Nintendo's latest financial report is now live, and with it, we've got an updated list of the total sales figures for the best-selling Switch games.
We say updated, but there's been absolutely no change between this quarter and last quarter in terms of placements! We're pretty sure that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons won't ever be taken over in the top two spots. Mario Kart now sits at 46.82 million units sold, and Animal Crossing is very close to hitting 40 million units.
There's been no changing places in this most recent quarter. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still rounds out the top three, while Breath of the Wild is peering in from the outside — but the Switch launch title has now sold over 27 million units.
See for yourself just how little things have shifted! You can check out March 2022's data right here for comparison. And don't forget, the data only includes Nintendo-published titles.
Here's the complete list of the top ten best-selling Switch games as of June 2022:

I thought Pokemon Arceus would have made the top 10 in this quarter but maybe in the next quarter. Impressive top 10 either way
@scotty123 I tought exactly the same pal... such a great game... best pokemon I've played in sooo long.. I would love a DLC during today's presentation..
I wonder how inflated the Pokémon game sales numbers are by people who want to buy both versions.
A lot of these games definitely deserve it!
@scotty123 too quick of a turn around from LA to announcing gen 9 less than 1 month later has likely heavily slowed down sales that always happens every time a new pokemon game is announced especially a new generation
GREAT to see Mario Party in Top 10!!
Captain Toad should be up there too 😃
I am happy Ring Fit Adventure sold so much. That game was a surprise hit for me. As was Animal Crossing. I expected it to be good, but not almost 1000 hours of playtime awesome. This might be my record so far.
Wait, that means that only 42% of people (111.08m consoles and 46.82m games) with a switch owns Mariokart?
No wonder it is in the top ten every week as the majority of people still do not own it.
Thats a lot of people with a switch that has never played BOTW.... Crazy (and i am accounting for the possibiliy that some played it on Wii U but not that much.
Are the sales numbers of Metroid Dread anywhere in the report as far as you can tell, Nintendolife?
Very curious whether it has topped 3 million and whether Shawn has to play Balan Wonderworld.
Now that SSB has essentially wrapped up, I could actually see BotW scraping ahead when the sequel hype hits its peak.
An absurd notion to even consider. BotW has had some legs.
I played 5 Switch games from the list above:
Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Pokemon Sword
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu
Super Mario Odyssey
But, currently I still have hype with Youtubers Life 2 PS4.
Super Mario Odyssey sold less than 25 million and its still on 6th place... That makes me sad. And I still can't understand why Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sells that much... Do people understand, that because of it, we will not get Mario Kart 9 on Switch? Oh, and also... How racing games haven't became a niche genre? Racing games are hard, AI in these games usually unbalanced, and they don't have proper lore/plot/story mode, if they have it at all! And, yep - I'm hater of racing games. I hate most of them.
I think they need a list of games that sell 10 million or more, not just top ten.
@Vyacheslav333 If people want to play Mario Kart they will buy Mario Kart. A game does not need a plot and lore to be great, engaging and fun.
I feel like Nintendo is a little stingy when it comes to worldwide game sales info. I'm super curious about lots of titles. I would love to know how most of the games are doing. Mario Maker 2? The new Metroid and WarioWare? All the Pokemon games? Maybe some info on the smaller dwnld games too. Nintendo is Nintendo, I guess...
It's a shame that just like Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars is seemingly going by with no DLC.
I think it's great to see that hundred thousands of people are still experiencing Breath of the Wild for the first time.
Sword and shield at 24 million or so, the mass fans have spoken, I can here the cries of celebrating mediocrity already.
I imagine Animal Crossing will become a top priority for the next entry with those sales.
@KBuckley27 I think the slowdown is a combo of Gen 9 and mild fatigue from BDSP releasing shortly before that's cannibalizing the sales of Legends Arceus. Legends Arceus also had barely any multiplayer and no competitive scene which is also hurting its sales. The game sales must have dropped hard considering it already sold 12 million in Q1. Pokemon really should space out their annual release schedule (like COD and Assassin's Creed have), it might lead to an increase in game quality instead of rushed and underdeveloped projects. They should release more spinoff titles in the meantime! On the other hand Sword/Shield has sold so well because of the lack of any major Pokemon titles for 2 years (late 2019 - late 2021) for competition, no 3rd version instead opting for DLC, and a very healthy competitive scene (also why Smash Ultimate has continued to sell well with another 1.5 million + this quarter alone).
@Vyacheslav333 it’s be o e the go to purchase for new system buyers. But I am also surprised that it has not continued to sell well. Bc if I were new to the system, I would definitely want both. Still, $25MM is nothing to sneeze at….
Well it looked for awhile there that Animal Crossing would eventually dethrone Mario Kart 8. Unless Nintendo starts packing in Animal Crossing with a console during holidays, it doesn't look like it will happen.
Also, this is the first time Zelda had best Mario! That's something.
And Ring Fit Adventure? Wow! That's impressive! Looks like that price drop really helped that title.
@Axecon yet pokemon fans have keep complaining they want more focus on the single player side for years, they finally get that and immediately forget about LA less than 1 month later because of the new gen, not all 20 plus million buy pokemon just for the online
@Friendly Unfortunately, the official numbers are still 2.9 millions, but still for Q1, they did not actualised it for Q2.
So technically, Shawn lost, but he wins because no-one says officialy otherwise
For those who want to see a longer list in an easy format, these numbers and more have also been stuck on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_Nintendo_Switch_video_games
Kinda wish Super Mario Maker 2 was in top 10, but glad to see it hanging in top 20 at least.
p.s. it would be an interesting poll question how many of the top 10 readers own. I have 6.
Besides me, as the only gamer, everyone else at home (around 6 people) only turns on our family Switch to play Mario Kart 8.
And we own almost all of the top ten titles on that list.
@KBuckley27
I suspect that the Pokemon fan base is the same as most others where those complaining online are not representative of the mass market
@EarthboundBenjy I wonder the same thing. I have two friends that each buy both versions regardless how they feel about the game before release.
