Re: Review: Baldo: The Guardian Owls - Exquisite Ghibli-Esque Art Can't Hide Tortuous Gameplay

I agree with most that the review says, yet I like the game. I can't really explain it, I enjoy playing it. It gets frustrating as hell, but nevertheless.

A simple fix would be to start you off with 5 hearts from the beginning and have a couple items that would replenish hearts. It does have a learning curve for getting thru and, yes: sometimes you die unfairly. I've had to use the internet a couple of times because the way forward is often just bloody impossible to figure out til you've done it.

I don't regret buying Baldo and recognise that it's not for everyone. It could be so much better but, as I said, I like it.

I'm afraid we now live in a world where everything is considered news. I have a deep seated antipathy toward reality TV shows, but they fit with the notion that everything in one's life is newsworthy. When people get massive amounts of hits showing themselves eating a hamburger something is screwy. But, that's just mho.

Re: Soapbox: Spin-Offs Can Be A Way In Rather Than A Sell-Out

I'm not sure of the point of this article. I'm a veteran gamer and I've never known anyone who automatically thought spin offs were lazy or any other of the negatives used. Games are, to different people, good and worth the time or not.

I'm not into Pokemon so I can't speak to them, but Dragon Quest Buiders, especially 2, are great. The only similarity to Minecraft is the use of squares in the terraforming.

It feels like the author got an assignment and just had to write a certain number of words to fill it.

@HamatoYoshi said: "Basically if anything offends anyone in this day and age it has to go. It’s a sad state of affairs that the world we live in is turning into a generation of snowflakes who pretend to be offended by the slightest thing."

Ah, but it becomes like Ouroborus ie people become offended by people taking offence. Are they snowflakes as well? Are they pretending offence? Is this a slight thing?

I find the concept interesting.

Re: Feature: Remembering Robin Williams On What Would Have Been His 70th Birthday

Robin Williams was misdiagnosed with Parkinsons and medicated for that. The meds are very harmful when given thru error. What he really had was Lewy Body Dementia. It affected his mind, his memory and his body movements. His wife has said that he was in terrible physical pain.

As in the movie Beginnings he was probably aware of what he was losing.

I won't judge the decision he made to end his life. With all the joy he gave the world he deserved peace, however he found it.

i wasn't playing emulated, so i couldn't use save states. and it turns out that when you load from an old save it remembers the path you took before, and silently pushes it to the map the next time the memory resets; sleeping, dying, blood moons (?), cutscenes (??)"

There is no way to know if this is an issue from the tweet. I asked a sincere question. The person uses the personal pronoun "I".

You seem to be the one putting restrictions on them.
