Mario Kart 8 has proven to be a major success for the Wii U in 2014, being critically acclaimed and — more importantly — performing well at retail. A feature it introduced as new to the franchise, of course, was Mario Kart TV, in which you can save, edit and view stylish replays of races. Another option is to upload these clips to YouTube, though it seems some have been encountering issues with that aspect of the feature.
In recent days some users have been complaining that when trying to upload clips they get error code 104-1852, preventing them from publishing their masterpieces on the popular video service. Over on Nintendo's tech forums a representative has replied to the recent messages to advise that an update is on the way to fix the problem.
Currently, when attempting to upload a game highlight video to YouTube, some users may receive Error Code 104-1852 and the video upload may fail as a result. Nintendo is aware of this and a system update to address this issue is being prepared. We will provide a status update on our support website here once the system update is ready for release.
I will also post an update here, so if you are following this discussion, you’ll receive a notification.
Are you still uploading a number of replays to YouTube, and have you encountered this problem recently? Let us know.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip.

I was wondering about that...I don't upload stuff all the time, but I tried to upload some stuff showing some of the new DLC content recently.
Didn't even know it existed before reading this.
My nephew was round last night, he was playing MK8 and I uploaded a replay of one his races to YouTube and Miiverse just to show him, worked fine. He's got a Wii U for Christmas, doesn't know it yet....
FINALLY. I used to be able to upload replays just fine but now I just can't, getting that error all the time. Hope that update comes soon!
I used the youtube upload feature once, but it takes so long, you can't upload in the background, and there are very few customisable options - I haven't used it since
@TantXL If you don't care, then you have no reason to post.
I thankfully have never had this issue. All my videos have posted fine. I didn't even know there was a problem.
Thank goodness. Tried uploading for the first time in awhile last week and got this error code. Looking forward to being able to post vids again!
So I guess the problem lies with the Wii U system itself and not the game. Curious to know why. A network bug maybe?
Except my videos get flagged by youtube for copyrighted material.
Oh, thats why I can't upload my beatiful video from new tracks. ANd what a battle it was
Ninty should pay more attention to bugs like this. If not, it is a start of new "HDD PlayBox" company.
HDD PlayBox = you need to download few GB of updates to play game.
I hope they update the online, add some more options playing with friends. . at least allowing you to play with real people online not just bot's
I've not had any trouble using Mario Kart TV - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrU3VBfOwvBmupY7v_RVNKoBtYi10g4oi
I hope the settings are updated to allow 40 race sessions (i.e. All Cup Tour-esque setup including both the DLC and disc tracks being possible)
Oh yes, I was uh.... Definitely worried about this error. Yes thank you.
Been shafted by it since the minute I updated. Thankfully I remembered you could favourite races until the fix is put in place, so good replays aren't lost forever.
Haven't worked for me since 3.0
I don't mind. Let's keep youtube away from 30 second clips of mario kart no one is going to care for.
Article title says Mario Kart will be updated, but the text says it'll be a System update. Which is it?
i couldn't get Mk8 to upload to youtube. It started ever since i download the DLC. i hope they also stop content id mach's on stuff from Mk8. I learned if you just used the option that only makes a video with sound effects and then use youtube to give it music latter if you wont.
It's stupid that we can't upload an entire race. Only 30 seconds? Give me a break. Because of that I stopped using it immediately.
I tried to upload some highlight reels of the new DCL content and it failed. I wanted to post videos of the Excite Bike track. I had this awesome 1st place finish playing as Tanooki with three other racers. Did not hit a single item! Saved in favorites...
