Re: Talking Point: There's Never Been A Better Time For Gaming Consumers, Nor A Worse Time For Gaming Innovation

@Wexter Two interesting notes related to 365 that have an impact here. (I am using you as a jump-off point here because you mentioned 365)

1. Microsoft announced it will be selling a stand-alone version of Office again. That means it recognizes that not everyone wants to perpetually rent their software. That is what streaming does.

2. Microsoft had a major 365 outage yesterday for about two hours. Could you imagine a gaming system going down. People complain enough now when on-line servers crash. That is what could be the case if everything is cloud-based. This potential problem does not get discussed enough.

@EmirParkreiner I cannot find a full list of games in each edition — so I was just going by title. I apologize for getting the game list incorrect.
My point to compare the price to the Namco collections was in the number of different games. After all, many of these games are just variations on a theme. I would be much more likely to buy in the 40 euro range personally.

However, this is an excellent package for the Space Invaders fanatic. I just wonder if Taito had priced it lower, if they would have sold a lot more and made more money.

@EmirParkreiner The JP version of the Invincible Collection is $57 at Playasia (though I cannot 100% confirm it has the same lineup).

I should point out that my problem is not with Strictly Limited (or PlayAsia) but with Taito. The NAMCO Museum Archives, admittedly digital, are 11 games for each for $20 (USD) on the eShop. That is why I made my price comment.

Essentially, unless you really love Space Invaders, this does not seem to be a must buy. I wonder what the smaller retail edition will include (and how much it will cost - and how much of a discount it will eventually get).

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

Many of the comments herein are quite salient — particularly those with respect to the way Nintendo tied games to consoles.

However, it be noted that the the closing eShops are ones which only function as code redemption locations. Games cannot be bought directly from these places. Thus, it could be case that no one is still selling those codes, so there is no reason to keep them open. (Not sure what functions are tied to the eShop, but that could be a general disclaimer).

As for existing eShops, the WiiU eShop is so forgotten that one developer still had games for sale on there 18 months after they lost the rights to distribute them.

Re: PC Engine Mini Production And Shipment Delayed Indefinitely By Coronavirus

What is interesting is the Amazon listing (which is the exclusive outlet for this unit in the United States) says nothing about the delay as of 9 a.m. EST (UTC-5) on March 6.

However, the unit and its accessories — instead of being up for pre-sale — are listed as not available and Amazon is unsure when/if they will become available again.
