Re: Soapbox: Kirby Returns To Remind Us That Escapism Isn't A Dirty Word

Yesterday was my birthday. I'd picked up RF5 as a present to myself. It's a much better game than some are saying and I'm enjoying it.

Then my best friend of about 33 years called and, tho she's not a gamer, told me to buy Kirby with $ she was sending in my card. I'm very grateful as it's rare that a game makes me feel so happy! Kirby is a gem and I find myself smiling like an idiot whilst playing it.

My playing or not playing a game will not impact the world's unrelenting crises in any way. I'll take joy wherever I can find it. A bit of escapism is a good thing and allows us a chance to refuel emotional stamina..

Re: Round Up: The Rune Factory 5 Reviews Are In

I picked it up physical on release, after being so disappointed in PoOT.

I'm really enjoying it. Could some things be better? Oh, yes. Graphics wise it looks unfinished. There are some stutters. Neither reach game breaking levels, imho. Do turn off the auto camera which is nausea inducing.

The characters are varied and interesting. Though why Terry isn't court-able is a mystery and a crime, heheh. Perhaps Rune Factory fans set our bars too low. But it's not the mess it was when released in Japan. After the decade wait from RF4 it should be better. And for the gods' sake: why can't furniture be placed against a wall? That is maddening.

In the end, however, if I'm enjoying a game that's enough for me.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

All I know is I've played it for hours today on a 50" tv and have had a ball. The bright primary colors are nice after the pastel, washed out effect of BotW. I'm not convinced a pokemon game should have more realistic graphics.

The art style is pure Pokemon. The only thing that is a bit frightening are the main characters eyes. I mean YIKES!

Game play is smooth and I've not encountered any lag.

Tl:dr...if realistic graphics make or break a game for you then this probably isn't the game for you. But, imho, you're gonna miss out on a lot of fun.

I loved the GC so much. Our Cait was often in hospital for weeks at a time. We'd pack up the Cube and take it with us. It made the slow passage of time much easier to tolerate.

Twilight Princess, PM:TTYD, Windwaker, Mario Sunshine...all provided many hours of distraction to a kid sick from chemo and her mum.

Re: PSA: If You Restarted Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island, You'll Have To Wait A Year To Access Some Things

@Tourtus
I restarted my game the end of September. The game had ceased to be fun for me. Restarting made it fun again. Luckily I had a 4 star island before the dlc hit so Brewster etc were immediately available.

I had a ton of hours in on my first island and loved it. But it wasn't a shrine.

Like many things in life the journey is the key, not the destination.

All the things you stated would,, indeed, be great. I too wish we could have at least 15 villagers and the observatory.

It was around midnite when I got it installed so I only played enough to get Isabelle's info. Went back to my house and there was a knock at the door: Phil popped in for a visit! It was cool. Then I, irl, went to bed. My day is open and gonna be consumed by AC.

Enjoy, everyone!
