Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town has now shipped more than one million copies worldwide, Marvelous has announced.
The impressive figure includes confirmed shipments of physical copies to retailers and digital purchases from the Switch eShop, as well as sales on Steam, where the game launched just last month. It had already been confirmed that the title had hit 700,000 sales back in March, just days after it was released on Nintendo's platform.
We had mixed feelings when playing this one for review, saying that "while not by any means the best Story of Seasons game on the market, Pioneers of Olive Town is promising and disappointing in equal measure." You can read our full thoughts here if you're thinking about picking the game up.
Are you one of the many fans who've bought a copy of the game? How have you found it? We're all ears down below.

I still think it’s a pretty hot pile of garbage, to say the least.
I am honestly interested in the game after all the updates, but I don't want to commit with Rune Factory 5 coming out
As long as this does better than the newer Harvest Moon games, I'm okay with it.
Nah I'm more interested in the remake, but backlog is too big.
Not much incentive for them to give us anything better than the same lame effort next time.
@Burning_Spear
That's what worries me. Instead of remembering the sh*tstorm at release they will remember the numbers. I don't have much hope for future games returning to better quality.
i'm loving it but i need longest days
@k8sMum that is what people obsessed with sales forget. They get caught up in franchise and console wars, using sales figures as ammunition. However, all these sales figures show companies is the masses will buy anything, so they have no need to improve.

With this franchise I think it's more a case of people trusting Marvelous to treat the game with respect and care. They didn't, and have squandered years of trust. That will be difficult to get back.
@k8sMum Exactly what k8sMum said above. They dumped a half-baked, poor interpretation of the game on us, spruced it up with a plushie and sold a ton of pre-orders. The pre-order money is what they'll remember, and in their mind, they made all-good by patching the game afterward. I do not get the sense Marvelous cares about this franchise one bit beyond its ability to generate revenue, hence outsourcing it to a developer of dubious distinction and with no understanding of the franchise.
PS4 release in the future with fixed and updated + DLC in disc, please.
Good for Marvelous! I’m still enjoying my time in Olive Town.
During the free game trial the repetitive gameplay can suck you in but now a few days after I really can't remember much. I played five hours of it and can't remember a single character's name. I don't think that is good for this type of game.
Incredibly disappointing game. They really dropped the ball on this one, such a massive step back for the franchise.
I wonder how many of them are like me and absolutely super disappointed with the game? It's absolute crap and I find myself going back to FOMT and Stardew Valley instead.
Made it to year 3. Maxed out my skills. I don’t necessarily regret it, but I don’t think I’m going to go back and play it again. I also don’t think I’ll be pre-ordering the next SoS game, and won’t be buying until I get a chance to see what it’s like. I’ve been playing HM/SoS since the GameCube, and it’ll be the first time it years that’s happened. ...It’s a strange and kind of sad feeling.
Natsume continues to build on the same formula each time. More crops, more mutations to find, more ways to find them. It’s progress, if incredibly slow. You always have an idea of what you’re in for going in. And they continue to put out adjustment patches based on fan feedback.
I guess I just expect... better from Marvelous than Natsume? At least Natsume are making their games in-house as far as I’m aware. And contracting out doesn’t have to be a bad thing, but this particular choice seems questionable at best considering the company Marvelous chose was previously known for producing licensed One Piece and Assassination Classroom games and seems to have been rushed at that.
Maybe I’m still upset at feeling like I paid to beta test this game when I’ve never really felt like that with one of Marvelous’ games in the past. I don’t know. ._.
I played it for about 20 minutes during the free trial and felt I wasted 20 minutes. Horrible game.
