I played Taiji on PC and quite enjoyed the game. It’s not as quite as well designed as the Witness, but I think I enjoyed it more. In large part because Taiji didn’t over stay its welcome.
Animal Crossing and Hades top my list for the Switch. Paper Mario’s up there too. Mario 3D all-stars is my biggest disappointment, but to each their own:)
While I can’t yet say Switch is better than SNES, as far as single years go 2017 was amazing. Plus it brought me back into the Nintendo Universe as before ‘17 the previous Nintendo game I played was way back in 2010
@HalBailman I'm not sure Doom 1 is distinctly better, but the larger convoluted levels of Doom 2 didn't always lead to a better experience. Many people (like me:) do prefer 1 better because of its tighter level design. But I have been enjoying both.
I enjoyed the game on iOS as a fun timekiller. But $35? That seems insane. You can pick up 2 great indie games for that price. More if they're on sale.
Arms was and is a ton of fun. I'm sure I'll continue to play a few rounds every now and then.
I'm extremely disappointed in how Nintendo handled the game down the stretch. Zero fanfare for the last party crash, not even a sale. And more importantly no update to allow the party crash events to be available by some other means now that the events ended. I didn't expect Splatoon Final Fest levels, but something more than nothing.
@DikkeSnikkel Maybe that’s true for you, but not everyone. I play 3-4 “AAA” games a year. Most of my time is spent playing indies because they are more bite sized. I can play much more variety with my limited game time. RDR2 will be my GOTY, but after that my “list” is full of indies.
@Agramonte What? You’re correct that competition on PC is much higher, but Wandersong is a phenomenal game. Regardless of platform it’s worthy of anyone’s time looking for a fun upbeat game. I hope the game gets more exposure because it deserves it.
All those people downplaying this as not a big deal come back after you lose your 400 hour Splatoon save file. There is NO go reason for it. Saying it's to prevent people rolling back lost ranks is a cop out. Your entire save and rank should be stored server side like every other online game on every other platform handles it.
Nintendo is the ONLY console you can't freely back up your saves in some manner despite also being the only portable console. And apparently now we can't even pay to keep our saves safe.
@Rafke @Colbalt The game does look generic, but to overlook a game just because it happened to be on mobile is a mistake. (The game's also on Steam...) Red's Kingdom has it's issues. Backtracking can become tedious having to redo puzzles, but I thought the game was neat. I would recommend the game on mobile where its sliding mechanic works perfectly.
For those wondering @MrJuancho is wrong. Not only is there almost no similarity between Paladins and Fortnite, other than both have guns, but the Paladins Founders pack to unlock all characters costs money on all platforms The only difference on switch is that it -also- grants early access.
Crossplay? I couldn't care less if the game appears elsewhere, but if there's crossplay, then great! Online is all but dead on Switch.
I got the game over the holidays for half price, and the game is pretty cool. Maybe not amazing, but apparently the post launch patches and added content really improved the game. I know I've enjoyed my time with it.
Though I am bummed Switch doesn't have a special character:( I really like Portal...
I read Big Time Arms and got excited... but it's disappointing. The arms are bigger and harder to dodge, but they don't have the same damage boost as they do in part crash:( That was half the fun.
@PhilKenSebben I never heard of this game, but I really enjoyed Ziggurat which looks like the same type of game (Hexen-like Rogue-like?) I'm not a fan of the name, but maybe I'll give this a shot.
@thesilverbrick I can''t say for sure, but a Google translate posted of this https://topics.nintendo.co.jp/c/article/67b3f436-e451-11e7-8cda-063b7ac45a6d.html says, "As a big update, this time will be the last update. Of course, I will continue to adjust the game balance in the future, so I hope you will continue to enjoy "ARMS"
I highly recommend checking this out... on mobile (1, 2, and the sequel My Brother Ate My Pudding). Not only is it free there, but retains the proper title, "Hidden My Game by Mom!"
Surprised by all the hate. I thought this game was great. You might want to grab the game on iOS/Android where the game is much cheaper, but this is worth playing (and not just watching a playthrough so you can make your own choices).
@StuTwo Fair enough. My bigger issue originally was the need to get B- to play League play. Which in of itself is fine, but again that was the only way to play with friends. Because I'm terrible getting B- took me awhile...
As someone who actually has played the game, I don't see these as huge issues. Not ideal, but whatever. I partly understand not having Salmon run all the time to help ensure when you do play you find teammates. And I like the map rotation and mode. Helps keep it from being the same maps/modes being most popular.
The game has FAR bigger issues. Like how it fights you from playing with friends...
I'm not sure how they differ from their iOS versions, but I loved Severed on iOS. Whereas I thought forma.8 on iOS was just ok. But both are worth playing.

As a Wisconsinite, I fully support this trend.

Re: Poll: Is The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Good Enough Value Yet?
Still not worth it.
But ask again after Goldeneye is added.

Wuppo is great! I adore that game.
Re: Round Up: Everything Revealed During The Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight
Good idea, good presentation. And a couple games that piqued my interest...
My only suggestion is it was a bit long:) 30min is a lot! I’d have preferred two 15minute videos released separate. But I’m weird.

I so want that journal... but yeah. This is a game I 100% want digital since it's a game I'll want to jump into every day without changing cards.

Re: Feature: 13 Hidden Gems You Might Have Missed On The Switch eShop
Good list, but the continued lack of any mention of Baba Is You anywhere on this site boggles my mind.

Baba is You

Re: Reggie: Don't Expect Nintendo Switch Online To "Mirror" The Competition
I don't give a poo about the NES games (or SNES). Give me a competent online system instead please. Thanks.

Yay! Time to play some more Arms! Not a big fan of either of these two, but when Mechanica comes up...

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer
Back up my 400+ hour Splatoon 2 progress and I’ll stop.
Otherwise this is a sup par service I’m paying $20 for the privilege of playing Splatoon. As I couldn’t care less about NES games.

While they are different badges, I fought with Mummy previously but not Max Brass. So Max it is!

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Finally Revealed: Cloud Saves, NES Games And Pricing Confirmed
Pretty weak, but it’s also pretty cheap. So, eh. Whatever.
Re: Video: Here Are 10 New Switch Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In May

Re: Nintendo Scores Big In The 2017 EDGE Magazine Awards
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Well, popularity plays a large part in that poll whereas Edge is saying Arms is one of the best games despite its popularity.
I'd personally have Splatoon 2 and Nier Automata in my top 5, but Arms is a ton of fun when you give the game a chance.
Re: Feature: Memorable Games of 2017 - Thumper
Great game to pop in when you don't want to think. Seriously. That's meant as a compliment. The game puts me in a meditative trance...
Re: ARMS Version 5.0 Is The Last Content Update The Game Will Recieve
I don't regret buying Arms, but I don't blame people who passed. The game even now still needs more. More of pretty much everything.
