I love how the poll included that Race With Ryan option specifically for Anti-Matter lol
I haven't play Crossworlds much outside of the demo cause I'm waiting for the Switch 2 physical version early next year.
But my first impression is that Mario Kart World has significantly better driving physics and it's not even close. I also feel like that normal tracks in Mario Kart World are better, especially with all the advanced movement tech in World (charge jump, wall riding, rail grinding, directional tricking, etc...).
While I like free roam in World, I do think the intermission tracks are a bit of a let down since they are mostly straight lines with not much room for skill expression. And while bagging can be fun, the fact that it's so powerful kinda undermines the thrill of just racing. (Btw, is bagging strong in Crossworlds?)
I think that collecting rings in Crossworlds is more satisfying than collecting coins in World. Feels like there's a more noticeable speed boost for maxing out your rings and the fact that you lose rings when you bump into a wall is smart design to encourage better driving.
The gadget system in Crossworlds seems pretty cool, but I'll have to withhold judgement on that till I play the game more.
@Wood_Stick Go back and read my original post. It's entirely relevant to the article, which discusses how Atlus considered porting P3R to Switch 1, but decided not to cause it would have taken more time.
I simply said I would have been fine waiting an extra year for the Switch 1 port since I have no interest in the Switch 2 port cause it's on a GKC. That is absolutely relevant to the article.
People have every right to complain when companies make terrible decisions. So blame the companies, not the customers. If the companies made better decisions, there would be nothing to complain about.
@Wood_Stick I'll complain about them as I please. If that triggers you this much, feel free to click the "Ignore" button down below. Then you can live in your fantasy echo chamber where everyone loves GKCs and Nintendo can do no wrong.
@GoombaJMR All good 3DS picks! Such a great system! EO IV was my entry point into the series and is one of my favorite games of all time now! I really want a DeSu 3 as well... Hopefully one day!
Glad to hear you're hoping to do a physical release for Shujinkou. I'd definitely pick that up on day 1! (Also, agreed with you on the Game-Key Cards, I want real physical releases for my collection!)
@Bobobiwan I might've been tempted once it hits $10 (it regularly goes on sale for $15 on PS5), but 90 GB is just too much space for a single game, IMO.
Charging $20 out of the gate for an online-only game was a real tough sell, I'm sure that accelerated the game's death (probably a low player base due to the high cost of entry).
I saw it went on sale for $2 a few months back. I was a bit tempted at that price, but I figured it was probably gonna get shut down soon, so not worth getting invested. Unfortunately, I was right.
Online-only games like this should really be free (and they should make their money off optional cosmetics). If they wanna charge money up front, then there better be some sort of single player content to fall back on when the online shuts down. Or they should specify a minimum guaranteed time period of service so people can evaluate if they'll play the game enough in that time period to make the investment worth it.
@HugoGED Same, man, I'm starting to realize Switch 2 just isn't for me outside of 1st party games and backwards compatibility due to the virtually non-existent physical 3rd party support.
Question
Are you similarly surprised at how well Requiem seemingly runs on the Switch 2? Will you be picking it up?
Answer
It looks and runs at about the level I would expect for the Switch 2. If it ran at 60 FPS, then I'd actually be impressed. And no, I will not be picking it up since it's on a GKC.
Everyone's joking about stability, but like all the previous system updates since the Switch 2 came out, there could be some legitimately exciting backwards compatibility fixes hidden here.
Such a shame that Nintendo isn't very transparent about this and we have to rely on fans to find out what was fixed.
@kid_keo 🤣Not gonna lie, I stole this idea from him cause a few weeks back someone got on my case for "not being on topic" even though I was directly answering the question posed at the end of the article. So I figured if I make it painfully obvious that I'm merely answering the question, no one will be mad at me!
Unfortunately, I'm not Anti-Matter's alt. I don't like Bluey enough and I play some M-rated games. I also mentioned picking up the game on Switch 1 instead of the PS5 machine. Though I do share his hatred of GKCs!
Question Will you be getting DQ I & II HD-2D Remake on the Switch or Switch 2 next month?
Answer I will not be getting the Switch 2 version since it's on a GKC. And since there's no upgrade path, I'll wait to pick up the Switch 1 physical till it's on a decent sale.
@SillyG I have a pretty extensive Amiibo collection as well, but I've managed to kick the addiction after the Smash series wrapped up. Though I did pick up a some of the Splatoon 3 Amiibo and the Noah & Mio Amiibo since then.
Running out of physical space to store them and the dramatically increased prices have definitely made it easier for me to "stay sober." lol
For me personally, these new Capcom Amiibo in particular leave a bad taste in my mouth. Feels like a very disingenuous way to appeal to fans: "See Nintendo fans? We care about you! Look, we're making Amiibo for you!" But they just got their priorities all wrong. Like, I'll bet most of the people would would be interested in Amiibo (collectors), would be much more interested in owning real physical copies of their games first and foremost.
@Coffee-Waffle I don't think it's officially confirmed yet, but it's Capcom, so all but guaranteed to be a GKC. All their games so far have been GKCs and there was that article from yesterday saying how they use GKCs as a "sales strategy decision" (translation: it makes them more money).
@ElkinFencer10 "The vast majority of gamers get some if not all of their games digitally"
Not true on Switch. If you actually read and interpret Nintendo's financial data from FY24, you'll see that for games that are available both physically and digitally, physical as a whole outsells digital 2:1.
