1. Original blue 3DS 2. Blue 3DS XL 3. Red New Nintendo 3DS XL 4. New Nintendo 3DS 5. Blue 2DS (kids) 6. Red 2DS (also kids) 7. Galaxy New Nintendo 3DS XL 8. Purple New Nintendo 2DS XL
That's a lotta Nintendo hardware. Hadn't even thought about how many have gone through my hands. Still have 4 of them (5-8)!
@MegaMari0 Yeah, like @Cashews said, Codename STEAM is almost always $4.99-5.99 used. It's a total steal at that price too. There's a shop near me with at least 5 copies that just sit there. I have to believe that people will eventually discover how good it actually is. Make sure to download the update file because it greatly improves the base game. You're going to want that.
Anyone else getting an error that the eShop is down for maintenance this morning? I opened it to redownload a couple things and I can't get to that page. Great day for them to be having issues like that.
@riChchestM A kids drawing that isn't for sale is a straw man argument. We are talking about extremely large corporations here. I am not saying you shouldn't buy the games while they're available. That is what I myself am doing. But if a corporation wants to make it impossible to "legally" buy their stuff then I personally have no moral qualms about procuring their software through other means.
I have never played a Forever Entertainment game that didn't have issues of some kind. Recently a lot of their games have been SO CLOSE to being pretty great. I hope that this one really sticks the landing.
@Serpenterror & @Dr_Luigi It's already out though. You can order it and have it tomorrow from Best Buy and Amazon. I think that might have been the point @Panopticon was trying to make. Either way, it's out and you can get it right now, at least in the US.
@Lizuka I wish they were bundled with the game itself. Open the game and be presented with options: Original, SP 1, SP 2, etc kind of a thing. Because I agree, it is super cluttered and will only get worse. Like the eShop though, I don't expect anything to change.
I wonder if all the Verizon ads and product placement will still be in it. I hope not. Loved the game and my one major gripe was the weird forced Verizon junk in it.
After the update performance felt much worse to me. My current save is in the middle of a pretty intense battle and I was experiencing skipping and inconsistent performance that wasn’t there before.
@BanjoPickles Right? The only way it was passable was if you owned 4 gbas, 4 link cables, the game, and a gamecube. All of the reviews knocked it because it was awful if you didn't have that exact setup and you know how many people did? Nobody I knew.
No couch co-op killed this for me. I want to play it with my kids and my friends in my house... not having to buy multiple copies of the game and have multiple systems.
I was scared away by the way the game rolls out all of it’s terms and policies. Then a YouTube video. Then errors. It just felt icky to me. I ended up deleting it before I ever got to the game. Wading through all of that crap reminded me that this game isn’t for me.
@BlackenedHalo I hear ya. Looks like a janky Doom clone from the 90s reprocessed through an open source 3D engine. Kinda weird. If it's slick and fun I could get used to it tho.
The sprites in this game just look.... not great to me. I'll probably get it anyway though as my first love is Doom and all Doom-clones. So I'm sure I'll get over the looks and love the game.
Almost every game and collectible shop around where I live has a tub of these things on the counter. Cheap knockoffs are so common. $1 a piece. They probably seize loads of this stuff every day. They can’t catch all of these shipments and clearly don’t.
The game is definitely not good. In fact it is demonstrably bad. Then why did I spend 5 hours playing it this weekend? Why???? It's so obviously a money siphon. Every time you build something the next one is 50%+ more expensive than the last in resources, gold, etc. The entire thing is designed to be pure evil. Yet somehow I was having weird, zoned-out, bored fun. I don't get it.
Am I the only one who lolled about realism being talked about in regards to an Animal Crossing game? New Horizons is great and I agree that these changes would improve things tho.
Everyone, you're getting it twisted. This is NOT a Sega product. It is a Forever Entertainment product. They got the license to to it from Sega. So if you're going to throw hate around, at least throw it at the right company. Just sayin'.
I had a suspicion that the game wouldn't be that great because of "Forever Entertainment." Every single title they've put out suffers in some way shape or form. Usually in performance and overall quality. Another thing is that they tend to drop their prices to 99 cents or 1.99 within weeks of release. So wait and it will be cheap. I really wish that I did and didn't splurge buy this at full price. Not sure what I expected. It's fine... but that's all. Just fine. I would have preferred a straight up dated port of the original game with identical frame rate and graphics.
I've gotten a full refund for a downloaded game on my Switch. You just have to have a valid reason and they will do it. In this case I bought a game for my kids and then realized there was content in the game that was offensive. Called Nintendo, instant refund.
I’m playing it on my iPhone w Apple Arcade and it is... ok. I want to love it but it’s a hard game to love. There is a definite sense of loneliness and hopelessness though and I know that was one of their goals in making it. So props for achieving that.
If you have an iPhone though and want to treat the Apple Arcade version as an extended demo (albeit with bad touch controls) you can get a good feeling for the game there. Free month long trial of Apple Arcade too so you can try it for free.
I own this version. When you’re not directly staring at other versions you don’t notice these “issues” most of which are really, seriously, not a big deal. The thing that IS a big deal is the audio crackle and sound cutting in and out when going in and out of a load or auto save. That needs to get fixed immediately. Otherwise I’m fine with everything else. It runs and looks great imo.
As a day one buyer I gotta say that I feel like I got the shaft big time. I was never once able to enjoy a full game even on launch day. Waiting a year for the game to “be better” is lame. Double lame is that in game special bonuses are being given to PC owners for playing the beta. I gave them $20 a year ago and didn’t get a playable game.
@Captain_Toad Was about to say the same thing. This looks like an asset flip game from Steam. The reviews on Steam make it look like it is marginally above that. That said even the positive reviews say that it is extremely unpolished and incomplete.
@abduz Because I personally feel ripped off if I paid $99.99 for a game that not all of the content is finished for. Whatever. I buy a flip-ton of games for my Switch and feel like I've done a pretty good job of supporting 3rd party devs.
@N8tiveT3ch That port was more solid than people gave it credit for. It had big issues to be sure. It wasn’t a complete failiure. That team has gone on to port Skyrim to Switch and have did an awesome job.

Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
@MegaMari0 Codename Steam is very underrated.
Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
@Tasuki That is a straw man argument. Not equivalent. Corporations aren't people. No need to get all bunched up over them.
Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
@Tasuki That makes literally no sense. 😹

Re: Atari And Jeff Minter's Psychedelic Shmup 'Akka Arrh' Lands Release Date
Minter has made some mind-bending arcade games. Really excited to take this for a spin. Space Giraffe on xbox 360 is nuts.

@PALversusNTSC Super positive take.

Re: Review: Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Doesn’t Quite Nail The Landing
@Thaliard Bingo.
Re: Review: Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Doesn’t Quite Nail The Landing
@rushiosan Also I think we are basically agreeing but arguing semantics. I suggest a truce.
Re: Review: Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Doesn’t Quite Nail The Landing
@rushiosan Sega didn't have anyone make anything. Another company (Forever Entertainment) licensed the rights to make the game from SEGA Holding Co., the group that manages their legacy IP. Their logo never appears in the game. The only mention is a tiny ©Sega on the screen because it still is their IP.
https://forever-entertainment.com/panzer-dragoon-remake-i-panzer-dragoon-ii-zwei-remake,161,en
Also for those wishing they made Zwei, Forever owns the rights to make that one too. It's on that website linked above.
Re: Review: Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Doesn’t Quite Nail The Landing
@Wavey84 I agree. Panzer Dragoon Orta on the original Xbox looks better imo. Either way, I own this now so I'm going to play it.
