@Dreamcaster-X can some people please stop generalizing critism? Please... This is sad at this point. More than one comment here than have more than valid complaints.
@johnvboy a more powerful console would help in the sense that a poorly optimized game with the same graphics as SV would have better framerate in a mote powerful device.
Basically, It is a game optimization issue, therefore GameFreak optimizing their game would be a good solution.
Xenoblade 3 came out this year and, sure, it has it's own technial issues but it is much more stable than SV while also looking more impressive. I mean, BoTW is a launch game and it also runs (and looks) better.
@johnvboy To be fair, GameFreak seems barely used to do actual 3D games in general. Specially since going to HD with the Switch. SWSH wasn't a technical marvel either (that only had better framerate because it had a much more limited scope) and Arceus had it's own technical issues too.
And this has more to do with actual optimization than the Switch hardware. Xenoblade 3 released this year and doesn't have nearly as much technical issues as Pokemon, despite also having a big world to explore. It was also made in three years seeing the timeline.
@johnvboy I see three possibilities with the Twitter buyout:
1) The documentation from Twitter old management was accurate.
He knew the actual state of the site and then lied saying that he actually didn't.
2) The documentation from Twitter old management was innacurate.
In that case... why he didn't went to court? He would have data that showed Twitter old management lied to him.
3) The documentation from Twitter old management was accurate... but lacked a lot of details.
In this case it doesn't really show him in a good light. Since it shows he didn't do due diligence.
And again, there were conservatives in Twitter before. You don't have a point here at all. The only thing you have is assumptions.
The thing that tells me a lot is the fact that you are assuming the old Twitter management was biased because of it's political affiliations, which is fine but... you are ignoring Musk also has political affiliations. Very public ones too. Would be wrong to consider him biased too?
Finally, I cannot say who are those "leftists" that are "up in arms". I can only speak about my opinion. And my opinion is that one person having so much power to outright buy a social media site is worring. And him doing so much bull*** shows he doesn't have a plan either.
Hoping Twitter goes up in flames tho. It was bull*** for a long time before the buyout and now it has the potential to be even worse.
@KayFiOS for some reason some people forgot that Elon tried to avoid buying Twitter and was forced to because he signed it already (like the totally good buisness man that he is apperantly).
@johnvboy Noone forced him to buy twitter. And noone is forcing him to do the whole "free speach" facade either or to s*** on advertisers.
Noone forced him to close the deal before doing due diligence either. Or to make verifications on Twttter mean even less than what they meant.
And what is this whole "both sides being represented"? There were conservatives in Twitter before Musk.
@Rika_Yoshitake I want to remind people that the entire point of verifying an account was to have assurances that account is the real deal. And it was free too.
@johnvboy The writer didn't broke any rules here either and the comment hasn't been deleted by mods. So what was the point there? Just because someone can write a comment doesn't mean people shouldn't critize set comment if they feel it is wrong.
@johnvboy For starters, I never said I "liked" this articles. But I do find it necessary to report on the business side of the industry more than just "look at how many units this game sold", you know? Like it or not, there are people behind the games you play. Reporting on what happens behind the scenes should be normal. Why shouldn't be?
Besides, I personally find it much more fitting on this website that a lot of the "random" articles that seem to be done only to fit a quota of number of articles per week.
And, as you said, people should be free to comment whatever they want, right? That includes the writer of the article.
Also, the writer was 100% right when he said that. There are plenty of "videogame" articles on this website or others and this is important to report.
Oh and I'll mention this again. You also accused the writer of saying that comment was against the rules. To my knowledge, he never said that.
@Edu23XWiiU Yes. They should do an article about that.
@Oscarzxn to be fair, they say that for basically every Switch port at this point... I was surprised about how negative they were about the Persona 5 port. Wait until you actually see gameplay to decide if it bothers you or not.
I'm mainly worried about pop in. Since that is already questionable on PS5.
@strollin_stu @Zeldinion First of all, there were 4 farming games, not "5-6". And that's not even half of the games that were showcased and people scream like that was the only thing they showed.
But I guess I should have expected this comments.... Now every time a farm game appears in a Direct, people will s*** on it because of it existing. Just like "anime" and "RPG" games.
@strollin_stu And it seems you do that with RPGs already.
@Bunkerneath "Please only announce the game I'm interested in" I guess?
I still don't get why the last Direct got so much hate for some reason. It's always one type of games that are "overrepresented" for some people online when more than 2 appear in a Direct. Being "anime games", "RPGs" and I guess now farming games join the list.
