Re: Poll: How Many 3DS Consoles Have You Owned?

mercilessrobot

Eight. Dang.

1. Original blue 3DS
2. Blue 3DS XL
3. Red New Nintendo 3DS XL
4. New Nintendo 3DS
5. Blue 2DS (kids)
6. Red 2DS (also kids)
7. Galaxy New Nintendo 3DS XL
8. Purple New Nintendo 2DS XL

That's a lotta Nintendo hardware. Hadn't even thought about how many have gone through my hands. Still have 4 of them (5-8)!

@MegaMari0 Yeah, like @Cashews said, Codename STEAM is almost always $4.99-5.99 used. It's a total steal at that price too. There's a shop near me with at least 5 copies that just sit there. I have to believe that people will eventually discover how good it actually is. Make sure to download the update file because it greatly improves the base game. You're going to want that.

@riChchestM A kids drawing that isn't for sale is a straw man argument. We are talking about extremely large corporations here. I am not saying you shouldn't buy the games while they're available. That is what I myself am doing. But if a corporation wants to make it impossible to "legally" buy their stuff then I personally have no moral qualms about procuring their software through other means.

@Serpenterror & @Dr_Luigi It's already out though. You can order it and have it tomorrow from Best Buy and Amazon. I think that might have been the point @Panopticon was trying to make. Either way, it's out and you can get it right now, at least in the US.

The game is definitely not good. In fact it is demonstrably bad. Then why did I spend 5 hours playing it this weekend? Why???? It's so obviously a money siphon. Every time you build something the next one is 50%+ more expensive than the last in resources, gold, etc. The entire thing is designed to be pure evil. Yet somehow I was having weird, zoned-out, bored fun. I don't get it.

Re: Review: Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Doesn’t Quite Nail The Landing

@rushiosan Sega didn't have anyone make anything. Another company (Forever Entertainment) licensed the rights to make the game from SEGA Holding Co., the group that manages their legacy IP. Their logo never appears in the game. The only mention is a tiny ©Sega on the screen because it still is their IP.

Also for those wishing they made Zwei, Forever owns the rights to make that one too. It's on that website linked above.

I had a suspicion that the game wouldn't be that great because of "Forever Entertainment." Every single title they've put out suffers in some way shape or form. Usually in performance and overall quality. Another thing is that they tend to drop their prices to 99 cents or 1.99 within weeks of release. So wait and it will be cheap. I really wish that I did and didn't splurge buy this at full price. Not sure what I expected. It's fine... but that's all. Just fine. I would have preferred a straight up dated port of the original game with identical frame rate and graphics.

Re: Review: Overland - A Survival Roguelike That's Often Too Frustrating For Its Own Good

I’m playing it on my iPhone w Apple Arcade and it is... ok. I want to love it but it’s a hard game to love. There is a definite sense of loneliness and hopelessness though and I know that was one of their goals in making it. So props for achieving that.

If you have an iPhone though and want to treat the Apple Arcade version as an extended demo (albeit with bad touch controls) you can get a good feeling for the game there. Free month long trial of Apple Arcade too so you can try it for free.

Hope this helps.

I own this version. When you’re not directly staring at other versions you don’t notice these “issues” most of which are really, seriously, not a big deal. The thing that IS a big deal is the audio crackle and sound cutting in and out when going in and out of a load or auto save. That needs to get fixed immediately. Otherwise I’m fine with everything else. It runs and looks great imo.
