Seems some backwards compatibility games have been having issues since the update. I’ve had Resident Evil 4 freeze on me multiple times in TV mode since the update although handheld appears to be fine so far.
I don’t think it’s perfect, but still solid at least.
Cyberpunk is a game that only had a little bit of interest for me overall, but being all on cart did help me to decide to go for it and I’ve been enjoying it a fair bit.
Picked up Rune Factory as well as that had my interest from the first teaser trailer. Daemon X Machina has been enjoyable for me with the original release and being all on cart for Titanic Scion pushed me to get it at launch too.
I don’t mind key cards too much, but I would prefer more games to be playable off the cart where it is doable. Want to get a Micro SD Card Express when I can find it cheaper as my main issue is space on the Switch 2 and cost of SD express cards currently. Got Street Fighter on sale, but it’s off and on when I play it as most of my space is often used up. Some games I’m interested in like Requiem, but others will be a wait to save money and perhaps for after upgrading my memory.
@Grim I was confused as to why it wouldn’t show up for me, but that explains it. Weird that it hasn’t shown up for us on the eShop. Only remember a small handful of games that went up on the US eShop, but not the Canadian and no clue why
@PersianZSR this, and the McDonald’s one were only obtainable through specific Nintendo Zone spot passes (airports and McDoanld’s locations in Japan) so even if you street passed someone who had the pieces there, if you never got the spotpass data, then you unfortunately wouldn’t be able to get the puzzle pieces. On the plus side, it was only blue pieces so you could even complete it by yourself if you did have it.
@IceDomino I don’t think full details were ever disclosed, but it seemed that there were some serious threats towards the Nintendo Live event and participants/staff. So the full event ended up being called off. The new event won’t have any attendees/audience members for safety reasons as well.
@lazyboyblue oh yeah, I’ve been hoping for a remake for so long! I really hope that we can see one in the near future as it’d open it up the chance to play it for many more people and seeing a modern rendition of some scenes would be really cool too!
@betterthanvegas the first time you can fly in a skell and just have the whole world open up at once was amazing! I still haven’t done a second playthrough, but maybe I’ll save that for a hopeful new re-release of it sometime.
If I could choose a game to completely experience blind for the first time, I think it’d be Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.
It’s still a Japan only game, but it is well known for it’s story and a major event is unfortunately well known/memed about that I was already aware of it before playing it for the first time.
There were several other parts that I wasn’t aware of though so it was nice to experience that for the first time at least.
@Tyranexx I first played Ghost Trick from the iOS release several years ago and it was such a joy to experience the story. With the Switch release this past year, while I did remember key details, I couldn’t remember some parts of the story so it was fun to partially reexperience the game again and rediscover some of the story.
@BrazillianCara No problem! It’s good to know that it worked! I wasn’t 100% sure if you would get the points if opting in after renewing the subscription.
@Bearzilla823 Make sure you go to the link in the article
(or here) https://www.nintendo.com/us/switch/online/nintendo-switch-online/gold-points-offer/
And opt in for the offer. You won't get the gold coins immediately, but it shouldn't take long. I think I got mine about a day after doing so. I don't think you have to opt in first before the purchase either as I didn't read anything about it.
I do think that cloud games are a potential way for Switch owners to play the games, so long as the experience works fine. I've got a PS5 myself though so while it is slightly intriguing, I already got the game on it and I won't have to worry about losing access later down the line.
My cousin however only has a Switch for gaming so it would be a possible way to play RE games without having to buy another console. The main issue however, is that it is a cloud game, and saves, plus access to the game, will be eventually deleted. Along with the games launching at full price (or their current market price at least).
If it still gets sales like Capcom's other regular sales though, then it could perhaps be worth the dive at the right price.
With the current NES/SNES games, I am mostly pleased with the selection as there isn’t too much else I’m personally interested. As a Fire Emblem fan, my most wanted are the Japanese releases of Gaiden and Thracia 776. Oh and Ufouria is one of my favourite ‘hidden gems’ that I discovered on Wii U VC so I’d love to play it again on Switch!
Since they’ve been starting to release again as of February this year, we’ve had game updates for NES/SNES in February, March (right at the end on the 30th) and then a gap last month. Last year there was a gap from the usual updates after July so the current pattern is unknown, but it is likely we will get an update tomorrow.
