@Takoda I've seen some randomizers of Sky recently and... Yeah, the story was good (and funnier when Groudon is like a Clampearl or something) but it does love flashbacks a lot. Like... A LOT.
And honestly, the only PMD game were the partner mattered in the story was Super Mystery Dungeon. The partner in Sky is less dull than the first PMD to be fair.

My biggest dissapointment about BDSP is the fact that they stayed so close to the originals. Older Pokemon games had much more content but are way slower than newer ones in so many aspects. I went from Legends Arceus to BDSP and it shows.

@Takoda Honeslty, I'm sorry to say, but a big part of it is nostalgia. It happened to me with Pokemon Diamond. I thought it was my favorite Pokemon game growing up and replaying was just... so slow.

Hoping we get something PMD sooner or later.

@RupeeClock Fair. But this is on the Pokemon website. I doubt they would announce one of their original games on there. I mean... I guess we could also get a new spin off done by Chunsoft too.

That's definetly interesting. I thought that it could be NSO roms for the original PMD on GBA but the copyright is for this year. So I think it could be a mistake, a remake of PMD Explorers of Sky or a new PMD game.
Also, another thing, Nintendo seems to be DMCA different stuff about PMD recently. So... Again, not impossible that we could get something PMD this year.

Honestly, the only thing that I consider bad is that I expected a bigger blowout for Zelda. Maybe I could nitpick more about x and y announcement but I thought it was great. The return of Level5 is appreciated too.

Although I'm sure that, despite not having few of them in this Direct, people are going to complain about "too many JRPGs". It almost looks like they write those comments before the Direct even airs.

Honestly, I believe them... FOR NOW. They are probably waiting for the next console to consider a general price increase. To me it doesn't affect me much since ToTK costs the same in Europe than BoTW.

Weird how they randomly added a character in the middle of the DLC waves for no reason at all and without even a hint of that happening again. Like... Does someone inside of Nintendo just really like Birdo and wanted her to be playable on MK or bust?

@TYRANACLES 1 point for having an acual good opinion and another for remembering that 3DS game existence. Shame the third Rolling Western game was released when it was... it had no chance.

Zelda BoTW2 will be the big game of the year. But I also believe we will have a big game on the holidays (hence the reason why they delay it to may and not the holidays). My bets is a Mario game but I doubt it would be a 3D one. So Zelda in may and a Mario on the holidays. And that this year will be the last "big" Switch year (saying that a year with Zelda and Mario is slow sounds weird to me).

Aside from that, B games and some remasters/remakes/ports. Which is fine, honestly. I'm hoping for another Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and some out of field surprises (like when we got a Famicom Detective Club remake of all things).

About Metroid Prime? I think it has a chance to show up this year but I'm not going to say anything. That game has a 60% chance of becoming vaporware.

@sikthvash To be fair, Pikmin 4 is supposed to come out this year. I know it doesn't seem like it, but we had a trailer in the last Direct.

@sixrings The first comment I answered here was saying Nintendo was taking the P for making "a lot of FE games".
Also, Nintendo literally made a remake of Famicom Detective Club recently. And games like Xenoblade ""only"" sell like 2 million usually but they still make sequels. They funded another Bayo sequel and they have a Bayo spin off in like 2 months?
YOUR favorite Nintendo small franchises don't getting games doesn't mean other small Nintendo franchises that actually get games don't count.

It was probably bought on eBay and then "certified" to artificially increase the price like almost everything in the exclusive collector market.

It's not my biggest frustation with videogames I had (that probably goes to like Celeste chapter 9 or something) but since it's more recent in my case.

Nintendo has been really slow with their mobile phone games recently. To the point that it seems they only did it initially to shut up investors. And it's weird because they found success on the platform too. Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and Fire Emblem are doing just fine. But their last mobile phone game was Pikmin and that game felt more like an experiment than anything else.

I actually preordered because there was a good price on Amazon at launch day (like 46 euros) and I had so many issues finding Three Houses physical at a reasonable price years after the fact that I decided to buy it now.
Now I own four Fire Emblem games (Awakening, Shadows of Valentia, Three Houses and Engage) but I still have to play any of them. My backlog is a ever growing monster at this point.

@sixrings No problem. Your comment wasn't the worse I've read anyway. I'm just tired of going into a post of a RPG game and one of the first post being how these games get "too many enties" and don't deserve the attention they get because x and y series is "more important".

@sixrings I know GameCube/GBA era was long ago. I even mention how it would be nice for Nintendo to give it another shot. I just wanted to remind people that this extended hiatus for FZero is for a reason.

Also, If there is something that I've learned after years being a Nintendo fan is that there will ALWAYS be people that scream "too anime" or "zzzz" when a Direct announces an RPG. No matter how many games Nintendo releases. And I doubt making another F-Zero would change that.

Think about it this way: We got multiple games that certain parts of the community screamed for years (like Metroid Dread or now Pikmin 4) and there is still the same reaction towards RPGs. Because there is always another small Nintendo IP that needs a game "instead of Fire Emblem"... because apperantly that's how it works. It has to be FZero or Fire Emblem, not both.
And before you say "well, I'm not saying that. It's just that those series get games and not those other ones. That's all" then why I always see the same comments in posts about Fire Emblem or Xenoblade instead of like... Splatoon 3, for example? It gets tiring.

@sixrings You know? Looking back, Nintendo made a big push for F-Zero during the GameCube/GBA era with multiple games and even an anime... and it failed spectacularly. I don't blame them for taking "some" time off that to be honest.
With Wario Land, the same thing happened. They made a new one during the high of 2D platformers during the Wii/DS era (when NSMB sold like 30+ million units) and it also sold poorly.

