Did a quick rough check as I found the Japanese charts from April 2022 (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/04/japanese-charts-ebaseball-powerful-pro-2022-is-a-home-run-as-kirby-slips-to-third).
This was a month after Kirby and the Forgotten Land launched and back then the install base of Switch 1 (OLED 1,619,662 + Switch 18,215,283 + Lite 4,688,271) was 24,523,216 million, so about 9 times of the Switch 2 install base now.
Seems like contrary to what we're often used from Ubisoft and to what recent reports suggested they seem to have learned their lessons and try to give the game a second chance. I might be inclined to pick it up soon if I hadn't so many other games on the list. Plus the fact that Ubisoft games get down in price pretty quickly...
Does anyone know whether I can still play the Switch 1 version once i started playing the Switch 2 version? In other words, can I use the same save across both consoles. I assume this is not possible?
For those wondering about split screen for city trial, have a look at the top right of this screenshot (thanks to some person on Reddit): https://imgur.com/3vXVYnS
A few months ago I would've ignored it, but since I bought The Hundred Line (after I read here that the devs need the money), I'll probably buy this day one.
And I feel the need to point out that the new game+ of The Hundred Line is more like a new game than another playthrough..., so for those who are on the fence, go for it!
Bought the game right after the direct and I really like it. I'm worried about its length and as expected it seems to be rather short. Maybe we're lucky and the devs follow up with some free updates (if it sells enough).
@Jack_Goetz same here. I loved the portion of the game I played on the 3DS (never beat it for reasons unrelated to the game), but the game being a NS2 exclusive (for whatever reason it's not on NS1) plus the price tag and the lack of the sequel put me off so far. I really don't see why this is not on NS1 and contains both games (but I guess the answer is SE being SE).
Might give this a try. The performance issues in this game seem to be a bit weird anyway, as I feel like the frame rate is dropping in levels and situations where you would not necessarily expect it. But to be honest, I didn't find those issues too bad. What I'm more annoyed about is the fact that it sometimes simply crashes (in one level loading an autosave led to a crash almost always) and the day that is shown at the bottom of the saves is somewhat random. Even when having saves from the same day, sometimes it shows "today", sometimes "yesterday" and sometimes the date.
I am still really glad that DK finally got a big 3D game. I only played a few hours, but I love the game and it's nice to have a non-Mario platformer for a change from Nintendo.
@Anti-Matter honest question, but why are you even (posting) here? The only thing I read from you on a regular basis is that you will buy the PS5 version of a game (at least that's what it seems like).
Nintendo is going to getting away with it while Microsoft wasn't? Am I getting something wrong or is there any difference to many of the physical games on Xbox (and Playstation), where the disc is mainly used as key and the game needs to be downloaded (at least partly) anyway? I also don't like it, but at least here it has a clear name.
@PushMyGran86 I don't really get the complaints about the game cards. Sure, you have to download the game, but contrary to download codes you can give the game to someone else (either temporary or you sell it), which is not possible with digital buys (or download codes, which lead to the same). The situation is the same as on PS5 and Xbox, where the disc is the key and you have to install the game anyway.
@KociolekDoSyta yeah, good job Nintendo, especially given the fact that this is pretty much how it has been for a while with the much cheaper Blu-Rays.
While I totally get the "game preservation" argument, at launch this is a moot point as there are always patches these days and unless you have the version that includes the patches on the physical card, you are always dependent on servers being online for you to download the necessary data.
@TheExile285 @Papasears1982, so I'll probably go with 3 incl DLC (after the Torna DLC) and then X. Let's see what comes first, me playing XCX or Switch2
Currently in the middle of XC2 and while I'm aware that 1-3 are connected and X is its own thing, I'm still not sure whether to play X or 3 first. Any recommendations/suggestions?
I wonder whether they're working on a sequel to Astral Chain, which launches rather sooner than later on Switch 2. However, with Takahisa Taura the game's director is among those who left...
@Ooyah, EA didn't want to pay for the name anymore and I totally get that. It's only about the name on the cover and all licenses within the game are not affected. Given the absurd amount that FIFA apparently wanted for the license, it would have been stupid for EA to keep throwing money after them as their games sell anyway (as can be seen).
The first one is definitely one of the most underrated games. Got it on sale for a few bucks, gameplay is just great and the story is also quite fun (plus, I like the humor, it really fits).
As someone for whom this will be the first Pokemon game(s) since Red and Blue I don't care about whether all are in the game or not. And I'm not alone. Many people from Pokemon Go will jump onto the train with those games. Of course it sucks for people who have been on the train for years, but for many it won't matter.
Plus, it's difficult enough with 300-400 new ones (for me) anyway (yes, assumption on my side, we don't have numbers).

Re: Japanese Charts: Kirby Air Riders Is Off To A Flying Start
"It's nothing compared to the 380,000 debut that The Forgotten Land mustered back in 2022, but for a game as niche as Air Riders, it ain't bad going!"
Well, the install base of Switch 1 in 2022 was also slightly larger than the one for Switch 2 now.

@kioskwitch from Nintendo directly (and physical) yes, but Mediamarkt has it for 69,99 (at least here in Austria). Is/was the same with DK Bananza.