Pre-Expansion pack updates were 2-3 months apart with releases every February, May, July, September, and December. (Every month when it was NES only) Post Expansion Pack update patterns aren’t fully known yet, but N64 is every month and both Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and NES/SNES appear to be 2-3 months. Sega updates have been October (with the launch), December, March, and April. (So it could skip a month or two now perhaps) NES/SNES updates returned with the Earthbound announcement in the February Direct and right at the end of March too. But while it seems likely for an update to drop, it’s a bit early to fully guess the release pattern.
Already got a Japanese 3DS and Wii U. Don't think I'd recommend it just for virtual console though. But there are some unique gems on the eShops. A Japan only 3DS (and PS3) game called E.X. Troopers is really fun and highly recommended. If you can get a Japanese 3DS for a decent price then it could be worth it. Hopefully you can get a Japanese eShop card though since credit cards aren't accepted anymore. (For me in Canada, I can't seem to be able to order eShop cards from Amazon Japan while some American friends have been able to do so)
I still do like to go on my 3DS and Wii U at times and games like NintendoLand and Wii Party U are a blast for local multiplayer. I’ll have to go through some games and decide on what I want to get. As a Resident Evil fan, I did end up purchasing RE Mercenaries 3D in a sale recently. While I expect game boy and GBA games to come to NSO eventually (hopefully sooner than later), DS seems unlikely unless a future console goes back to dual screens. So I may look at what DS games interest me enough to get.
And I’m considering a couple FE DLC’s like the Fates and Awakening extra story DLC. Did get some of the Echoes DLC and enjoyed that.
@Rayquaza2510 you can still re-download anything that was previously purchased after next year btw. It will be available as long as the servers remain online. Same situation with the Wii which still allows you to re-download software, but the end date for this is currently unknown, though it will happen sometime.
Still it’s pretty unfortunate that potential content will be impossible to (legally) get if it isn’t purchased by March next year.
I’m in a minority of those who use a Japanese account outside of Japan, but this means that I won’t be able to add any funds with my credit card to my Japanese account. I don’t buy games too often on it at least, but if I do want to get something in the future, it may be a bit more complicated and possibly more expensive. (A non-Japanese credit card works on the 3DS and Wii U eShops in Japan, but it needs to be for the specific region on Switch)
If the controller is noticeably different, then I get both the NA and Japanese versions of NSO controllers (so I just didn’t order the N64 one from Japan) A friend ordered this controller and I’m just waiting for it to arrive. (Currently with Covid regulations, he can’t send anything to Canada, but he was able to send it to my sister in the US) I plan to take a photo of all of my NSO controllers once I get it.
Overall I’ve been getting digital more often lately, but it does still depend. Since Micro SD cards can be a bit pricey for larger sizes I don’t have the room for every digital game (I had a 2TB hard drive for Wii U so a very big difference in storage now). And if I want a special edition for a game then I’ll definitely go for that. But for games that I play often I’ll get digitally and double Gold Points are often a factor for me to pre-load some games too.
Just got back from Japan. Though I went to Tower Records, I wasn’t aware of the Splatoon event until after I had left it and went to Osaka and Nagoya after. Got myself a shirt from there at least and the Octopath Traveller café was also pretty interesting to go to. Piqued my interest in the game more so I may end up buying it.
Got Radiant Dawn in the mail this past week so I’ve been playing that quite a bit. Trying to also fit in time for Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors and a couple others.
I've heard rumours of a Direct or some presentation of sorts coming this week, but also of one for next month. The latter of which would include Fire Emblem as well as Yoshi among other things. Assuming it is correct, I would think the supposed Direct this week would focus on a Switch update, features and Nintendo Switch Online as well as perhaps a couple games. That is just my speculation based on the rumours though.
Loving the game myself, I am still disappointed about other series not being represented, but I really enjoy a lot of characters and there are still some favourites of mine included at least. Might end up getting the English release too perhaps, but I’m not completely sure yet.
@Ralizah that is already available, far left option of the Splatnet app.
Happy to see this finally added. Would like it if you could see which friends were online though. Was available before on the Splatnet website for Wii U/Splatoon 1. Also a messaging system that could be used anytime would be very welcome.
