The Xenoblade Chronicles series is one that has gained strong momentum over the years for its scale, storytelling and music. With the hotly-anticipated sequel in development and currently without a solid release date beyond "2017", it's encouraging to hear that composer Yasunori Mitsuda has now completed the recording and mixing has already begun.

The composer also remarked that he hopes Xenoblade Chronicles 2 soundtrack will surpass that of the first game - high hopes indeed. Mitsuda is known for creating the soundtrack to beloved game Chrono Trigger and of course the previous Xenoblade entries. Mitsuda also commented that 150 people have worked on the music and that it is among the biggest projects of its type in the world of gaming right now. He also comments that a soundtrack will likely be released, however no date has been given.

With the music appearing to be near completion, does this give good reason to believe the game will be available sooner rather than later this year? We'll no doubt have a solid release date after E3, but in the meantime let us know what you think by posting a comment.