@Not_Soos Huh. I guess you're right. The situation is quite better compared to the 2010s. Specially if you count remakes, since Crash and Spyro sold well (despite Activision's claims...).
I guess I should be more positive about the situation. I suppose since I saw cases like Crash 4 apperantly "underperforming", I thought 3D platformers were still quite niche but it's true that in the indie and AA scene is a completely different situation.
@kiwisoup The thing is... I don't know what kind of (added) MTX will have either. And don't forget about the game being technically in alpha (or beta?).
I see your point, but I just don't know how I feel paying for a game I know will go F2P next year anyways. Specially since I'll have to put up with the same MTX come next year, I would just have less grinding until then.
OH. Now it makes sense why they suddently want to use old popular IPs that sold well but they abandoned for mobile gatchas. Because they f*** up with mobile gatchas too.
I'm kinda optimistic for Sonic. At the very least it looks better than Forces. Same sentiment for Pokemon. Although I don't know if I'd pick them up this month since I have some old games that I want to buy instead so maybe I'll wait until the holidays.
Although I'm scared for the performance of those two games on Switch too...
Oh and I know that people joked on the last Nintendo Direct but Harvestella looks good too. Although I'll probably wait for a sale on that one.
I'm actually interest in this game. But I just can't bring myself to buy it when next year it's going to be F2P. Hoping I can access to some of the time gated content then at least.
To me, the main issues with going full digital is the price. A LOT of people still buy physical on consoles because of the price. I can get newly released physical games in EU for 10-20 euros less than MSRP. I get a lot of that is because deals with retailers... But let's be real here, who says companies would lower those launch prices if they only had digital media. Specially after some publishers decided to actually increase launch prices and in Europe those prices increased 20 euros.
@Perryg92 Honestly, I wished people reported more about patches. I have more than one game that I want to buy on Switch that had issues I have no idea if they've been fixed. Developers don't help much when they descrive patches as "general improvements" and leave it at that.
Like, how is the situation with Sonic Colors Ultimate on Switch? And the GTA Triology? A Hat in Time? I'm subscribed to that youtuber and I find that idea to revisit games after patches quite interesting.
@Not_Soos I remember watching a video about the history of Kao and I find it fascinating. His old games could also be kinda forgettable for some calling it "just a 3D platformer" but the devs clearly care about him. Besides, there aren't really a lot of 3D platformers nowadays so it's refreshing just for that honestly.
Also, I still believe people hated Yooka Laylee unfairly. And the 2D game that they made was quite good.
@Miu That's not because of the review tho. There are well reviewed games that don't have those links and badly reviewed games that do.
I mean, the same text you quoted is on the links of reviews like the Balan Wonderworld one.
Also, Those deals are done with RETAILERS, not with the publishers or developers. How do I know that? I checked out the link of that message you quoted.
@dalekman9999 This is probably the worse situation here. There is a point that VA need to be more appreciated. Like, union VA fees are arround the original claim (4k dolars in total for 3 sessions). And those are UNION voice acting, which usually pays higher. And, I get that for smaller games paying more than that could be unfeasable but, let's be real, it would be unfair to ignore that big companies also use similar salaries for VA.
But the thing is... this doesn't seem to be the best example to use at all. Even before this report came out, the fact that she went against the replacement VA for Bayonetta and made such unrageous claims about how much the Bayo IP was actually worth was already suspitious for me. But now? It turns out she maybe got quite a good deal and she just asked for more and got rejected. Which definetly changes the narrative a bit.
It's a shame too, now seeing all of the people trying to change the narrative by focusing on general VA pay due to this. I get why it was done but linking all of the dicusion about VA fees to her and the boycott of Bayo 3 was a bad idea.
@Brett I also kinda hate the whole "the truth is in the middle" argument. Mainly because it lloks like you a "both sideing" a situation instead of actually looking at it critically or you are doing damage control but don't want to say that you were wrong. Sure, the truth CAN be in the middle but sometimes a side is just wrong and people don't want to commit to it, so they change the subject or use this argument.
Like, if one person comes to you and says "the earth is round" and another says "the earth is flat", you are not intelligent by saying "well, the truth is in the middle" and then leave. You are just avoiding talking about it.
In this case, at most, you can say that it is a "he says, she says" situation. Since neither have definitive proof that this happened aside from their words.
Honestly? No. I have respect for anyone fighting for better working conditions, don't get me wrong. I'm myself in a similar situation, being a CS graduate jumping between jobs for better pay. So I can relate to her. But, TO ME, the video seemed almost petty. SPECIALLY when she decided to throw the new english Bayonetta voice actress under the bus. Both of them in the same union too by the looks of it, which makes things worse.