This Famiboards post breaks the data down in an easy to understand way.
@Samalik Agreed. If she can get rid of the stupid "content guidelines" enacted by Nintendo of America in the last year, which have blocked several Japanese games from releasing here, then she will be a good president.
@uncleMike Lol, I knew you wouldn't be able to resist responding. But you were still too cowardly to directly @ me. As someone who claims to be a "dignified adult," you sure like rolling around in the mud of internet comments sections. 🤣
@Solid_Python Serious question: why game on Nintendo platforms if you only want the absolute best technical experience?
If you are not adverse to digital games and want the best technical version, you would be much better served on PC. You can still play PC games portably with various PC handhelds. And when you get new more powerful hardware, all your PC games will automatically look and run better. You won't need to wait for devs to release patches to unlock frame rate caps or increase resolution.
@progx "where did Nintendo say they were going to take away the users ability to redownload their purchases?"
They say it right on their own official webpage about the Wii Shop Channel discontinuation:
"In the future we will close all services related to the Wii Shop Channel, including the ability to redownload WiiWare and Virtual Console games, as well as the Wii System Transfer Tool, which transfers data from Wii to the Wii U system. We will announce specific details as that time approaches."
@uncleMike For someone who claims to have too much dignity to spend their free time complaining about things on internet comment sections, you sure have left a lot of comments on this article doing just that.
I'll bet you can't resist responding to me with another of your "witty" comments. Surely you have more pressing adult matters to attend to?
Maybe this change of leadership will result in less censorship (ie, "content guidelines") from NoA? Ah, who am I kidding? This new lady will probably double down on it.
They can't give the actual game a real physical release, but they'll release some crappy physical Happy Meal toys for $40 a pop to promote it. Please understand.
@Ellie-Moo My guess is it's because Nintendo was being too precious about leaks. They'd rather undermine their developers than risk random obsessive internet fans learning bits and pieces about their new hardware earlier than they want. And the funny thing is, despite Nintendo being overly cautious with dev kits, everything leaked anyways and they have nothing to show for it.
On the topic of the article, this just seems to be another case of devs having their priorities wrong. Any game outside of turn-based games should always prioritize frame rate over graphics.
And it's a shame that the version on the cartridge probably won't have this potential performance mode. They should delay the physical release.
So what's the change in resolution? Did they just increase it by 10 pixels? As Nintendo has taught us, don't read too much into patch notes without actual numbers (remember the Mario Kart World debacle).
Yes, it is true that Switch 2 cartridges are slower than Micro SD Express cards (the former are supposedly 400 MB/s while the latter are 880 MB/s).
But, isn't FFVII Remake infamous for all the forced slow walk and "squeeze through the tight corridor" sequences to mask load times?
The PC version is also totally playable on HDDs, which are generally slower than Switch 2 cartridges (obviously, there's a lot of variance, but a quick search online reveals the best consumer models generally get under 300 MB/s). EDIT: Just remembered this game is also playable from a base PS4 hard drive, which has a read speed of 80-120 MB/s. C'mon Square Enix, we're not stupid.
I also don't appreciate this guy trying to make it seem as if this is the reason why developers use GKCs. Okay, Square Enix, if that's the case, why don't you offer normal Switch 2 cartridge releases for Bravely Default, Final Fantasy Tactics, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D, Octopath Traveler 0, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and The Adventures of Elliot? Are you gonna try to claim that these games require the power of the SSD? Even though the games on this list that are on Switch 1 are getting true physical releases on that platform?
What a load of crap.
Also, what's the deal with Nintendo making their Switch 2 cartridges half the speed of Micro SD Express, but they still apparently cost so much that no one wants to use them?
About what I expected for the split in Japan between Trails in the Sky on Switch vs. Playstation. Normally, same-day multiplats sell 1.5 to 2 times higher on Switch, but because this series has a much stronger history with Sony, it sold about the same on both platforms.
To make matters worse, this is a series where you really should start from the beginning (Sky), so they killed a lot of potential momentum by releasing them in the bizarre order that they did on Switch.
And while all of the more recent games in this series were released simultaneously on all platforms in the West, for a long time, the Switch ports came much later in Japan, making it difficult for the fanbase to grow on the Switch.
@Sonicka It does contradict what Square Enix said. They tried to generalize their opinion to other developers: "I think perhaps the biggest issue for developers, certainly for people like us who make high-end HD games, is the loading speed,"
And here is Capcom, another developer of "high-end HD games" saying, "nah dawg, it's about the money."
@BrewsterTea I was hoping this was gonna be "Shadows of Jugdral," (a la Shadows of Valentia) for Switch. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
@Elbow There's a lot to be sure, but this list is also bloated with digital deluxe editions and bundles, which makes it seem like there's more than there really are.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant It's a standard Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cartridge like we've seen with Rune Factory, BotW, TotK, Mario Party, and Kirby. It contains both the base Switch 1 game and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. If you play it on a Switch 1, it'll be the Switch 1 version, and if you play it on Switch 2, it'll be the Switch 2 version. No internet download required.

I would have gladly taken a year delay to get this game on Switch 1. At least then it would have gotten a real physical release.
Guess I'll just stick with my physical copy of P3P on Switch 1, cause there's no way I'll ever get P3R on a GKC.
