I don't see how making something that belongs to you available through a competitor is a sleazy move. As I said, blame Zenimax for choosing to be sold, they knew full well what it would mean for the game's availability.

Exactly what it means. Nintendo and Sony aren't financially involved in the production of the game, nor did they sign a contract to have it brought to their device, therefore Microsoft aren't legally obligated to sell the game on their devices. A blind man and his dog could see that any chance of the game being multiplatform went out the window as soon as Microsoft bought the game.

Perhaps you should be angry with Zenimax instead, they're the ones who sold to Microsoft. Regardless, if there was no contract in place to bring the game to other consoles then it isn't a slimy move. It's not about defending Microsoft.

It's not just legal costs, but the cost of producing moulds for things like the master sword. It's not going to be cost effective if it only gets used for one set.

Dwarf Fortress has unlimited replayability, gets updated with new content (and will do for years to come) and is free. Every other game in the world is overpriced

@Indielink Good, Netural, Evil, Stupid. That's an alignment system I can get behind. If the character had a low intelligence I would have allowed it, but people would typically search for water if none was immediately available before resorting to drinking their own urine.

Except you (other editors included) don't. Hades and Tumbleseed, for instance, are called Roguelikes here when they clearly aren't. Having either procedurally generated levels or permadeath doesn't automatically make a game a roguelike, just like being able to throw fireballs doesn't make Mario Galaxy a 3rd person shooter, and yet if they have either of those features, it's labelled a roguelike in reviews around here.

This article explains a lot. If you can't tell that Zelda is not an RPG, then how should you know that the dozens of games you call roguelikes aren't actually roguelikes.

Best 2D Zelda games. Minish cap was a huge step down

Got it on PC. Not as fantastic as the original, but it's unrealistic to expect it would be.

It is incredibly difficult to play B&W as a good god. Particularly as torching all non-believers and filling their homes with your followers is the easiest way to take over an enemy village >

People buying games go after the biggest and most popular games and series (which is why they are the biggest and most popular). If they always went after the biggest and most popular then ROM sets wouldn't be a thing and there would be no argument for preservation.

That is a lack of focus rather than lack of appreciation. I have literally over a thousand games in my steam library, to say nothing of the games I have for consoles and handhelds. But I can stick with the games I'm playing rather than flit between them all because I can't decide what to play.

I can't speak for the EU, but here in Australia electrical goods are expected to last for a certain period of time depending on price and type of appliance. Warranties mean nothing if the product becomes defective in an unreasonable time frame.

See we have these consumer protection organisations so that it doesn't have to become a court case. If I send my Joycons to Nintendo for drift repair and they refuse to do it for free, I can go to the ACCC with my issue (and present this complaint from BEUC as supporting evidence) and they'll tell Nintendo that there is a problem with their product and they either have to repair it, replace it, or give me a refund. Consumer protection is why Steam now offers refunds.
