Re: Rumour: Rayman Could be Planned as DLC in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

9th_Sage

I think I want to point out that very soon after the video/images, I saw one of BARBIE on the character select screen of Smash that also looked convincing (very much like that still of Rayman on the select screen actually). People really need to take this with a grain of salt instead of looking for justifications for it to be real ('oh, he can't be selected because 'x', ''there was a trophy!') because clearly it can be faked.

I wouldn't expect it until at least noon eastern, folks. That seems to be when they update the eShop. I know they said it was now available, but usually it takes until then for them to update regardless of what they say.

Maybe I'll check it out, out of curiosity once it's inevitably discounted to $0.49 like The Letter was. Glad to hear the dev is listening to some of the criticism, but I'm not surprised it's awful.

Only bad thing though, is that it doesn't sound like it has the only redeeming thing The Letter has....to a certain kind of person (like me) The Letter's attempts at a story and trying to be scary were actually somewhat funny due to how completely terrible they were.

No...this is more about their inexperience than Nintendo's policies. I hope I don't come off as an ass saying this, but even I know they (and all console makers) have a certification process. They also probably shouldn't have expected Nintendo to bankroll them when they are a complete unknown without anything to really show anyone yet.

I wish them well, but the lack of thought that seems to have been put into things on their part doesn't bode well for the project.

Hard to review something like this when no games that are compatible with it are released. I feel like this company has their priorities skewed (maybe get some games out first eh?).

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against Retro Flash Carts

9th_Sage

Don't have time to watch the video right now, but here's my general opinion...

For me, flash carts are a convenience thing. In my case I'm talking about the one I have for Nintendo DS stuff (usable on my 3DS). For years I've been dumping out copies of my DS games and putting the boxes up in my closet...I've got a really tiny apartment here. I've also been doing the same thing with my GBA games (and since this flashcart also has a built-in CPU that can be used for say emulating the GBA, it means I can use them here too which is impossible without such a device on a 3DS).

That said, if a GBA game I like such as say Mother 3 (just as an example) were to appear on the virtual console, I'd buy it there to support the things I enjoy despite being able to play it also on the flashcart or the original cartridge (though in Japanese in that case).

I feel much the same way with other forms of emulation (and other console specific flash carts). I'm glad to support whoever it is that wants to re-release these older games, I use other (unsanctioned, shall I say) emulation for things that are unlikely to ever come out because of weird rights issues, or the original developer just not caring any more (like the SNES RPG Robotrek...good game, I think Squeenix perhaps owns it now, but they're never going to do anything with it on VC since it's not Final Fantasy)..

Re: Areal Campaign Suspended By Kickstarter

They still blame everyone BUT themselves...which of course, is where the blame should truly be laid. It's weird how they say things like 'our competitors were trying to stop us'...what on Earth are they talking about? I can't even think of anything that would make that make some kind of sense.

By the way, don't expect to see on that Facebook page any negative comments, not for long anyway. They've already deleted a few. I guess they can't handle the criticism of people saying 'Oh dear, I'm kind of scared to donate anything to you guys at this point.'

Re: Buck Rogers SNES Prototype Materializes

9th_Sage

@TheRealThanos Oh no, it's not the music so much as the sound effects (though the music does have a certain sound that brings to mind Turrican). On watching the Jim Power video (didn't watch enough of that earlier it seems)...apparently those other effects in the Buck Rogers that sound like they are literally the SFX from Turrican were changed. Maybe they were used as place holders?
