There are no shortage of games bringing their own unique take on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons formula to Switch. Next up is Haven Park, which will be published by Mooneye, who you might remember from 2020's Lost Ember.
Under the new banner of publishing label Mooneye Indies, we should get even more wholesome games such as this coming to the Switch in the future. Here's what Mooneye-CEO Tobias Graff had to say about this upcoming release:
With Lost Ember we‘ve been lucky enough to bring our community a game that touched a lot of players and quickly became a fan-favorite among indie lovers. We want to share this experience with other developers and help them get their well-deserved place in the spotlight.
Haven Park has been developed solely by Fabien Weibel, and the game tasks players with looking after the camping grounds left by the protagonist‘s grandmother. The characters in the game look nice and cute, as you can see in the trailer above. Will it challenge Animal Crossing? Perhaps not as the scope is quite different, but it could be one to keep an eye on if you're already a fan of Nintendo's series.
Let us know if you plan to check this out when it lands on Switch this summer with a comment below.

I mis-read the headline as Animal Crossing: Haven Park is Coming to Switch and thought it was a new Nintendo game at first!
It looks pretty similar to A Short Hike to me, so I’m interested in seeing more.
Any reason for the snark in the title of the article? Just want to remind everybody that this is nothing more than a fan site?
@JimmySpades Dude chill, it's a bit of fun.
@Dethmunk To be fair, Nintendolife called A Short Hike "Animal Crossing Meets Zelda: Breath of the Wild" on their youtube channel, so as @Tops said above, they just seem to compare every game to whatever Nintendo game they think it looks most like.
@Tops It certainly wasn't an attempt to cast the game in a negative light; as I said, it's clearly just a bit of light-hearted fun.
Also, while the game looks like a Short Hike, the gameplay appears to be more akin to AC, hence the comparison (building a park, chatting with animal characters, collecting resources, etc).
Comparisons are handy when you're writing snappy headlines because they allow you to quickly communicate to the reader what a game might be like, based on a game they're almost certain to have experience with. That's why most sites (not just us) compare things to other things, be they games, movies, books or TV shows.
@BooJoh
I want to see what "The Dark Souls of Animal Crossing" looks like.
Looks generic. Ive yet to see any game similar to animal crossing that has any personality.
This could be good fun but I don't like that you seemingly have to play as a giant yellow ball. The character's design and lack of customization shown is off-putting.
Far prefer the look of this to AC, just not sure there's enough there to holy my interest past a few hours. Still, seems like a nice game.
I think they want to make that comparison so that Nintendo fans who do like animal crossing click on the article even though it may be more like another game.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I thought it was an in game addition
Looks cute and I like the lighting effects. I'll give this one a shot if the price is in my range
I wish we’d one day get an actual game that can compete with New Horizons, since it seems like due to it selling well, the direction of the series will just be a repeat of New Horizons.. meaning animal crossing is no longer for people like me.
Yep a lot of Short Hike vibes, but for me, that's a good thing. I'll be sure to check this out.
I loved Lost Ember.
This looks cute. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
@Dazza can you rename the headline. This mislead to Animal Crossing and they don't relate to the said game, whatsoever.
Their Steam Page says it's a 2-4h game. Definitely more like A Short Hike.
Or maybe A Longer Hike.
I'm sorry.
Looks like a complete ripoff of A Short Hike, a game that literally stole assets from Animal Crossing. I'll probably still buy it though lol.
To little info about the game, but from what I saw in the trailer, this doesn't reminds me to Animal Crossing at all. I feel that the title of this article is a bit misleading.
"Plenty of quests and a heartfelt story keep you busy for 2-4 hours with many little secrets to uncover", this better be a 1 dollar game then.
"Will it challenge Animal Crossing?"
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
gasp for breath
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
@Clyde_Radcliffe That is what I read, "Animal Crossing: Haven Park" ! Never mind
Looks more like don't starve, but with a short hike/AC theme
Compared to the current state of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this looks better. I might give it a chance.
I never heard of Haven Park but it looks cute. Nothing compares to Animal Crossing though.
