Earlier this week, Nintendo released a new teaser trailer for Kenichiro Tsukuda's upcoming mech game, DAEMON X MACHINA. This was in preparation for its appearance at this year's Gamescom event in Germany.
The moment has now arrived, with Nintendo's live stream at Gamescom 2018 exploring a special demo of the game. For just over half an hour, Tsukuda, on behalf of Marvelous Entertainment, shows new and previously unseen footage of the title - all while providing more details about the finer aspects of the game. This includes avatars known as Outers, who are essentially outcasts of humanity, but also the only hope to stop the AI uprising.
DAEMON X MACHINA arrives on the Switch next year. Take a look at the trailer above and tell us in the comments if this latest footage has you excited about the upcoming release.

Don't ever stop meching mech puns
Looks like an MDK reboot.
Looks great. I want
Been on the watch for this since E3
This was one of the few surprises from Nintendo's E3 Direct, and I can't wait for it!
This game looks like Xenoblade X and I love it.
Every time I see it, it looks even better.
The sleeper hit of E3 2018 IMO.
this needs more hype, gorgeous looking shmuping awesomeness, needneed needneed
This game looks so fun, can't wait for it to come out. Hopefully the wait won't be too long.
These videos...are mech-ing me thirsty!
Love it!
Can’t decide if this is for me or not. Cautiously optimistic.
im really excited for this game. Been eagerly watching these vids over and over again xD
This doesn't look like much fun to play. Really. Maybe I'm wrong.
Do I mech you horny baby?
@rjejr I have yet to watch this new video but if what you say is accurate, I'm gonna love it. MDK and its sequel were big time favourites of mine.
Looking good! This is the one game from the Nintendo Direct that made me go... "day-one purchase!"
This keeps looking better and better!
I really wish it didn't remind me of Xenoblade Chronicles X, that game was the absolute worst. Aside from that though, this looks really promising.
Ooooooh my god give me this game NOW. Is it just me or does it look like it’s running on the breath of the wild engine? Was that ever officially made public or said? I’m thinking it fits really well; not a bad thing at all!
@rjejr with mechas!
The game looks really awesome. Now I am hyped and a little bit sad that I decide not to go to Gamescom this year =
Day 1 for me. Can't wait for this. My most anticipated Switch game right now, other than Prime.
@Damo I'll do my best to mech it happen.
This game mechs me want to throw my money at the screen every time I see gameplay clips.
Striking art style, and all the customization options you can ask for; that’s a Switch gem right there.
I’m confident this could turn into 2019’s Octopath (or bigger) if given the proper push.
I'm not big on customization, but this looks like a must buy for me! I too am reminded of XCX and that's great, since it was easily my favourite Xenoblade game!
I love how this is a highly stylistic reimagining of the classic PS2 era Armored Core games (with some Zone Of the Enders 2 sprinkled in). To anyone curious about it's influences, take a look at Armored Core 3
Th game looks more and more incredible, definitely a must-buy for me, if it plays anything as good as it appears to be. Still, this game is BEGGING for HDR support. I mean, boy oh boy ... makes me hope it will make the jump to other, HDR-enabled platforms at some point, as everything else would be an incredible shame. It's not a game I would then mind double-dipping on. It's really time we get a Switch "i"/Lite/XL or whatever, that offers HDR support if nothing else. I don't care if it's $400 (for some reason, as it's not like you'd really need more horsepower to accomplish this). If this whole Nintendo gen, which might turn out to be one of the most creative and successful ever, goes down without a single game making the jump to HDR ... I'd be truly saddend. It's bad enough that the Wii gems never made the jump to HD (outside of emulation), when they easily could have, but HDR is not something you can just emulate.
@tabris95 If you say classic Armored Core games, I for one am definitely thinking of the PSX ones to be honest. Still, I see your point and I do agree about the sprinkles of ZoE, which in turn is a good thing.
The striking look cannot overcome my general "meh" attitude towards mecha though...
Maybe I'm weird, but I just find giant robots boring and the sliding movement in this looks really dull to me.
I am not sure why this reminds so many of XCX.
Besides the fact that there are mechs involved in both games, there doesn't seem to be anything comparable at all.
@Ralek85 Your HDR posts are getting to be as ubiquitous Anti-Matter's anti-M-rated-game posts
You really can enjoy games perfectly fine without it you know Like, you know, most people do....
Looks kind of bland to me all around - colors, gameplay, the works. Maybe it's just not for me, or a later trailer might convince me. I think it'll find its niche.
@NEStalgia I wish that were actually true, but just like it was really painful in the Wii era to go back to that blurry, low-detailed mess - and yes, let's not kid ourselves it was painful to go from something like GoW3 or UC3 to something like Xenoblade or SM Galaxy, or even Okami HD to Okami Wii, which allowed for a direct 1:1 comparison - it's equally painful now.
In a way it is even more painful, as back in the Wii days, one could rationalize away these issues ... y'know, like the Wii was a trade-off between accessible fun and innovation on the one hand and cheap production and development cost on the other hand, or that Nintendo brought the tight gameplay, while everyone else was focused one visuals and not much else, and so on and so forth (not to mention that the PS3 launched at $600^^)
Even back then, I'd say much of that was indeed a form rationalization, but now? I mean, HDR is virtually performance neutral, and no one in his right mind is gonna argue, that GoW cannot stand-up against BotW in any and all aspect whatsoever.
So yeah, here, I admit it, the fact that Nintendo could have parity in this regard, without having to spring for a in any way significantly more beefy system is utterly and completely heartbreaking. I could deny, that I find visual splendor in games gratifying in and off itself, but alas that would be a lie.
I'm just gonna keep begging and airing my ... uhm disappointment, because I really, really, really want to see BotW in HDR. No shame in that after all, it deserves too look as vibrant as it possibly can afterall!
PS: I'll also admit though, that like Hollow Knight (which I just started playing this evening), Dead Cells and Bad North (which I started playing just this week^^) ARE enjoyable in SDR. That is not the same as to say, that they would not be MORE enjoyable in HDR, even though it's obvious they would be far less improved by this than games like BotW or most likey Daemon X Machina as well.
Again, HDR would not have cost them a thing in terms of run-time performance. Tell me that is not extremely sobering =/
Anyways ... //rant over
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As the Greek poet Stasinus once said,
"I'm preordering this sh!t TONIGHT."
@Frendo @Toshiro_Baloney You must be old, I wasn't sure anybody on here would remember that. 😉 And I don't think it will be the same so much as the trailer reminded me of it with it's big open world's and 3rd person movement.
@Frendo Look, another old timer. 😉 Yeah, 20 years is scary. What's scarier still for me is I keep coming across things that where 20 years ago that were actually 30. As a Mets fan time begins and ends in 1986. 😊😯
Ok, i knew that this game was an action adventure mecha game with rpg elements with the mech designer being Shoji Kawamori of Macross fame.
Now i also know that the lead designer of the game (apart from being very talented and passionate for his work) is also a Rammstein fan. Can this game become any more awesome?