Don't get me wrong, it is a shame and I wish Nintendo would try again. But let's not say that they never tried or they don't have their reasons to not release more games of those series. Meybe some day they'll make one, Pikmin 4 took like 10 years just to be officially revealed.

Although... Here we go. The "too many RPGs" argument again. I'm going to be mean but I'm SO TIRED of this argument. Nintendo reveals 1 RPG in their Directs and people already lose their minds.
Yeah, they publish only RPGs if you ignore every game they publish that is not an RPG. Bayonetta 3 was released last year, same with a new Kirby game and Splatoon 3 and smaller multiplayer games. Yes, those games count.
Although I guess those don't count because they are not Fzero, star fox, pilot wings, donkey Kong, punch out or excitebike. See? This is my point.

@sixrings First of all, before you say anything, yes, you're "allowed" to not like Fire Emblem, or Xenoblade, or Pikmin... What I'm complaining about is all the negativity some people bring when Nintendo decides to show those IPs and make games about them.

Also, I'm not getting your point, I never said that Nintendo should just make Mario and Zelda. In fact, if you look at a joke I made in this comment section, I'm claiming the opposite. Xenoblade, Pikmin and even FE are not huge IPs either. They just have more active dev tems because circumstances (and in the case of Pikmin, they don't even have that). I'm complaining about people whining about their favorite B tier franchises not getting the spotlight while complaining about other small ones that do right now.

Nintendo have a lot of IPs and they also use some of the B tier ones still, which is good. But they have so many B IPs that they can't just make a new game of every single one each year. I like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and we didn't get a new game since 2016 (remake in 2020), I'm not sh*** on FE because of that.

@sixrings Fun fact, all of the games you mentioned (except Donkey Kong DX port on Switch) sold less than Fire Emblem Three Houses.

It seems there is a trend recently of certain Nintendo fans being angry Nintendo doesn't support their B tier series instead of another B tier one they have and try to justify it by any means necessary.

Anyway, it'd probably be better than Star Allies was and I've never bought the Wii version so I'll buy it at some point.

I'm finishing the post game of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. I like this game but since it came out march 2020 it was obviously overshadowed by another bigger game.
Aside from that I'll probably play a bit of Splatoon 3 due to Splatfest.

I saw this game reccomended to me on YouTube and it looked quite interesting. Looking forward to it.

I knew something was up when the game went from main showing in a Nindie Direct to not being shown for a long time to being shadow dropped with almost no fan fare. The whole reason why I waited. A shame really.

@Kayvoo What are you saying? What is your point here? My point is that saying that "Iwata's Nintendo" wouldn't do this is weird seeing how "that Nintendo" also did their weird stuff. Including the update model which also started with Iwata (Splatoon was developed with Iwata in charge).

@johnvboy The thing is, I never mentioned that all the people that bought the games have issues because I can't read minds. What I mentioned is that those issues exist and they shouldn't and that people buying it continue validating the practises that led to games like this. I still can't see how pointing that out is making the issues "far worse than they actually are".

The game has constant frame pacing issues, low quality textures on the overworld, the classic Pokemon animation issues we had since X&Y and a bunch of small glitches that at best are hilarious and at worse annoying. So basically, the game runs worse and looks worse than other Nintendo Switch games (including other Pokemon games on the Switch). All of this are facts.

Now, you can still enjoy the game despite of all these issues, but those exists all the same and deserve to be critized. Doing that does not make the issues "worse than they actually are".

@johnvboy For someone who says that is not bothered by people complaining you sure seem commited to point out how not big of a deal the issues are over and over again. And even find excuses or claim that these issues are also present on all Switch games (they aren't).

Besides, you are not in the mind of millions of players and these issues being to this level is actually kinda new for Pokemon too. Before the games were becoming more and more casual and had some issues but even SWSH and Legends Arceus were stable games. Arceus launched this year and it actually looks and runs better than SV (despite also not being the best Switch game in the graphical aspect).

And, like I said, these issues exist in the game no matter how many people bought it. A game selling better doesn't make the issues dissapear.

Besides, again, the issues are there. Why should people avoid critism of obvious issues other Switch games don't face?

Honestly, I kinda get why some people were pushed away by XC2 character designs. Have to admit, it is the worst part of the game.
And saying it's just "people hating anime" is strawmanning hard. Xenoblade 3 is also anime style JRPG and is not as... questionable as XC2 with character designs. And that's also without counting some stuff about the story that is also questionable (Tora and Poppi anyone?).

It's a shame because, it is a great game in a lot of areas. But the character designs are so questionable that even undermine the story at some points.

But, again, it's a great game. Great story, great characters (in personality at least... for the most part), amazing music and world design, great world and sidequests. Even the DLC is really good and worth the money (and in some ways better than the main game).

You know that there are good media that is also diverse, right? Unless you are making the argument that having diverse characters in a piece of media makes it bad then those things are independent of each other.

@victordamazio I'm aware. I speak spanish... I still don't get your point. For one, the tweet is about english, which has neutral pronouns already. Besides, you're literally comparing colonialism to grammar. I hated language classes at school too but this seems to far.

Jokes aside. Real talk here: Ignore them. I personally hate all the examples of non gendered language in spanish. I think they don't fit at all. I just don't compared them to colonialism and let them be. I don't need to be angry about such little things in my day to day life.

Language changes over time based on use and if people truly don't like them then those would dissapear over time or at least only be used in certain groups. Which is fine and doesn't affect me or you at all.
