At day four of Gamescom 2020, The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon DLC director Carrie Patel shared pre-release footage of a side quest in this part of the game. Take a look above.
The Outer Worlds' first expansion will be made available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 9th September, and as previously confirmed by Private Division, is also on the way to the Nintendo Switch - but doesn't have a release date yet.
Here's a more recent reminder of this, along with another tweet that the publisher is still hard at work on a patch for the Nintendo version of the game:

I really liked how the story was complete and had a distinct end. It does kinda feel like they’re finding excuses to put in DLC in a game that honestly stands on its own, which is rare these days.
I still haven't gotten the game yet, so if the Switch version is massively approved by the next few years, I'll buy that version. If not, the other versions are always there ¯(ツ)/¯.
Before releasing the DLC, I hope they release the patch to fix the base game. Initial reviews left much to be desired and I would rather have the base game fixed than have more jank in the form of dlc.
"We're still waiting on a Switch release date"
Are we though?
I have yet to buy for Switch, everyone I talked to said to save my eyes and don't do it man...
@Yanina Yes, a Switch release date for the DLC.
@Liam_Doolan I was joking. Because everybody hates the port of the main game.
I don't want 3rd party games to come to Switch if we're going to get barely functional ports that don't get the same content support as other platforms.
I've heard nothing but bad things about this port. It's insulting to Switch owners. Don't make promises you can't keep Obsidian. Shame on you.
More interested in the patch first to see if they can tidy up the visuals a bit, then I’ll return to the game
Christ, if all most of you wanted to do was create an echo chamber moaning about the game then you've certainly achieved it. Me, I enjoy the game for the gameplay, warts and all.
I saw a few videos on YouTube and it's clear that the textures on the outside areas are horrible and make the world look lifeless.
However, the indoor areas look much better (not great) and the game seems to run well.
My question is, would a patch to improve the quality, is this game good enough to buy?
Does anyone here have it on the Switch and can tell me about the gameplay itself?
I might want to purchase it once the patch is released but want to know if the actual game is good.
Peril on Gorgon? Are the Gorgonites being attacked by the Commando Elite again?
I wonder if anyone will understand the reference.
I've heard this game was a broken mess. So far it's not been fixed.
Not about to waste my money on this.
I see how outer worlds turned out and I'm wondering how in the world are they going to get subnautica on the switch.
Prioritise the patch first please!
@WesEds I'm still waiting on a Small Soldiers sequel.
I'm more excited for them to patch it... not a graphics snob by any stretch and normally don't see graphics issues when others do but when I started the game the pop-in etc was even noticeable to me so I'm holding off on playing it.. crazy excited to play this game on the go when it is released!
I bought Outer Worlds a month or so back when it was on sale for $40. It's a pretty decent game, all things considered, and the performance isn't THAT bad, but it's not great, either. It's more than playable, but there is definite room for improvement. Its biggest shortcoming is the visuals which are occasionally pretty but mostly very ugly.
I do want to finish the game eventually, because it's fun to play, but I'm hoping a patch can improve things.
I am still waiting for this to come down in price before buying the base game.
Glad they are fixing it on Switch before trying to sell more DLC.
Played the base on PC Game Pass, it is fine - not sure I would come back to it for more.
@tourjeff I had never really fully delved into a game like this before and was really digging the Switch port but the minute I played it on Xbox, I never went back. The loading and lack of detail killed it for me after that. But overall, if you don't mind those nitpicks, the game is really entertaining if you dig the idea of Fallout on Switch
Virtuos, I hope you´re reading all these comments. Whenever you patch the base game, I will get it, like a lot of people.
The DLC will be cool and all, I´m sure about it, but first what needs to come first. And if they release a Definitive Edition with the DLC included, that´d be better (just saying).
So, you guys think the DLC will be just as buggy, or MORE buggy? Place your bets now!
