Re: Review: Neo Cab - A Memorable, Emotional Ride

I've been looking forward to this one since I saw it on the Nindies presentation--but I won't be buying it for the Switch, since it's out on Apple Arcade. I've got it downloaded onto my phone and will be giving it a try after I finish Mutazione! It's still early but Apple Arcade is shaping up to be a good complement to my Switch, since it has a good number of the indies I've been wanting but haven't been able to afford because there are too many freaking amazing games coming out this fall (I'm going for SWitcher this week, and possibly that new fitness adventure game depending on reviews... I need something to get me back into exercising a bit!).

Re: The Pokémon Sword And Shield Live Stream Is Now Over

I thought it was fine. I really just wish we’d seen the ponyta (and other species) interacting more with each other. Ponyta, at least, are supposed to be herd creature, right? At least we got some of that at the end. (Two floofs does not a herd make. Although I would also like to petition that we rename Gen VIII Gen FLOOF. We’ve got Wooloo, Cottonee, Alcremie, and now Galarian Ponyta... there’s so much floofiness in this Gen.).

Also, it probably would have been better to have shortened it to four hours or so. I think it was good that it tried to mimic actual wildlife observation studies but the gamer mentality isn’t as patient on average as that of the scientist.

Re: Move Over Edelgard, Fire Emblem Fans Seem To Have A New Three Houses Favourite

She's one of my favorites! She's really a well-written character, though. Her supports are among my favorites and she's one of the few students I'm actually tempted to romance, despite not being into the romance aspect of the game. Fortunately she's one of the same-sex options so I have the opportunity to S-Support her if I end up going for it.

Euuuurgh, though, some of her lines are absolutely heartbreaking. Only thorns left on this rose, indeed.

@Patron - Okay, this has to be trolling. And not particularly well-done trolling, either, if you're claiming that the fanbase is dwindling. This game has sold ridiculously well. Can you ditch the icon? It's pretty clear you're trying to troll people and you're certainly annoying the heck out of actual feminists like me.

Fire Emblem Three Houses for me. Maddening mode is a blast so far! After that I’ll probably take a break for until Infernal mode is released, I’m on my fourth playthrough (Church route) and feeling burnout start to hit.

I’ve also been trying out Apple Arcade. There are a lot of games on there that I wanted to get on the Switch but was having a bit of trouble budgeting for, so it’s been great so far. Blazed through Sayonara Wild Hearts and loved it so much I bought the soundtrack immediately afterwards. Might try NeoCab or Overland next.

Overland is here already? Man, that’s a tempting one.

I’m not usually big on multiplayer games, buuuuut I have a friend who is absolutely obsessed with Dead by Daylight so I might pick that up to play with him depending on how it runs on the Switch.

Re: Tetris 99 Teams Up With Fire Emblem: Three Houses For Special Grand Prix Event

Everyone on the fence about buying 3H, I really can’t recommend this game enough. It’s a great introductory point to the series and an absolutely phenomenal game as a whole. I personally almost exclusively in handheld mode—it’s so easy and relaxing to pull out my Switch during my lunch break or while I’m waiting for an appointment and explore the monastery or set lesson plans or mash a group of bandits to a pulp. It’s the first game since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I’ve sunk over a hundred hours into, and it took quite a bit longer to do that with XC2.

@Reigeatugatensho, you misspelled Golden Deer.

Re: Soapbox: Should I Wait For Switch 'Pro' Or Is The 'New' Switch SKU Worth An Upgrade?

readalie

I honestly have no interest in aPro, unless it includes some very drastic changes beyond graphics and battery and the like. My regular Switch is just what I need for personal use and for work.

I can understand why people want those improvements, sure, but it’s not something I myself care much about.

As for the Lite, that thing is going to print money due to families with kids and people who just prefer playing in handheld (if not for needing the docked mode for work and being addicted to mixing and matching joy-con colors, I’d have probably been an ideal customer for one myself).

Re: Rumour: "Cheaper Version Of The Switch" Expected To Launch By The End Of June

readalie

I usually ignore the cheaper/pro Switch rumors (has a month gone by in the last two YEARS where there hasn’t been at least one article about said rumors?), but launching something like this by the end of June without having announced it by now would just be ridiculous, even considering Nintendo’s fondness for surprises. A console is far different from Tetris 99.

Re: Locked Character Roster In Smash Bros. Ultimate Raises Concerns About Tournament Play

readalie

We actually just held a tournament at the library I work at yesterday! Unlocking all of the characters on multiple Switch consoles over the weekend was exhausting. My coworker handled one but I was left with the other three... and I am really, really, REALLY bad at the game. I was only able to fully unlock one Switch and mostly unlock a second (which meant we only had three Switches at the event rather than four, which made timing a bit of a concern). Still, everyone had a blast, so it was worth it!

Re: Guide: Which Pokémon GO Companion Device Is Best - Pokémon GO Plus, Poké Ball Plus Or The Go-tcha?

readalie

Does anyone know if, by using one of these, I could avoid racking up data fees on my phone while I’m traveling? I’ve got a three-week trip to Africa coming up and have pre-ordered the edition of Let’s Go: Eevee bundled with the Pokéball Plus, so I’d be thrilled to be able to use the controller to catch some Tropius that I might have otherwise had to miss out on.

I'm still wrapping up the main storyline of Xenoblade Chronicles 2--I just keep getting sucked into sidequests, I can't help it! I have Wolfenstein II waiting for me after I finish that, though, and then I might bite the bullet and buy Octopath Traveler.
