@Bomberman64
It’s a sad attempt at sounding intelligent while reviewing a video game. I call it sentence “fluffing”. Just simply an uneducated “journalist” trying to use “smart” sounding words...
To be quite frank I think it turned out to be a pretty good game. When you stop comparing it to other games and take it in as it is you see it for what it is and not what it could be. My house has been thoroughly enjoying it.
Oh lord here we go with all the Detective Pikachu comparisons for video game movies. DP was decent but it wasn’t necessarirly awe inspiring. The plot was basic at best and incredibly predictable. If it was any other movie under a different title, different characters but same story it wouldn’t have done so well. The name sold that movie so let’s stop with the comparisons before it gets too out of hand 😆
That is awesome! Very nostalgic! As absurd as they were I reall miss commercials of the 80s and 90s and I had no clue I did till I watched this commercial...
I’ve found that there are too many games saturating the “rogue” genres (roguelite and roguelike....potatoes pototoes...whatever). It’s like one in two games getting released these days falls into one of those categories so I’ve kinda stopped buying them...fatigue and all...
They gave me a review copy for my site last year and I loved it. Always made me feel bad for getting it free so I think I’ll probably show my support by buying the physical release.
The only review copies they sent out was for PS4 reason being because they wanted all aspects of the game to be covered including online. If they had everyone reviewing the same console version the larger the player base and supposedly the more enjoyable it would be. So suck it up NL...the Nintendo world doesn’t revolve around this one site with apparently huge egos...
@Anti-Matter My son is fairly addicted to Portal Knights. I have dabbled in it a time or two. It's a good game, just wish I had more time to really get into it.
After the abysmal ARK?...I don't think so. Plus, they seem to have a bad habit of overcharging for their bug infested games when they are cheaper everywhere else but the Switch while at the same time doing absolutely nothing to address said bug infestation....
@Haywired those games typically have a lot of other features and modes that justify the price. I do have a lot of RPGs in my collection though. 😉 $15 to $20 would have been about right.
I gave it an 8 on my site. It is a charming little game with big ambitions. I found it incredibly relaxing to play after crappy days of work. I would suggest laying back with an afternoon snack and a nice cup of joe or hot tea (Earl Grey or Oolong are my favorites) while playing it.
@Ikana64 I don't know if you have Amazon Prime or if that even makes a difference but I have it and when I pre-order games I always get them on release date. The only game that I got late even when pre-ordering was Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
I agree with the many that have stated that the same game can already be played on the 3DS using the DS version and a good many people still have that copy from the past. Nintendo seems to be under the impression that they can keep rehashing these games, making them available on their current system and people are going to buy them. I don't know about you guys but I hate buying the same game over and over and I'm not going to re-buy something unless there is a considerable advantage to doing so. Take Metroid Prime Trilogy for example. If the rumors are true and they do end up porting it to Switch, then yes, I will buy it again because it will be the only version that allows me to take it with me where ever I go. That is a huge advantage for me despite the fact that I own the original Wii steelbook version. Re-releasing a game like BIS has no advantage from what I can see if you own the original. Seems like Nintendo is just trying to get some releases out in an attempt to keep the 3DS alive. I love my 3DS but it's time to put it out to pasture as the Switch has been satisfying our home console/portable needs. If their intent was to keep the 3DS alive a bit longer then they kind of shot themselves in the foot by releasing a hybrid console.
@Tirza well to be honest they are two sides of the same coin and as long as we are being honest, I think it’s a ridiculous “genre” anyway. It’s more like a sub genre of another genre because of a few minute changes.
@Audiobrainiac Whoa, is "rad" making a comeback or are you just "old school" like myself (I grew up an 80's child)? Either way, it is still awesome that people are still using "rad"
Am I the only one that caught the subtle Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference in the title/subtitle for this post ("So long Wii Shop Channel and thanks for all the games" --> "So long and thanks for all the fish")? Then again it could have been coincidence
Just got finished playing through ToeJam and Earl Back in the Groove for a review on my site (can't post till Feb. 28th when the embargo lifts) so I might be looking into Wargroove. Hopefully we can land a review copy...if not I will more than likely buy it.
Everspace (doing a review for my site being ROCKFISH Games was generous enough to give us a review copy), Smash of course, Civ 6, and Splatoon 2 if I have some time.
I was really hoping that a new interface would be something to roll out with Switch Online in September... I guess this kinda kills that idea. Come on, Nintendo...
Still very strange seeing Sony's old mascot on other platforms. Great games and I've been enjoying them! Will just take some getting use to seeing him on my Switch much like when Sonic started showing up on other systems.
I'm not going to play coy here, I love Sega. I grew up with Sega just as much as grew up with Nintendo. It is very sad to see them in a decline. They had some excellent systems and some excellent IP. I really hope I live long enough to see them bounce back one of these days. Oh and if you guys haven't read Console Wars...I highly recommend it. It's 4 years old now so I'm sure that those who care have read it but if you haven't you should.
I really can’t speak for or against this situation. Business is business. If people really want to go after a company for bad business practices look no further than Walmart.
@Anti-Matter Interesting, I'm guessing they haven't released it outside of Japan just yet. I found an article stating Fantasy Life Online released in Japan at the end of July.
@vanYth ah you are correct! I keep forgetting that it came out on the N64. I had to update an article on my new site in light of this reminder so thank you very much! LOL
@Anti-Matter Fantasy Life was so so good! I truly hope there is one planned for the Switch. I heard they had a mobile game planned but I really hope not. I don't like gaming on my phone.
I’ve put almost 300 hours into New Leaf. If it had NES games built into it like the original on GameCube had (despite the fact that I own every single one in the original) it’d probably be more.
