them) then all we do is tie the hands of those who are willing to obey the insane number of rules we created.

It has to change on a deeper level than that, or we wind up in exactly the place we are now.

So we do the best we can!

Edit: if nothing else, one thing we can know for sure: Lyndis is the best and should be in more Fire Emblem games.

@Friendly Well if prevention worked we wouldn't see the outcomes we do. You yourself gave examples of it happening, hence we can rule out that as a successful method.

Unless you want to retcon and turn to a "oh but it wasn't REALLY tried" No-True-Scotsman style.

In any case, the solution should be the people, not someone with a big stick saying "do what I say or I'll hit you." And if the people want trash? Well, that's what they want.

Re: Opinion: Is Winds & Waves Just 'Pokémon: Tears Of The Kingdom'?

Aquinas

@MegaVel91 "Especially considering they have another title they're trying to push out during all of this in collaboration with other studios, and the fact Winds and Waves looks graphically a step up from both ScarVi and ZA... which isn't saying much but it's still there."

Yeah, they updated the graphics so now it looks almost halfway as decent as a Switch 1 game! Score! Not better, and not Switch 2 level, but ALMOST like a decent Switch 1 game, at least. Thanks, GameFreak! We appreciate your hard work.

But you're def right about their other game in development, they are clearly only cash-grabbers when it comes to their "most famous IP on earth" series. My bad. (Thanks, GameFreak!)

"I am as delusional as a Pombon"

Definitely a fair assessment given some of these hopes.

Hope is good when it is reasonable, and not so good when it is delusional. This is GameFreak, folks. This will be another shoddy cash-grab. It is what they DO.

Edit: Doesn't mean it can't still be fun, but we should leave our delusions of grandeur at the door.

Re: Fashion Dreamer For Switch Shutting Down Online Mode Next Week

I did not play this, but I really wish developers/publishers gave more warning across the board for this sort of thing. Like, either annouce it two years ago, or support it until 2028 and tell people about that coming now.

This modern practice is a kick in the crotch to fans of the thing being shut down.

Re: "I Need A Union Contract To Feel Safe" - Mega Man 11 Voice Actor Not Returning For Dual Override

Aquinas

At this point you aren't going to stop AI, that ship has sailed. Fighting it 10 years ago might have produced actual results - now you are just punishing fans by refusing to work as the ship sinks. And what good will it legitimately DO? None. It is one thing to take a stand in order to accomplish something; quite another to pretend you are making a difference when in fact your behavior is doing absolutely nothing. Your position is beyond easily replaced; a line of people are waiting behind you. Do your job, do it well, and have your work actually produce results.

Let the work be its own reward - a job well done will always outlive a temporary contract. Pretending you're a martyr when the war is long over is just empty noise.

Edit: Also let's never forget it is the consumers who want cheap (often free) entertainment and media handed to them on a silver platter that allows for these things to happen. Companies, big or small, cannot live if consumers don't fork over money to them. That is the real solution, not unions which literally allow the giant companies to keep finding new ways to screw people. Unions are part of the massive system, not a solution to it. The people are the solution, if a solution is actually desired (spoilers: it isn't, as proven by the mass consumer). One of the biggest con jobs of all time has been unions convincing the masses that they ARE "the people." They are as much "the people" as Capcom is "the people" lol.
