At the end of last month, Capcom released Monster Hunter RIse: Sunbreak - the first DLC for the latest entry in the monster hunting series.
Now that hunters have had time to sink their teeth into the latest adventure, the focus moves on to the first free title update. This will add Lucent Nargacuga and several other monsters - including rare species, special species, and even a new locale: Forlorn Arena.
Now, in a new update via social media, Capcom has shared a "sneak peek" at Qurious Crafting - allowing for armor upgrades. These upgrades will make use of the new materials coming in this next title update.
@monsterhunter "For the first Title Update, we're adding new content regarding Anomaly Research. In relation to that, here's a sneak peek at Qurious Crafting, which allows for armor upgrades. The upgrades utilize new materials that will be added with the update. Please look forward to more news! - Suzuki, #Sunbreak Director"
Beyond this next title update, players can expect future updates to arrive in Fall, Winter and then at some point in 2023. The Fall update will add more rare species and subspecies monsters, and the Winter update will include several other monsters.
Are you looking forward to the first free title update? How are you finding Sunbreak so far? If you haven't already tried it out, there's a free demo you can download from the Switch eShop.

I'm just wondering if we're getting more variants (aside from Seething)...people are saying that apparently the other two are Gold and Silver. Also, I want Molten to return as well, lol
Not sure how I feel about the armour augments. It's nice to have more stuff to work towards in the end-game but at the same time you can already fit so many skills on MR sets that adding more on top of that feels a bit like overkill and will just make what's already an easy game even easier. Hopefully we also get a lot of more difficult content to go with it over time or at the very least more reasons to do the anomaly hunts.
Are you kidding me.. they are joking right. More dlc for your dlc
@KnightsTemplar .....it's free.
They’re making updates for dlc now?
...huh?
@Greatluigi they did that with World and mostly Iceborne too.
Title updates expand the content even more with extra monsters 99% of the time.
This is all im playing at the moment. I just cant put it down! 160hrs in and theres still stuff i dont understand about the game. Mainly all the bolting Jems to armours and weapons and the weird melding pot etc. Ive not really needed to so havnt bothered really looking in to it yet. Such an amazing game. Its also the only game i play online. Just been grinding monsters to slowly make my way through all of the master armours. Defenately my favorite game on the switch and my 2nd most played game ever. I look forward to whatever content Cap brings to the table... although i probarbly wont understand that either.
Good to hear there's yet more Content coming but good God am I rusty at this.
@BenAV I can't argue with your logic, but I'm still excited about augmenting armor. It will be interesting how the devs balance the game with this new mechanic...and see how much impact the augments will actually have in gameplay.
From what I can tell from the image, it would seem like (I'm speculating here) that the devs are rolling out the rampage weapon augment mechanic to armor. If that's the case, we might have a short list of "preset" armor augments to choose from, and we'd only be able to pick 1 "preset" armor augment. Devs could give us the option to boost S/A class skill levels, but reduce the defense/resistance stats of the armor to balance things out.
I am not looking forward to it, because ( 5 mins ago ) I just beat the campaign and I got a lot of missions I skipped to fill in. Those red check marks are all important to me. Those are going to take me a good while to power through. Ugh… I need more time.
You already feel overpowered with the current set up. But if this could reduce my times on anomaly quests then so be it. Afflicted mons are such a chore to grind!
sunbreak makes an excellent game out of a good game . can't wait for the updates
Easily the best most engaging game on switch. Sunbreak brought me bqck to my switch after a long absense
Never played this monster hunter game, but skimming over recent news I take it that it's like Fortnite. I guess everyone does that thing where they continually jump in order to get around the map!
I wished we would get some all new monsters instead of all these variants. Tbh because the vast majority of monsters in the dlc are new variants, I feel short changed as the number of new monsters/returning are so small, when the dlc was not exactly the cheapest.
Rise/Sunbreak needs more siege battles with huge monsters.
Jhen Mohran, Nakarkos or the sorts is really missed.
@dew12333 - no its nothing like fortnight. you slay mosters to get drops to make gear, then fight a more powerful monster to get drops to make more gear. rinse and repeat 100000x. its the best loop in gaming
Capcom : Release a Huge DLC with bunch of new contents accompanied with a cool roadmap with upcoming free stuff
Entitled Dipsh*t gamer here : "WTF MORE FREE CONTENT, IM SO MAD"
Wtf is wrong with this new generations of gamers ?
@Joeynator3000 You didn’t get the memo here? Free patches is a bad thing now
@Joeynator3000 there are strong rumors that we'll be getting the Espinas subspecies in one of these updates. We'll also likely get the gold/silver rath duo since they always make an appearance.
@BenAV Seriously. While I do enjoy the game for what it is this is the first MH game (from 'Classic Era' here) where I feel so insanely superhuman and actually feel bad for the monsters. Whether it's our armors/weapons/abilities, skills, etc. for us even the levels are designed to give us as much advantage as possible over the monsters. I purposely don't chase after having all the highest possible gear and numbers (or 'meta' setups) for my armor/weapons to balance the fights some.
***** about to get real.
This is incredible. We've never had a system like this before in MH.
Min maxing armor to squeeze out an extra skill or reduce elemental weakness will make anomoly Quests even better to grind out.
I love the difficulty of the anomoly Quests too. The A1 are super easy. But A2 hit pretty hard for being Royal Ludroth and Tetranadon, etc. I'm in my fully upgraded endgame mix set and they can knock my health pretty hard.
I can only imagine how satisfying the higher level anomoly monsters will be, especially the ones coming in title updates? I feel shivers down my spine. It's gonna be a return to Lv 140 Guild Quest Kushala from MH4U. I love it.
