Snail Games has announced that its upcoming open-world sandbox-survival game PixARK will launch on Nintendo Switch and all other major platforms on 31st May.
A new trailer for the announcement has been shared above, and you can learn more about the game, which is based on Ark: Survival Evolved, below:
To survive in this mysterious land, you must tame creatures both ferocious and cuddly, craft high tech and magical tools, and build your own base out of cubes. With a robust character creator, an infinite number of voxel based maps and procedurally generated quests, your PixARK adventure will be completely unique. Team up with friends to form a tribe, or play on your own. Spend your time building a towering fortress or go on a quest in a sprawling cavern. Fly on the back of a dragon and smite your enemies with a magic wand, or ride a mighty T-Rex and blast your foes with a rocket launcher. In the world of PixARK, how you play is up to you – as long as you survive!
If you're feeling ready to explore a world of mystery, danger, ancient dinosaurs, mythical beasts, and cubes, you might want to check out this second trailer which was released earlier this year, too.
The game will be launching both physically and digitally, so make sure to keep an eye out for that lovely physical edition if you're a collector.
Will you be picking this one up? Let us know in the comments.

So... Pixark = Monster Hunter in Minecraft style ?
This should have been named MinecrArk.
Also it looks way funnier than the original.
Well, they can't screw up this port as badly as the original game on Switch, right?
...Right?
Looks good. I'll be keeping an eye out for the review.
As long as it runs right, I might give it a chance.
@PikaPhantom You should have seen the beta version of Ark on PC. Even a NASA level PC wasn't able to run the game smoothly even in lower resolution. Back then, I had a good middle/high end PC able to run any game smoothly except Ark even in ultra low settings (which looked worse than SuperFX graphics).
If this runs as bad as the original ARK still does, no thanks.
I’d be interested if it is cross platform and you can play in private servers. The original sounded miserable that people could come and take all your stuff while you were logged out.
$40? They crazy.
This is $25 in early access on Steam and people still not happy with it.
Lovely little Saturday morning cartoon ditty they have running in this trailer.
For 40 bucks, that's a no for me. What do you think, Simon?
Do not buy this, don't buy anything from Wildcard, Grapeshot, or Snailgames.
It somehow runs worse than Ark.
So does this even run decently on PS4 because Ark doesn't even run decent on PS4. That's not even including the nightmare switch port.
ARK should be renamed ARGH.
meh. after portal knights I'vd had my fill with these games (portal knights was pretty sweet though)
I like the idea of the game, but have zero expectations. The steam version is still in early access with lots of negative reviews. How are they going to release a stable game next month?
So does this mean the original game is up and running smoothly for the switch now? Did they even patch the original?
That trailer looks way way better than I expected. It's still slightly laggy but considering who made it maybe we shouldn't quibble about such relatively minor things by their standards!!
Even so, I'm not even thinking about touching this until there have been a bunch of reviews. While Ark did really well on Xbox the makers still burned a lot of goodwill by making seemingly dumb decisions so it's on them to prove their stuffs. Making a truly epic physical edition including cool real things like stickers and postcards would go some way towards restoring their goodwill meter.
Yet Wildcard still can’t find time to fix Ark on X1. Gotta be one of the poorest quality control companies since...ever.
...I expected Pixar stuff...this isn't Pixar stuff...
Haha! This is awesome!
Honestly I just want Ark to die already. I had really high hopes for the game and the devs have simply squandered it. Wildcard will go down as my most hated development studio after this.
Seriously guys, fix your messed up game first. As a PS4 owner, I was completely ripped off. Your "game" is barely functional.
@Solomon18
Eh?
You play Portal Knights Switch too ? 😀
I hope it runs well for those who want it. I just wont even try this game if they won’t fix the original on Switch. It’s a shame.
After the abysmal ARK?...I don't think so. Plus, they seem to have a bad habit of overcharging for their bug infested games when they are cheaper everywhere else but the Switch while at the same time doing absolutely nothing to address said bug infestation....
@Anti-Matter My son is fairly addicted to Portal Knights. I have dabbled in it a time or two. It's a good game, just wish I had more time to really get into it.
