@polynomer Haha, well that IS what they say. I'm not sure that I believe this really happened. Even if I did, there's...I dunno...the everything else that I mentioned. I'll save you some trouble though, you're not going to find something that will convince me to give them money.
@polynomer Are you kidding me? Dyack is Chief Creative Officer of Precursor Games...if you think he's not involved you simply haven't been paying attention (or are willfully ignoring the facts). Also, when I say 'shady things', I mean everything. They might as well be Silicon Knights...Silicon Knights folks working on computers bought from Silicon Knights, with assets that sound like they came from a Silicon Knights project. It sounds kind of like they did it this way to avoid the fallout of the lawsuit with Epic. I could be wrong (hell, I hope I'm wrong) but none of this instills confidence in them as far as I'm concerned.
I might have donated a bit myself if Denis Dyack weren't involved. I don't think I trust him anymore to get a game out, let alone something that's good enough to deserve this sort of hype. It wouldn't be a good investment (which, people, is what Kickstarter is...you aren't guaranteed anything). It doesn't help that the whole thing with Precursor and Silicon Knights seems shady as hell.
Aw come on now. You might forget how it was, but a lot of people, this is their first time playing it (more than you would think). I can think of several places I got stuck in that game (like the so called 'noob bridge' .
This just seems like a lot of old school gamers being all 'WE'RE SUPERIOR DOHOHOHO'. Really? You never got stuck in the game even one time back when you were first playing it?
Ooh, that's a cool hack. Actually, I'd love to be able to do the opposite, use a Gamepad as a remote screen for my PC. I'd spend however much for an extra one if I could do that.
I dunno man...I really do wish them well, but I don't have high hopes for a project Denis Dyack is involved in. Here's hoping he and Silicon Knights (because let's face it, Precursor is mostly Silicon Knights people) prove me wrong.
I agree that it was a smart decision overall, but I'm not sure why he thinks they will have no games to announce or that they won't announce any (if there isn't at least a Nintendo Direct I'd be surprised)..
er, wait a second...it's kind of messed up that Nyan Cat is involved here...did he own the song? I thought I'd heard that originated among the Hatsune Miku fandom in some way or another. I suppose it's the image that is the important part here though.
Folks: When he says "Cloud Gaming" he's obviously talking about things like Gaikai and/or OnLive, not sending game saves into the cloud. For them, he's got a good point...even when it's working ok it's not like it's latency free.
Ooooh, wait, that thing's a joystick that uses MICROSWITCHES? This might be pretty amazing then, that controller. If you aren't going to have a D-Pad Nintendo style, next best thing is something like that.
Haha, well obviously a lot of us DO care, because here we are discussing it. I mean really...don't say 'no one cares' when you mean 'I don't care'. That said, I'm a little annoyed by the tweet, but it's not what he said but how he says it. I don't think he probably means to, but he comes off in kind of a bad way on something of a regular basis. Personally I think people overall should chill for a bit, go relax, and come at this with a fresh head if they're going to discuss it. Ranting isn't useful at all cough cough.
It still uses original controllers, yes (all you have to do to see that is read the video). I'm interested. I have a RetroN3, and it's decent though not without it's problems...if this rectifies those problems and also lets me play Famicom games directly without a convertor, that sounds good to me. HDMI output is kind of nice too.
Of course that 'patch info' from the Ubisoft forums is false. For one, it's dated as having been made in December. I wish you'd not posted that, there's bound to be a few people who don't bother to read more than a few sentences of it and get horribly confused. That said, though I've actually not run into any of the bugs (I saw that Nursery 'tank' zombie a mile away so I got him before he got me) I hope they fix those up. Also blah blah load times, if possible.
I personally believe the rumor of EA being pissed at Nintendo because they offered Nintendo Origin as the 'backend' of their online infrastructure and Nintendo said (paraphrasing here) "What are you, high?".
Ah, well that's good! Too bad it's not out, but as Miyamoto said "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is forever bad." I honestly wish more companies would hold a game back when needed (one problem with games recently is the 'oh we'll patch it!' mentality, where they knowingly release something buggy with the intent of later patching out the problems...not entirely bearing on this, but it's worth talking about in the same breath )
That would be awful, I actually think Iwata is pretty awesome. I can't say that about many CEOs. Not many CEOs would even broadcast their company's news to you, let alone contemplate a bananna for you.
@ToxieDogg sounds like perhaps it was calibrating the joystick at the start of the round (and it messed up the controls because of that)? Weird issue, hope they fixed it.
