@GuruOfGreatness No catch, the BR mode has always been free. Skins cost money, but in my 150 hours ish play I've never bought one, there's no pay to win stuff in the game.

@okeribok It's not a mobile port. It's a PC/Console game that has a mobile port.

Since it is free i may give it a go.

@okeribok you only buy skins, and as pointed out already, it's a PC game that was ported. Not a mobile one ported to everything else.

Curious about cross play on this if it will be PC & Xbox only

@XenoShaun from the video it seems it contains all the other modes best check the description on the eshop when it becomes available but I’m pretty sure you would have to pay for certain things I have it on PS4 and only play battle Royale and I haven’t spent a penny

@XenoShaun It seems to be Battle Royale only sadly. Had hoped they would release the paid PVE version as well, as I like that one a lot better!

@Jeronan @Gs69 Aw that sucks if it is just Battle Royale. I'm not too interested but willing to give it a try. The original Fortnite mode looked far better so is certainly a shame if it is indeed the case to be missing (They should really call it with the Battle Royale monika then too).

The game will be rolling out to all regions via the Nintendo eShop today. North America is live now, and the game will be available worldwide at 5:00pm ET/ 9:00pm UTC.

Way to screw over EU players as usual. So when it's bed time in EU they going to release the game, but in the US they release it now, when everyone is at school or work.

Yeah I'm in the UK and can't download it either, I really hope pve is on it. I read somewhere the file size is something like 1.2 gigabyte so I doubt it

Hirez thought that Fortnite would be while away still and that they could cash in on being first Battle royale game on Switch.

Today they got smacked in the face.

@Paddle1 The Switch version is clearly the mobile version though now that people have it in their hands. It even has the lower quality, different mobile version sound effects and clearly has the "no detail" textures of the phone version.

So 11pm BST. Not a problem for me as I have a week off, but why does USA get it now and not the rest of the world. Haven't really looked much as I've played it to death, but is it only 30fps or 60fps like the other consoles?

Literally don't even bother downloading this if you've played on PS4. Your account will be system locked to the PS4 and you will have to make an entirely new account.

"This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch. Neither the Fortnite website nor Epic Games Customer Service are able to change this. To play Fortnite on Switch, please create a new account".

@XenoShaun Yeah sure, it is a different game, maybe more comparable to overwatch, but in the core, they were to free to play shooter, and while Fortnite is free everywhere, Paladin cost you money but only for the switch version, insane!

I like it! It's kinda fun, had no idea what I was doing, kept jumping instead of shooting and all sorts of wacky nonsense but managed to get a victory royale on my first try.

So, is it released at 10pm uk/irl time tonight or not?

Just Sony playing a-holes now the PS4 is the top selling platform this generation and trying to lock people into their platform.

I've downloaded Fortnite and plan to give it a go (now I've finally managed to find a display name that wasn't taken) but I've had experiences with online games in the past so I hope this one in newbie friendly.

Just gave it a try, don’t see the hype. Spent the entire time having no idea what’s going on (a tutorial would be nice) before someone I couldn’t see killed me. Guess it’s not my style of game. Shame since it was free...

Played a little of this today. It’s free so really no reason to pass on it. Did a few 50v50, solo and group battles. Never played any battle royale style games before but I was a little disappointed. You do an awful lot of nothing lost of the time. Just kind of wondering around by yourself looking for the action. Then if you die (which I did a lot) it’s your only life so your stuck as a spectator or you have to start all over again & waste another 10 minutes trying to find the action in the new game. I’m going to keep playing to see if it grows on me but my first impression is “why does everyone like this so much?”

For those wondering @MrJuancho is wrong. Not only is there almost no similarity between Paladins and Fortnite, other than both have guns, but the Paladins Founders pack to unlock all characters costs money on all platforms The only difference on switch is that it -also- grants early access.

Its free but this game make 200-300million a month on people buying skins.
I hope the success off fortnite does not stop developers making single player games.

@MrJuancho Paladins is a slightly different genre. Fortnite is standard death match, Paladins is objective-based, which a lot of people prefer.

@MrJuancho This is definitely going to kill that Paladins game before it even releases. I mean who wants to pay for a cheap imitation of something they can get for free?
