Re: Opinion: Raise A Glass To The Nintendo DS' Peculiar Peripherals

I actually bought easy piano off eBay recently, not that it's got much use lol.

The Pokémon typing game sounded awesome but unfortunately it required you to know lots of Pokémon beyond gen 2 which is basically where my knowledge stopped. I did play up to black and white but I'll be damned if I could name any Pokémon that wasn't originally from red/blue and to an extent gold and silver

But it was a nifty keyboard and I actually ended up buying like 4 of them on clearance and giving a couple away to family members because they worked as Bluetooth keyboards and I used to use mine on my mac

Re: Random: Stolen Pokémon Card Worth £30,000 Is Returned To Its Trainer

@dequesi I suspect the hype just never went away. The shiny Charizard was always the most sought after card in the playgrounds back when this came out originally.

I have no idea how rare they actually were compared to other shinys and I only remember seeing a couple back when I was at school but the hype about its rarity was definitely there so maybe people got old and remember that which pushes up the value further?

Re: Sonic Team Open To More Characters From Comic Series Appearing In Games

ralphdibny

Need some Sonic the Comic characters like Johnny Lightfoot and Tekno!

Used to love reading those comics when my mum left me in the magazine aisle of Co Op while she did the big shop when I was little!

And being so young, I really had no idea about the separation of games and comic "lore" at the time. I just thought it was one big world. Same with the old cartoon, especially when I found the hench-badniks in the game as generic enemies, the chicken and the Mr greedy looking tank with a drill nose.

I think it's why I had such a hard time adjusting to Sonic Adventure being set on earth when I thought everything was set on Mobius! I began to understand reinterpretations a bit more when Sonic Underground came out though

Re: Staff At UK Retailer GAME Reportedly Facing Redundancies

ralphdibny

@olliemar28 UK workers on zero hour contracts are actually supposed to receive holiday pay and SSP. Holiday entitlement is pro rated based on the number of hours worked (but I think it caps at a normal full time pay period - so you can't work for 60 hours/week and get more holiday entitlement than a full time worker)

I think SSP is available after like 3 months of employment or something (it doesn't have to be continuous work during that 3 months, they should still be employed as long as they haven't received a written termination of their contract)

Source: I am a zero hour contractor and I did all this research on gov.uk

However the reality is that some employers aren't always aware of the law and even if they are, they don't care that much and can get away with intimidation tactics so they don't get caught out.

Not saying it's good or bad, that's just the law plus my own anecdotal experience.

Re: TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Dev Would "Love" To Work On A Sequel

ralphdibny

I'm probably a fringe case but I bought the original game physically. I've yet to buy the DLC because I want to buy the complete edition and I haven't been that fussed yet to "overpay" for the DLC by getting the whole game again physically and maybe trying to make some money back by selling the original.

So overall, having had this experience, I wouldn't buy a sequel right away anyway. Id wait until a complete edition comes out.

Re: TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Lands A New Physical Edition With DLC Included This November

ralphdibny

Just like with SoR4.

The frustrating thing is sometimes you wait for these things and the old release becomes hard to find in the mean time.

I understand that sometimes publishers don't know if they will be doing a "double dip" edition in advance but it would be nice to have some clarity.

I will probably get this and trade in the old one but I must say I prefer the box art on the original.

Re: Reminder: Sonic The Hedgehog's New LEGO Sets Are Available Now

ralphdibny

The original set is actually still available in the UK from a lot of retailers. I think it's £50 on amazon

Will probably get a few of these when the price comes down. As usual the models and minifigures are divided up amongst the sets unfavourably for me -_-

I'd like to get the Amy and Tails minifigures and probably the Robotnik minifigure because it's different from the original set. I'd also like to have the plane from the Tails set and maybe a few of the badniks but I don't think I really need/want any of the other models.

Re: Feature: 21 Vintage Nintendo Games You Can Now Only Buy For Original Hardware

ralphdibny

As much as I love pointer shooters like duck hunt on the Wii u, I do wonder if Nintendo could do some witchcraft and somehow modify duck hunt to work with the IR camera on the joy con and a gun adapter that holds the joy con backwards. Something that would make it like a proper lightgun game that you have to physically aim with your eye instead of just moving a cursor around the screen like on Wii/Wii U games

Re: Soapbox: Getting The Master Sword In Tears Of The Kingdom Is Zelda At Its Best

ralphdibny

@tgt so I got it after all of the phenomena because I kind of thought going to see purah at that point would trigger the endgame so I was mopping up all the shrines.

But basically after you see Purah and complete Hyrule castle and you meet up with her after with all the gang, she is just like "WHAT?! You've found the fifth sage already?! And you've found the Master Sword?!" and that's basically it. She doesn't tell you to go see Tauro and do the final ring ruin so you can clear up the Thunder Isles which I guess she does if you do it properly? Could be wrong but it was really confusing and I had to look up the correct sequence of prompts to do it online.

I suspect that if you did get Mineru even earlier then the regional phenomena probably wouldn't change much as the final cut scenes for them were pretty much copy and pasted, I guess because you could technically do any one of them first so they had to explain (or re-explain) every little detail for each phenomena.

Re: Soapbox: Getting The Master Sword In Tears Of The Kingdom Is Zelda At Its Best

ralphdibny

Mine was a bit anti climactic because I did everything so completely out of order in this game.

I explored all of the underground and zapped myself up to the deku tree with ascend fairly early on in the story. Then later I randomly saw the dragon, landed on it, pulled a sword out of its head with my already maxed out stamina and that was it.

Didn't make sense until I did the teardrops fairly recently.

As a separate note, I even brute forced the thunder isles and got the fifth sage way before the game told me to. Unfortunately I've had a very disjointed but incredibly thorough playthrough of this game.

Re: Best Deals And Cheapest Games In The 3DS & Wii U eShop Sales

ralphdibny

Hey @dartmonkey , has NL reached out to Capcom to enquire about a UK/EU sale on their 3DS/Wii U games by any chance?

I'll probably hold out until the last day in a vain hope that their games will be discounted here in England.

I'm sure they won't discount them but I do wonder if the journalistic might of NintendoLife might convince them otherwise! Would be great if you could get in touch with them but no worries if not!

Be well, NL ✌️
