Re: Top 100 Nintendo Games, As Chosen By Nintendo Life & IGN

swedetrap

On one hand I want to question the sheer number of SNES games so high up on the list – I mean, I get that the SNES era was a big deal for a lot of childhoods but c'mon.

On the other hand, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as 1&2? Please. No way. We don't have history on those yet to tell us if they really stand the test of time. I didn't like either one, to be honest, preferring the older style Zelda games where I didn't need to eat, craft, and run out of breath every 13 seconds, but I get they need to be on the list somewhere.

And Mario 64 at 25? Nah. I hate that game but it's SO beloved that it deserves top 10, if not top 5.

All of that and my boy Fox McCloud below Toad's silly treasure tracker? Criminal.

Re: Hitman: Absolution Shoots Onto Switch 1 Next Week

I've been playing Hitman games since the beginning and always wanted to like them but never really did. I always credit Absolution with breaking that – I genuinely love this game. Probably not going to play it again as I already have it Xbox if I ever wanted to go through it again, but it's solid. Not modern 1-3 solid, but definitely solid.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

swedetrap

@bluemage1989 Afford is one thing. I can easily 'afford' it. But can I justify it? No, not really. As others here have said, when Nintendo titles, particularly digital titles rarely ever go on sale to any substantial degree, this makes it all even worse. As an adult with limited time, balancing value is always top of mind (and to use your words, if it's not, you have bigger problems in your life). An industry struggling to maintain both outright sales as well as subscriptions will likely kill its own sales-side in favor of subscriptions when they price themselves into oblivion. Now, if there's a $20/month Nintendo GamePass-like service on the horizon, then we can talk. Until then, no way.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

Eh. I'm already well over $100 into MK8 because I bought the Wii U version and then the Switch. There's no way I'm in for $80 for another one. Sorry. My Online subscription was set to renew in September; I've turned off auto-renew. I'm out. Of the 3 online subscriptions I have, Game Pass, PS and Nintendo's, I get the absolute least value from Nintendo already. I'm not sure there's even a Switch 2 in my future at all at this point.

Re: Yu Suzuki Is Launching A Spiritual Successor To Space Harrier

swedetrap

The mega 80s/90s Yu Suzuki fan in me wonders if this is what he was really shooting for in terms of visuals back in the day. I love Space Harrier and see the similarities but this art style is bonkers - and after watching the trailer above 3x I'm still not sure if I mean that as a compliment or an insult. That said, I would totally buy this for a reasonable price on the eShop. Even as an Apple Arcade subscriber though, I don't see me playing this on my iPad.

Re: Nintendo Dominates Amazon's Best Sellers Of 2021 Gaming List

swedetrap

Hard to call this "dominant" when Nintendo is the only console with an incompetent digital store AND physical media still worth buying (ahem, most of the time anyway). Xbox and PS disc sales have gotta be dropping now that the world has mostly discovered they're just discs with license keys on them and the whole download still has to happen anyway

Re: Looks Like Dune's Coming To Fortnite

I kind of wish Fortnite would do more of its own thing instead of this constant pandering to whatever the latest pop culture phenom is. It's getting easy to predict what film will have a Fortnite tie-in next week. And hey, skipping the Sopranos movie? What's up with that? I totally would've bought V-Bucks for that.