@Maxz you're not supposed to eat your stylus... But there are some stylus which are made for capacitive touch screens so maybe try one of those? I've used one before on my phone and it worked decently. Better than my finger at least
@Mr_Zurkon I do believe it was confirmed to be new 3DS exclusive in the reveal.
Also kind of disappointing to hear online isn't (currently?) in the game... I have a friend I could play with locally though. Had a blast in Hyrule Warriors too, but online would have sold him on that at least. (We both love FE so we will both get this one)
@Zebetite ah, that's interesting. I have actually seen some chargers who used it and thought it was kind of odd. Although I think my set up is also kind of weird I like to use quick super jump often, with the Custom in particular and I use beacons to get to different vantage points quickly
@Zebetite ah, I see more of what you mean. I do main the charger though and so dying is usually something I'd want to prevent when possible. Although I do also use the brush a good amount and I think I often try to be (sometimes a bit too) aggressive with it and I think I usually get a bunch of kills as well as deaths with it. And I also do sometimes take the chance with the rainmaker and go for a good push for the lead. And of course QRSJ is a thing... I never really used it myself, but sometimes it's been kind of dumb haha. Did a quad with some friends and we were all luna blasters with QRSJ (and I think blasters are my worst weapons) and despite all of us having way more deaths and less kills than the other team, we managed to win the game.
@Zebetite I have yet to watch the video so maybe I don't understand the context, but isn't your example kind of part of the point he was trying to make? If you are the 2-3 players who are splatted, then your team has less players to defend the objective which allows the other person (with the rainmaker in this example) to grab it and get a good push before being taken out.
I just love how the headset looks so I want to get it Plus since Splatoon on Wii U didn't have VC, I've been using Discord on my phone the whole time so I guess it will be similar when the VC app comes out. I assume the cable must be long since you can only plug it into the Switch for sound, I think my main issue is that the pro controller doesn't have a headphone jack. (I think it really should have one...)
Also why does NL use bing? It is what twitter uses by default, but the translations are always weird and often unreliable. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get someone that could translate it or at least put it through google since it's much better at translations.
@Joeynator3000 I know people say that My Nintendo is disappointing in Europe too, but I'd like to have been able to get the 3D shorts... I did get it on Wii U, but having it in 3D would be nice...
There is the DLC at least, one thing I like about My Nintendo is that I can get some DLC through it, but there isn't always much available. Still hoping for Smash DLC like Mii outfits since I don't really buy those.
Last year a friend got me into competitive Splatoon on his team and we've all had a lot of fun playing together and in tournaments. We're certainly not the best, but I think it has also helped us to improve a lot and I've gotten to know some other players in the competitive scene including one of the finalists for ESL. I'm pretty excited to see the teams play in Splatoon 2 and also the future of competitive Splatoon.
@OorWullie The Media Create Japan sales right? I just checked the source and in last week's article, it was mentioned that the charts wouldn't be up until the 10th in Japan.
Only Fire Emblem game I don't have is Birthright, but it is still cheaper to buy it as DLC with my Conquest cartridge. Still, I might go for Shadow Dragon on the Wii U. Plus the online shop is still on that. Kind of want to have all Fire Emblem games on one system, but I'll wait to hear how VC works with the Switch (I just don't expect DS games to come)
@ThomasBW84 the characters on the box are Valbar, Leo and Kamui from Fire Emblem Echoes/Gaiden, but it is done in an Edo period style. Also the games were listed as releasing on April 20th which is the same day that Echoes is releasing in Japan.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Effortlessly Drifts Past The One Million Sold Marker After Just One Week
@OorWullie The Media Create Japan sales right? I just checked the source and in last week's article, it was mentioned that the charts wouldn't be up until the 10th in Japan.
Re: Reminder: Fire Emblem My Nintendo Rewards Arrive in North America, Metroid in Europe

Re: Nintendo's April Fools' Day Prank is for a Fire Emblem Game That Would Actually Be Cool
@Frosty_09 oh, that would be interesting haha.
I'd also like to play this game if it existed
Re: Nintendo's April Fools' Day Prank is for a Fire Emblem Game That Would Actually Be Cool
@ThomasBW84 the characters on the box are Valbar, Leo and Kamui from Fire Emblem Echoes/Gaiden, but it is done in an Edo period style. Also the games were listed as releasing on April 20th which is the same day that Echoes is releasing in Japan.

Canada not included (Well my team is mainly from Europe anyway...)
