Let's set the scene. You're happily playing away on your Switch, plucking up the courage to take on Ganon in Zelda or grabbing your latest Power Moon in Mario Odyssey, when you get called upon by your parents, your siblings, or your always-nagging boss. "Just one more minute!" you shout, frustrated that they'd be so careless as to disrupt your valuable game time. We've all been there, right?
Well, for Brendan Fraser, the world-famous actor best known for his roles in films like The Mummy and George of the Jungle, this moment just so happened to fall during a fan meet and greet. A fan meet and greet which has now been posted – in full – online, creating a brand new meme and a fantastic scene that'll be watched over and over again all in one go.
You can see it all happen in the following clip shared by YouTube user Scott Lawrence – Scott explains that the meet was arranged through GalaxyCon, where fans can pay for one-on-one chats with stars. At first, the actor doesn't seem to be aware that the meeting has started, and even after a gentle nudge, gestures that he should get a little more game time before jumping into the call. Take a look:
Was he really that engrossed in a game that he didn't even notice the fan was there, or was it just a comedic bit to get the conversation started? If he was that invested, which game was he playing?
Perhaps we'll never know, but what we do know is that he's stuck a 'Fraser' label on the back of his console so that everyone knows that it's his, just like your mum might do with your best school jumper. It's all quite adorable, really.

Hoping the "Brendan-aissance" hits big soon, dude has some big projects coming up the next couple of years. He's a great, fun actor.
Free advertisement for Nintendo Switch is how I see this... lol
I heard No Sudden Move was apparently really good so I'll have to check that out since I usually love anything Steven Soderbergh does
It's nice to see Fraser's making a proper return to acting as of late
I've always found Brendan Fraser likeable. Not sure how the man is in real life, but based on Monkeybone, The Mummy, Airheads, and that one voice over he did in The Simpsons ("this just in - Powersauce bars are awesome") he seems like a cool dude.
I absolutely love Brendan Fraser. What a hugely likeable guy, his movies were a big part of my childhood. Horrible what happened to him, to be blacklisted due to speaking out about abuse. It’s just nice to see him again.
Fraser seems like a cool guy and his movies are a good time.
I met him once at a convention with my girlfriend. We had been queuing for quite a while, but he was due to go home for the day so the convention organisers said we couldn't see him, but then he actually waved us over and three of us joked about Looney Tunes Back in Action together. Absolutely surreal, lovely guy.
I completely understand Brendan
I didn’t even recognize the actor, so at first I was wondering who this random fella is haha!!
I'm glad that the internet has risen as a whole to love Brendan Fraser again. We treated him like absolute garbage a few years ago.
It's been fascinating to watch the sudden reappearance of Brendan Fraser. I always liked his work. I'm any case, he has great taste in gaming, apparently.
He was great in those first two Mummy movies.
What was he playing?
I recently watched Doom Patrol and realized how much I friggin’ love this guy. This just put it over the top.
This was... awkward xD
I don’t really think he’s actually into the Switch tbh, I think this was just a comedic stance, even though the seal on the bottom has his name on it, which to me, sorta doesn’t look real, guess we have to bug him on Twitter or has someone already done that
Oops! Yeah, we've all definitely had that moment m
I think how awkward the conversation was should be the take away from this.
@KingBowser Because celebrities can't like video games?
@The_BAAD_Man yeah he is human and those bashing him for trying is the worst. No wonder Kings around the word are overthrown and made into peasants.
"was it just a comedic bit to get the conversation started?"
Felt like it was just the way they were talking didn't seem normal
@CactusMan Oh my god LOL, Was it awkward when you got there? 🤔
(Right, I can ask Brendan Fraser ANYTHING I've ever wanted. Okay, okay, think about this...)
"What's your favourite pizza topping?"
(Nailed it)
@PessitheMystic I haven't watched the video but my partner told me about it, and I couldn't get my head around being set up to talk to Brendan about what he's playing, the systems he likes, what games he likes, and so on, and just going "so pizza toppings?"
Squeeze the juice!
He seems like a decent man. He went through a messy divorce and the world as a whole was pretty awful to him for a while. I’m glad he is getting work again and seems to be at peace with himself.
Hey I'm Brendan Fraser, I was in the mummy.
Glad to see my boy playing that young Switch though. Can never have too much fun!
“Perhaps we'll never know, but what we do know is that he's stuck a 'Fraser' label on the back of his console so that everyone knows that it's his, just like your MUM might do with your best school jumper.”
Heh, I see what you did there.
Like these comments here I’m a Brendan fan, he got that like ability and fun factor that’s cool xx
Always came off as a good fellow. Apparently he likes to ride horses and shoot his bow on his ranch. So I’m gonna guess he was playing Zelda 😂
Couldn’t watch the whole video though. It’s just…😬
@PizzaCat such a gem
If anyone doubts he has actual acting skills, I recommend watching Gods and Monsters. Brendan Fraser sharing almost every scene with Ian McKellan and holding his own in an actual drama. It's a pretty awesome movie.
Loved him in George of the jungle and the first two mummy movies but to me he'll always be Link the frozen caveman from Encino man!