I've heard that the development time of this port was very short all things considered. That said, I'm sure in this case it's not the fault of the WiiU so much as an awful, awful port. It's so disappointing. I really really wanted this to be good.
It's funny, what they said above (that is, Renegade Kid) is something I've tried to explain to people who are super gung-ho about piracy in the past. "But the DS was a success!" they say. Um, sure...but for who? Nintendo, definitely...but then there are smaller third parties like Renegade Kid who probably got hit hard by the fact that piracy was stupidly easy on DS by the end of it's lifespan. I'd hate to see that happen to 3DS, especially since it's pretty great so far.
Without Netflix, it's usefullness for me goes way down. That stinks...what the hell happened I wonder? Having trouble negotiating with Netflix maybe (it's implied that's what the deal with the DVR support is I think)?
Weird...EU had two sales on eShop titles, NA hasn't had any so far. @_@ Any way, I look forward to the eventual release of this in the US eShop. I'm also glad you all keep interviewing indies, what they're saying is pretty interesting. It's nice to hear how they're using things like Miiverse.
I dunno about anyone else, but having just bought the Deluxe system and two games, I'm pretty well tapped out at the moment, especially if I want to afford buying Christmas gifts for my family.
Well good, I hope so. My dad has never played any of these and is likely to one day have a WiiU, I can't feel like I can recommend ME 3 for WiiU though since it's missing the other two games. This though, I'd tell him to buy it immediately.
Time will tell how much of a success WiiU is, but at least as far as I"m concerned, they're doing something INTERESTING. I mean, I guess it will be great if Durango and Orbis are more powerful than their predecessors, but I feel like that's way less interesting than it used to be. It's not like the leap from NES to SNES any more you know?
Hmm....now I want to see a cheap, eShop downloadable air hockey game where one player is on the TV and the other is on the Gamepad. Oh, and that isn't crap like this game.
@Discostew There's a media server called Plex that also transcodes...on it's web based front end it DOES support an HTML5 player, but it requires some sort of weird extensions that WiiU doesn't support, unfortunately (far as I can tell the only thing that does are Apple devices, so maybe it's an Apple thing). Maybe they'll find a way around that.
You can trust Marcan on this I'm sure. He knows his stuff (he's part of Team Twiizers, they who created the Homebrew Channel on the Wii...I don't think it'd be an exaggeration to say that they probably know more about the Wii than many at Nintendo do).
edit
I also don't think people need to flip out as much as some of them are in the comments. This doesn't mean piracy, and it doesn't mean the WiiU's CPU is the most awful thing in the universe.
Weird....hope y'all get it sorted out, I'm glad I didn't have a problem like this at the US launch. Strange that they forgot to pack it in with the system.
Google really needs to fix it, it's not enjoyable to use (most of the time videos in my subscriptions don't show up, glad it's not only happening to me).
So, is it just R4 carts or is this being used as a generic term for the even more generic term 'flashcarts'? If it is just R4s, it's not like there aren't a weirdly enormous amount of clones and such that are called something different. Thankfully 3DS seems a lot more secure, on that note I'm sure the WiiU is as well.
@HiroshiYamauchi why would you find that strange? They want to sell things to us, the best way to do this is to be on as many devices as possible. WiiU certainly isn't the only one to have Amazon Instant on it.
Youtube is too. O_o I had to delete and redownload it to get it to update though. I'm having some issues with it though, when I look at users they don't often show their videos.
Yeesh, most of us aren't hating on the WiiU...we like it, and that's why we want it to improve (I feel like a few of the people in this discussion don't get that). No reason to go all fanboy over that. I've had a lot of fun with mine since I got it on launch day, but I do still feel like the IDs need to change so that you can use them on a different system. I'm not afraid of mine being stolen, but I'd feel better knowing that if it ever DID somehow, I could recover my downloads (especially since I just dropped $60 on a download of Mario ).
Hey, I haven't played more than an hour or so of it, but I like it quite a bit. I have a feeling I might want more after it's done, I wouldn't mind some kind of new mini-campaign or something. Something more like Bioshock 2's Minerva's Den DLC than 'hey a new weapon' or yeah, horse armor.

Re: Rumour: The Recent Wii U System Update Has Boosted Clock Speeds
Marcan has weighed in on Twitter and said it's all BS. He would know better than most (and is certainly more credible than 'random anon on TVtropes').

Haha, this sounds like complete BS to me.
