With another lack of major arrivals this week, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has managed to secure a sixth consecutive week at the top of the UK gaming charts.
The UK charts have an increasingly familiar look about them this week with Crash sitting at number one and LEGO The Incredibles also keeping hold of its number two spot directly behind. Both titles have had multiple weeks of joy at the lofty heights of the table, and look set to stay there - or thereabouts - as we enter a relatively quiet month for new releases.
Switch sales have been steadily rising over the summer months, and while we'd like to think that this is thanks to 'Nintendo Karen'-style roof parties taking place up and down the country, this is actually more likely because of Nintendo's evergreen list of big-hitters. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe actually tops the individual format chart this week, selling more copies than the highest-selling version of Crash Bandicoot (which was on Xbox One); it was the combined sales of Crash on all three platforms which helped it to stay at number one on the all formats chart.
Speaking of that all formats chart, here's this week's top ten:
1. (1) Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy
2. (2) LEGO The Incredibles
3. (5) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
4. (3) The Crew 2
5. (7) Grand Theft Auto V
6. (6) Call of Duty: WWII
7. (4) God of War
8. (13) Super Mario Odyssey
9. (9) Jurrasic World Evolution
10. (10) Mario Tennis Aces
Did you buy any of these chart-topping games this week? Any surprises this time around? Let us know your thoughts below.

Mario gonna make a lot of gold!
To play Crash Bandicoot on Nintendo Switch probably was like a "Sweet Revenge" against Playstation machine, considered Crash was Former Sony mascot games.
You just can't keep a bandicoot down.
Three Mario games in the top ten!
@SmaggTheSmug
Add with Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity, Nitro Kart HD Remaster on Nintendo Switch, Crash games will be on the TOP very Long time.
Does anyone know why Super Mario Odyssey jumped back into the top 10? Was there a sale or something?
Anyways, good numbers for Nintendo. And Crash Bandicoot continues to do well. That’s only a good thing for 3D platforming fans.
I prefer to follow the individual charts because it's more like Media Creates Of course multiplats will the all format charts.
It’s just an evergreen, high attach rate with every Switch purchase (along with BOTW and MK8 Deluxe), don’t believe it’s left the top 20 yet since launch @FlimFlam
I really really never saw this deep seated hidden love for Crash lurking beneath the surface of gaming....I can't begin to guess where it came from. Though maybe it's a UK thing?
I had no idea people loved Crash so much... I wonder how Warioware Gold is doing? I hope it sells well because it truly is the best Warioware ever and I don’t want the franchise to die.
Finally picked up a copy of Mario tennis aces can't wait to open it later.
Yeah, because Crash is the greatest platformer of all time + 3 games in 1? Insta buy
On one hand it's cool to see a platformer have so much chart dominance in the UK, instead of a shooter or sports game... But man, Crash really isn't a very good game in my opinion.
@NEStalgia It did well everywhere, but NOTHING like the UK.
@ricklongo Agreed. I revisited the PS1 Crash games a year or two ago and was shocked by how bad they were.
Crash was quite a big thing in the UK back in the day (if I remember correctly)
Also, a lot more gamers are aging gamers who played the originals so nostalgia counts for everything (Like me, I played the original but not number 2 or 3 so had to buy it)
@Bunkerneath @Ralizah That must explain it. I hadn't realized all the hype for it here was UK centric. That explains why it was a name I'd hardly ever heard in 15 years aside from it's cameo in Uncharted 4 yet it's somehow the best selling video game since Tetris.....in the UK.
@ricklongo Yeah, I can't really believe it's so popular...it's so....so-so. The big thrill at the time was the "wow" factor and the surprises. That 3d platformer with wrap-arounds and things popping out was very surprising and new. It made the otherwise awful gameplay seem better.
Even at the time though I think Crash is the reason I never took Playstation as a serious video game console. I was a platforming buff. Nintendo had Mario. Sega had Sonic. Playstation had.....this.... I kind of lumped PS in with Jaguar, WonderSwan, 3DO, and CDi as "not a real game console" as a result I didn't understand it when PS2 took off like crazy!
Who keeps buying GTA V? Doesn't everyone own it already lol?
The uk lists is always a bit odd to me
Well Japan has a love affair with Monster Hunter, in America it's Call of Duty and in UK it's Crash Bandicoot obviously.
