Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Pocket Football Club Really Needs A Sequel On Switch

I think this speaks to a bigger thing - Where's the little bitesize games from 3DS? Sure, Game Builder Garage was cheaper, but we need more like this. Cheaper and smaller games, easy to jump into. Not everything has to be £50 or nothing. I'd love to see more Steel Diver, Pilotwings, Pullblox... even more original bits and bobs. Let me anger everyone here - not everything needs a physical release

I was able to grab Resi4 on Wii from Cex a few days back for only £4. Chose that version cos it has motion aiming, and c'mon, its £4. I've played a little under an hour, and my god, does it feel so... archaic! Possibly a problem with me, I've not particularly liked SM64 and Super Metroid's walljumps have me tearing me hair out. I'm still willing to give Resi4 more of a go though, because, c'mon, £4

Re: Retro Studios Scrapped An "Open-World" Idea For Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

@fafonio thanks for a super considered, insightful reply. I can't say I've come at the game from the same perspective- BotW was my first Zelda (aside from 10mins of each NES game on 3DS) and the lush world and movement came to be what I associate with Zelda. And it's a design I love.
Recently I've completed Skyward Sword HD, and the items, dungeons and swordplay I fell in love with too. I like them in different ways. To me it's like sandbox vs course-clear Mario - both are great, and I wouldn't want to give up either of them. 'Closed' Zelda can deliver great puzzles, dungeons, stories and NPCs, and 'open' Zelda can give awe and exploration. I don't like the idea of either style going away - they have different focuses and mean different. Back to yay Metroid - if they wanted it open, why keep it as a Prime game? Call it Metroid Conquest and have Samus dive in and capture the whole world or something.

I'm enjoying this argument. We say "maths" because there are multiple "mathematics" - algebra, analysis, topology, statistics, geometry, linear algebra... I could go on. And yeah, some of those fields do step on each other's toes, but they are still different "mathematics." I believe we should say "sciences" for the same reason when talking about the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, ... although we can let it slide when using "science" to talk about the scientific method. And before you argue that "math" can be used for the 'mathematical method', we already have a word for that: "logic."

Random predictions: New Super Duper Mario Bros, Star Fox Pi, LEGS, Splatoon 3 development stopped for 3DS port, Dreamcast comes to NSO, Phil Spencer comes on saying "f*ck wario" and announces a port of the 360 Halo games (but only in 540p docked), Miyamoto starts an Onlyfans

@rottame I used to sometimes play Metroid Blast with my dad and occasionally my sister when I could convince them, always with me in the Gunship and them on the ground. I've barely played any local multiplayer since then tbh, no one else I know cares about games lol. Maybe I'll revisit some of the Nintendoland single player stuff, actually finish the Donkey Kong one
