BenAV commented on Poll: Which Wii U E3 Game Has Impressed You th...:

I went with Wind Waker.
X is my most anticipated title, but my excitement isn't really any higher than it was after the initial trailer.
Smash Bros. wasn't exciting at all, considering it's just what I was expecting.
I wish I could give negative votes for Super Mario 3D World.

That's really good to hear.
Hopefully it'll be looking pretty awesome by the time they actually do show it off then, next year or whenever that may be.
Until then, I can make do with some Wind Waker.

BenAV commented on Hideki Konno Delves Into Mario Kart 8:

It's looking pretty good, but I'm not so keen on bikes making a return.
Hopefully it'll all feel a lot more balanced than it did in Mario Kart Wii.
Generally I find that each Mario Kart game is usually an improvement on the last so fingers crossed it's the same here, because I really like Mario Kart 7.

BenAV commented on Eiji Aonuma Shares Wind Waker HD Thoughts:

Can't wait to play this.
Wind Waker's my favourite Zelda game, and it's looking amazing on the Wii U.
Even though it's a remake, it's one of my most anticipated games at the moment.

BenAV commented on Video: Monolith Soft's X Given More Epic Footage:

This is the Wii U game that I'm most excited for.
Most of what we saw today was pretty lackluster, but at least this will keep me a bit hyped up for a while.
Not sure if they can match Xenoblade, but I have faith that it'll be awesome nonetheless.

The first one was great and this one looks to be too.
Still a little disappointed if this is Retro's game though, as there was so much hype around what it was going to be and I would have really liked to see them tackle something different.

BenAV commented on Super Mario 3D World Coming To Wii U This Dece...:

This was a huge disappointment for me.
3D Land was fun, but it's nothing compared to the two Galaxy games.
This was probably what I was most excited for going into the presentation and now it's probably what I'm least excited for.

BenAV commented on Feature: Our Top 10 3DS Games - Summer 2013:

Kid Icarus: Uprising is the clear winner by a mile for me.
Probably followed by Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, or maybe Virtue's Last Reward.
Fire Emblem: Awakening's up there too but unfortunately I didn't love it as much as some previous games in the series.
Ocarina of Time's pretty great too of course but I don't really count that.

Everyone should buy this.
It's one of the better quality titles on the eShop.
It was easily a worthwhile purchase at its normal price, half price is really good value.

BenAV commented on Review: Jewel Master Atlantis 3D (3DS eShop):

This is one of those titles that I might download just for something to pass the time if it comes out while there's not much else to play.
In this case though, there are already way too many good games to play that'll keep me occupied for a very long time, so I'll be giving it a pass.

BenAV commented on Out Today: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate:

@BenjaMAX The demo doesn't really do it justice.
It's become my favourite third party series, and is probably as good as you can buy as far as replay value goes.
It's not going to be for everyone, but it's definitely worth considering giving a shot (even if that means buying from somewhere like EB and taking it back for a full refund within seven days). :P

BenAV commented on Out Today: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate:

Downloaded it from the UK eShop this morning (for the 3DS) and will pick up my Wii U copy at the Australian launch tomorrow.
The long wait is finally over!
Gonna be an all-nighter tonight.

BenAV commented on Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS):

The 3DS version seems to work best as a complementary version to the Wii U game.
It's inferior by comparison, but adds a great option for those who want to continue playing on the go (like myself).
I actually know quite a few people who will be picking this up so I'll be able to utilise the local multiplayer features too.

As far as the controls go, they're pretty terrible... but that's why the Circle Pad Pro exists.
Playing without one and saying the game's controls are bad is like playing Tri on the Wii and saying its controls are bad because you're using a Wii Remote + Nunchuck instead of a Classic Controller Pro.

Pretty awesome.
I wish our EB Games would do that...
I'm downloading the 3DS version but if they did that I'd preorder it and get it at retail too, then return it for a full refund after I get my tshirt. :P

BenAV commented on Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U):

@MagicEmperor If you're new to the series then it's probably better to just skip the demo.
It only gives you a taste of the combat with none of the other aspects of the game on show, and it throws you in the deep end a bit with the monsters they chose and the really short time limit.
If you wanted to give it a try first, you always could, just have to keep in mind that it doesn't really portray all that the game has to offer.

BenAV commented on Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U):

You're right when you say it's exactly what the developers were going for.
It's a game where you really need to learn the movements of your character and the monsters and then judge whether you have enough time to get an attack in or use a potion before the monster makes its attack and stuff like that.
It's one of those things that's a bit tough to get used to at first, but once you get the hang of it it feels pretty great.
But yeah, not for everyone unfortunately.

@Panthon13 Yeah, I don't tend to use them much.
They can come in handy from time to time though so it's good to keep in mind that they're there.
In Legend of the River King the e-Manual has maps of where to catch all the fish which helped a bunch (it was almost like having a guide).