Mario Kart 8 DX topped the individual formats charts for the 1st time since its second week on the market back in May 2017.
As I suspected, Go Vacation is actually seeing legs.
Still very strange seeing Sony's old mascot on other platforms. Great games and I've been enjoying them! Will just take some getting use to seeing him on my Switch much like when Sonic started showing up on other systems.
But I thought running was Sonic's shtick?
Exits stage left amidst booing

@Tyranexx i thought it was pac-man as well.
@NEStalgia
It certainly took the PS1 a while to get going platformer wise. Rayman and Jumping Flash at launch then the first Crash which wasn’t amazing. But in typical PS-style, just through sheer weight of software it got some worth having. Pandemonium, then Crash got better 2nd and especially 3rd game. The Spyro games were good, it got an excellent Klonoa, the Tomba games are underrated and Croc is good. Then there’s Symphony of the Night, the Oddworlds, Toy Story 2 and Rayman 2 (though I think that was better on N64). Not up to N64 standards but more than enough for most people.
@electrolite77 Yeah, looking back, PSX was a good system. Particularly, for me, the Square RPGs, of course. But I only discovered that much later after the fact. Back at the day, there were two consoles, Nintendo and Sega. Playstation was that weird wannabe from a VCR maker like all those other weird wannabes from video companies in the day
@nintendoPLAYROOM Is it any stranger than seeing Sonic appearing on almost every platform? Crash was only the PlayStation mascot for about 4 or 5 years, sonic was sega's mascot for console generations and now he's basically Mario's occasional gym buddy and an overall nomad.
@NEStalgia
And Ape Escape! That’s the best one. Forgot that. Very Nintendo in its desire to show off a new Controller and a bit Rare-esque in its humour. And (whispers) I thought Jak and Daxter was better than Mario Sunshine.
Yeah I’d say the cr am of the crop hat gen was on the N64 but the PS1 just had so many games you can see why it did so well.
@electrolite77 You know, I've still yet to try Sunshine. I never had a GCN and never bought it when I was collecting GCN games for Wii. Though if Jak is better that doesn't give me much hope for Sunshine...I don't think Jak holds up too well. I bought the trilogy on Vita some years back and felt like Jak 1 held up better than 2 and 3....but had that horrible janky camera from the era.
@bigcalsworld I believe several goldfish keep putting it off due to memory.
@NEStalgia
The cameras not great. Though the Vita version wasn’t great either, overall I mean. If you don’t like that aspect of J&D, Sunshine may not impress you either....
@electrolite77 I played part of Jak 2 on PS2, but in the post PS3 world and wasn't impressed either. Honestly I think my favorite Jak is either 1 or that spinoff pest control game on PSP It was better than 2 IMO!
2 is remembered fondly for its storytelling, something that was new in the era, and something ND still excels at (maybe too much.) But the gameplay I think gets overlooked based on the good storytelling.
@NEStalgia
As a huge fan of 1, I thought 2 was pretty disappointing. It had been decided that people didn’t want platformers anymore (even though the first one sold over 2 million) so, as was the style at the time, they tried to make the 2nd game darker and full of ‘tude. (See also-Prince of Persia)
The first game though, for me anyway, sits near the very top of any list of best 90s-style collectathon platformers ever. Maybe not right at the top table with Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie but above Sunshine, DK64, Rayman 2 and 3, Banjo-Tooie etc. It’s if it’s time but has some marvellous level design and a very consistent world.
@electrolite77 yeah, i definitely remember some really cool things about it... But also enough dated things to put me off.i think if i discovered it in it's own time rather than long after it had been surpassed if remember it more fondly. Still, 1 was clearly Superior to 2 and 3. 2 gets all the hype but was honestly horrible. But i still think the daxter spin-off on psp was the series best!
I think crash is like one of those movies that lots of people either love or really like, but no critic would call a classic. Kinda like the emperors new groove.
@NEStalgia
I need to play that one more. Maybe I need another Vita....
bizar list.
mario kart 8 deluxe still outselling god of war and call of duty, even the 16 months old mario odyssey is still in the top 10.
great days for nintendo.
and especialy for the studio that was willing to port crash bandicoot to the nintendo switch, should be praised
