The point of commercials/trailers/etc is to sell tickets. This will sell tickets, so it is a smart move. "Saving it for the fans" does not sell tickets.
@GGsGameRoom If it was cheaper I probably would have already. I can justify $70 for DK Bananza, but not for something like this. Maybe 30, but not much more for a game like "small cozy sim" game like this.
@Anti-Matter As an artist myself, this is not creation, it is playing existing entertainment. Creation is where you pick up a brush and paint and make something new, not play a video game someone else already made. The developer created something.
Tarrifs stink, but better to have them on frivolous entertainment than real, necessary goods and services. By all means tarrif/tax the snot out of luxury items - but please make freaking food and healthcare AFFORDABLE for people.
"From the 1st June 2026, both the original game's release and the enhanced Turbo version — which is the one you can snap up on Switch — will no longer be available to purchase from the eShop and other digital storefront, the developer on social media (thanks, Wario64!)." What kind of sentence is this? Is NintendoLife using AI to write things...?
Anyway, never heard of this game myself. Sucks about layoffs though.
@Friendly I am in that top percentage, so maybe don't assume crap about people. I purposefully try to obey the rules so as to not be lumped in with others by people who make assumptions about folks they don't even know. Maybe it isn't as black and white as you'd love it to be so you could stay in your self-made bubble.
That sucks. Donkey Kong Bananza itself is one of the best games in decades, and yet isn't able to help this. Consumers are the worst. They want trash instead of masterpieces.
@Friendly Indeed. And the fix has to be on a personal level, as your very words indicate. If we add more rules, and people simply break them (or, more realistically, bend/go around them) then all we do is tie the hands of those who are willing to obey the insane number of rules we created.
It has to change on a deeper level than that, or we wind up in exactly the place we are now.
So we do the best we can!
Edit: if nothing else, one thing we can know for sure: Lyndis is the best and should be in more Fire Emblem games.
I tried to go back to NH with the update, but I've simply had my fill of this version. I'd love a new one, but updates aren't going to keep me at this point.
@Friendly Well if prevention worked we wouldn't see the outcomes we do. You yourself gave examples of it happening, hence we can rule out that as a successful method.
Unless you want to retcon and turn to a "oh but it wasn't REALLY tried" No-True-Scotsman style.
In any case, the solution should be the people, not someone with a big stick saying "do what I say or I'll hit you." And if the people want trash? Well, that's what they want.
@Friendly Then the people should get what they support, and if what they get sucks they should learn from their mistakes. Otherwise how will anyone ever learn, if things are simply handled for them?
I am very glad I do not support any "free" to play trash. If everyone gets on board with that, we could eliminate it.
@Friendly Or you could get consumers to not support garbage with their money (which makes it unprofitable, so then no company does it!) instead of regulating things from the top down. The good way to do it - power to and from the people.
@MegaVel91 "Especially considering they have another title they're trying to push out during all of this in collaboration with other studios, and the fact Winds and Waves looks graphically a step up from both ScarVi and ZA... which isn't saying much but it's still there."
Yeah, they updated the graphics so now it looks almost halfway as decent as a Switch 1 game! Score! Not better, and not Switch 2 level, but ALMOST like a decent Switch 1 game, at least. Thanks, GameFreak! We appreciate your hard work.
But you're def right about their other game in development, they are clearly only cash-grabbers when it comes to their "most famous IP on earth" series. My bad. (Thanks, GameFreak!)
@GrailUK I'm trying to think of any time, ever, that "moving around" has been fun in a Pokemon game. As far as I can remember it has always been extremely mundane and practical. Even the bike was just "now I can get where I'm going faster than before." Mario this series ain't.
@Axecon Arceus was incredible and I still die a little daily that Z-A was such an enormous step backwards.
Whomever came up with "oh you can just totally kill a Pokémon but still catch it after, requiring zero strategy now" should be fired and blacklisted from making games.
Definitely a fair assessment given some of these hopes.
Hope is good when it is reasonable, and not so good when it is delusional. This is GameFreak, folks. This will be another shoddy cash-grab. It is what they DO.
Edit: Doesn't mean it can't still be fun, but we should leave our delusions of grandeur at the door.
Woolly World was absolutely incredible, both style and gameplay. This one sadly looks lacking, but willing to give it a shot after the brilliance of Woolly World.
I did not play this, but I really wish developers/publishers gave more warning across the board for this sort of thing. Like, either annouce it two years ago, or support it until 2028 and tell people about that coming now.
This modern practice is a kick in the crotch to fans of the thing being shut down.
At this point you aren't going to stop AI, that ship has sailed. Fighting it 10 years ago might have produced actual results - now you are just punishing fans by refusing to work as the ship sinks. And what good will it legitimately DO? None. It is one thing to take a stand in order to accomplish something; quite another to pretend you are making a difference when in fact your behavior is doing absolutely nothing. Your position is beyond easily replaced; a line of people are waiting behind you. Do your job, do it well, and have your work actually produce results.
Let the work be its own reward - a job well done will always outlive a temporary contract. Pretending you're a martyr when the war is long over is just empty noise.
Edit: Also let's never forget it is the consumers who want cheap (often free) entertainment and media handed to them on a silver platter that allows for these things to happen. Companies, big or small, cannot live if consumers don't fork over money to them. That is the real solution, not unions which literally allow the giant companies to keep finding new ways to screw people. Unions are part of the massive system, not a solution to it. The people are the solution, if a solution is actually desired (spoilers: it isn't, as proven by the mass consumer). One of the biggest con jobs of all time has been unions convincing the masses that they ARE "the people." They are as much "the people" as Capcom is "the people" lol.
Milking a franchise and shaking fans down for money IS pretty fun, agreed. And the GameFreak folks are so good at it! Why, they might be the best in the business.
@BrewsterTea lol "proven fact." Pokemon hasn't been reinvented in decades. The closest they came was Legends Arceus, and then ran the crap away from that IMMEDIATELY and went back to their lackluster city life in ZA.
@Pillowpants At a certain point addition becomes subtraction. Many of the later Pokemon absolutely suck and are stupid, from a design perspective. Plus each new creature takes away from the interest of the previous ones. It is too much. It needs a reduction.

Re: Fox McCloud's Voice Actor For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Has Been Confirmed
Ha ha, that was a great reveal trailer for it! Love the goofiness and fun. Nice.
Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?
@LucasM3 You can literally go download 5,000 free games right this second, and another 10,000 for under $5.
Being dramatic about it doesn't help anything.
Re: Hades II Has Some Bonus Content Planned For Next Month
Nice! Guess I will hold off on starting the game till then.

"We can only imagine that PS5 sales are going to absolutely tank from April onwards"
Nah, rich gamers are everywhere now and need their fix. Will it see a small change? Maybe. Tank? No way.

Plans, soon broken.

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Has Received A Small Patch Today
The patch I want to see is "an all new Captain Toad game for Switch 2."
Make it happen, Nintendo!

Re: Feature: Where The Heck Do You Start If You've Never Played Resident Evil?

I'd vote Re1 or Re4, but Re4 ruins all other Re games and most non-Re games so know what you're doing to yourself. Nothing else comes close!
Re: Poll: Who's Your Favourite Resident Evil Villain?
Wesker far and away, then Salazar. I barely even remember any of the others.