@The_BAAD_Man Sometimes I don’t know who’s into video games besides us. Until they have said it publicly, I’m really not informed of any other celebrities that are into video games. Sure, Brie Larson is, there are others, but there doesn’t seem to be a list somewhere on the internet
@Bret Who is "we?" I don't care about this guy one way or the other.
@DrJoson He comes off as a nice guy on camera, nice to know he's a nice guy IRL too. He's had a rough go of it over the last few years, I hope it gets better for him.
Jeez, he got fat.
He seems like a pretty cool guy. Really love some of his films like Monkey one and Blast from the Past. Can't wait for season 3 of Doom Patrol too. Funny that you can instantly tell who is under 18 here because they don't know who Fraser is lol.
@AcridSkull
He did most of his own stunts and has had a number of operations and medical problems. He's also suffered from severe depression due to a divorce and being blacklisted for speaking out about the sexual abuse he endured.
The 'net might want to cut him some slack.
Ah, how I would have loved to have spoken with him during this meet-and-greet. I would have told him how much I love the "George of the Jungle" movie, and how I wish he would star in a third as an older George passing the torch of King and Queen of the Jungle to his son, George, Jr. and his son's girlfriend, Magnolia.
I thought he was great in Journey to the Center of the Earth. (I'm a Jules Verne fan. LOL.)
And Ink heart!
@CactusMan Oh my god.
This is actually sad...
@Zeldafan79 omg Encino Man! First movie of his I saw growing up when it came out in theaters and I’ve followed his comedies like Dudley Do Right and dramas like Crash and now Doom Patrol. I love the guy and feel so sad about what he had to go through before, and am glad he’s apparently on the up and up.
@AcridSkull yeah, well depression will do that to you, and the kind he has comes from having some jerk destroy his career for speaking up about his attempt at sexual assault on Brendan, then a messy divorce and a lack of support. Go easy on him, dude.
It looks like he staged it a bit as an ice breaker or something, but it doesn't matter. He is a cool guy, I am sure.
Loved him from The Mummy. Absolute chad of a man.
@Severian @k8sMum
I am going easy on him.
@AcridSkull Depression tends to do that to people. Brendan went through a lot due to lies told by his ex, she is a horrible woman. No person (man or woman) should be trapped in an abusive, loveless marriage. Brendan was mocked by coming out about the abuse and because his wife had better connections he was blacklisted for years until recently.
I'm sure feeling like your former love hated you, left you and then ruined your career would do quite the mental number. So glad he appears to be doing better.
For those who need a news citation about Brendan’s struggles and so that dumping on him for being plump stops:
https://people.com/movies/brendan-fraser-philip-berk-sexual-assualt-allegations/
Also, from a goalcast summary:
“It wasn’t just the assault that knocked his career off its course. As a rising action star, his body was put through the wringer in the name of stunts, physique requirements, and just regular male beauty standards. Brendan stated, “By the time I did the third Mummy picture in China,” which was 2008, “I was put together with tape and ice.”
The overwhelming demands of being a Hollywood hero triggered a number of health issues for Brendan. He had to get two laminectomies, a knee replacement, several procedures for his back, surgery for his spinal pads, and even had to get his vocal cord replaced at one point.
If that wasn’t enough, he and his wife of fourteen years, Afton Smith, divorced in 2007. His mother passed away from cancer in late 2016. He came upon many financial difficulties while on his forced sabbatical from Hollywood.
It’s no surprise that the actor began spiraling in all directions. Yet, he maintains that it all leads back to that fateful night in Los Angeles, where his entire world was left undone by the disgusting actions of an executive.
Brendan’s struggles have more profound implications than his own suffering. As a young man preparing to dominate the screens, he thought he had complete control over his expanding career, that nothing could touch him or throw him off his purpose. But sexual assault and harassment have a way of derailing momentum and leaving its survivors in a pool of shame, guilt, and continually recurring agony.
A male actor speaking out about how his career was shattered by sexual assault is nothing short of remarkable. He is a big, broad man who is probably capable of fending off any aggressors on his own. Yet, the assault debilitated him to his core, and he felt just as victimized as other female survivors of sexual and domestic assault. The courage he has displayed in speaking about his afflict will ratify him as one of Hollywood’s bravest, most unconventional men.“
As a huge pizza fan, the correct questions were asked.
he was just acting
Brendan has been through a lot with his career. And he's been getting some good working gigs lately.
Have nothing to add except that I wish him a wonderful 2nd wind with his career.
@k8sMum My all time favorite line of his is "Did you see those Mummy movies?
I'm in them more than Brendan Fraser is.
No, he couldn't stand that.
One day he decides that, "No!
The Bren-master does all his own stunts!" "
@sethharris1191 Yes, because by "we" I definitely meant every single person on the entire internet. 🙄
One of absolute favorite actors ever it's great to see him healthy, happy and gaming God bless him. I'm absolutely greatful to see so many people showering him in love and adoration can't wait to see him grace my TV screen again!
@KingBowser I don't know of many either, but I can assure you it's a perfectly normal thing other humans do in their free-time, not just "us"
