Team17 has announced that its upcoming sci-fi platform adventure Planet Alpha will be launching on Nintendo Switch on 4th September.
Developed by Adrian Lazar of Planet Alpha ApS game studio, Planet Alpha is an atmospheric side-scrolling platform adventure game combining fast platforming, creative puzzles, stealth mechanics, and a unique - and beautiful - art style. A brand new trailer (which you can view above) has been released to celebrate this new announcement.
In the game, you awake on a strange alien world complete with a whole host of mystical, exotic flora and fauna. As you explore the world around you, you'll uncover the ability to rotate and control the planet. You’ll have to combine fast platforming action with stealth and creative puzzle solving to survive and uncover the truth behind this mysterious new world.

Thumbnail looks like a neat 3D exploration game.
Video shows a 2D side-scrolling platformer.
I'm disappointed.
nice!
Reminds me of Another World; I'll have to keep an eye on this.
Looks like inside. INNNNNN SPAAAAAAACCCCEEEEEEEE..... Im sold !
what about superfrog?
Looks beautiful!!
Totally In!! Looks beautiful.
Love the look of this one. Gorgeous Graphics along with some good looking gameplay and concepts, oh yes I'm in.
Can't wait for this to come out. It and Hyper Light Drifter are the next games I really want on my switch (barring something insane like super metroid coming to the system).
Wow, this looks great!
Got my eye on it. Fairly certain that the trailer they’re showing, isn’t the Switch version. Wonder how it’ll compare.
Looks good but that was PC showing of what the world could look like. I wonder what they had to cut from the switch version and if it takes away from the atmosphere of the game.
We can all agree that looks amazing, trailer sold us on that. But... gameplay seems lame, as long as you run to the right nothing bad will happen to you! The only thing dodged was the last one at the end and it looked like another miss. Seems these aliens went to the Storm Trooper shooting academy. Need a detailed review!
@ConanLives Yeah, still looking everyday for news on Hyper Light which still has a "summer" release date...I need it. NOW.
Looks good, but I think this is a case where "less is more" makes a difference, comparing this to something like Playdead's Inside.
Visually, it looks fantastic! I'm concerned about the gameplay though. So far it just looks like a running simulator...an absurdly pretty one, yes, but a running simulator all the same.
This looks incredible! As long as it runs well I will certainly pick this up at some point
@Octane I was thinking what happen to the 3d game lol.
Looks really nice but seems like a missed opportunity for a great 3D title rather than a 2D side scroller.
Looking sharp as ever!