Besides, I don't know the standard union VA pay either so I would be boycotting something basing on assumtions by one person. I also don't know how many work hours were required for this job or other important details.
The last thing is... what about all the developers and creatives behind this game? Should I throw them under the bus because of her?
Oh and, maybe I thought Bayo was smaller than it actually is but... 450 milion is what the Bayo IP is worth? That seems way too much seeing it's sales to be honest.
To me it looks like Mario+Illumination style. Probably done by the animators due to being more comfortable animating him. It looks slightly off but I can live with it.
@WallyWest I hate this stupid mentality. I guess kids games are immune to critism because... kids stupid? Oh and every adult that makes those critism is wrong because... "the series isn't for them"? You know that kids media can and should have some quality standards, right? Having good games is not only an adult thing.
Also, If it isn't for them then why the constant nostalgia for games that are three times older than the "only" target audience?
A lot of polished mechanics of SWSH with an open world setting. It could be a good game. ...But I still want to see the designs of all the new Pokemon (specially since I'm not a fan of the majority of them that they've shown) and if the story is at least acceptable (unlike SWSH).
Could be worse, it's no og movie Sonic design. I guess I could get used to it. But I still don't like the whole "making a cartoon character more realistic" push. It can lead to uncanny valley. Hoping it's not the same here.
@nitrolink Because enough people buy it and demand more to continue making them and have their own market? I swear, what is with all the JRPG hate recently? It's not like they are doing anything wrong.
@StarPoint Outrage advertisment works. The ads were specifically designed to *** off a specific and very vocal audience and it did the job. That is the reason I knew this game existed. And it also has a name that already is slightly nostalgic, which definately helped.
@Mioaionios It's weird... It's not like Microsoft doesn't try. And it's not even the fact that Microsoft is not as popular in Japan since a lot of JRPGs sales come from the west.
Ok everyone. I have one question. Putting aside discussions about what is the point of NFTs. Someone tell me what Square Enix is going to do with NFTs.
Like, every press release they do about them doing NFTs just say that they'll do it and how good they are but not actual concrete plans.
Like, microtransactions in their F2P games are going to be NFTs now? How'd that change the game? Is that even in their plans? To my knowledge, the only thing they did with NFTs is to use it as a receipt with some Cloud merch so... is that what they plan to do? I just don't get it.
The game is good. I'm not going to deny that. But it's missing that new thing. Just like how Salmon Run was introduced in Splatoon 2. I think I'm going to wait a bit until more updates come in and try to reduce my backlog instead.
@michellelynn0976 "moving the goalposts"? What are you saying? You accused people that complained about the graphics of Pokemon to be "Junior Squad Digital Foundry" when Digital Foundry itself said the graphics were not good.
Just stop with the strawmans and just admit you just enjoy Pokemon for what it is. Again, you don't need to complain about how angry imaginary people are to say that you enjoyed a trailer. I did enjoyed this trailer and I'm one of those people that DID NOT like SWSH (and made it clear too).
@michellelynn0976 Hey... Did you know Digital Foundry thought SWSH was not impressive graphically? They didn't have high praise with Arceus either. Like, don't try to deny now and say those games were graphically impressive or something and everyone was just overreacting. Also, you can enjoy something without having to *** at the people that don't.
That being said, the trailer looks definetly interesting. Not without problems tho... The evil team looks like it would be pointless again and I'm not a fan of the design of the new Pokemon shown those far (to be fair to SWSH, I think the design of their Pokemon was quite good). But again, interested to see more.
@Not_Soos GameFreak are not one of their best devs. There is a reason why Pokemon games are quite behind in the technical aspect (and arguebly other aspects too).
Aside from that you are right tho. This article is just pointless tabloid-level drama.
@Marxally Honestly? I'm surprised Ubisoft is still there. Sure, EA has recently lost the FIFA name, which is like 80% of what they have. But Ubisoft has cancelled so many games, lost so many people and even their execs don't seem enthusiastic about continuing leading the company. But they are still there somehow.
Something that actually entices me. Every trailer until now just screams Splatoon 2+ to me. I want new modes, story details, a single player that feels different to the main story of the previous two games...

Re: Feature: With Sales Outpacing Pokémon, Why Is Splatoon So Popular In Japan?
@nitrolink Because enough people buy it and demand more to continue making them and have their own market? I swear, what is with all the JRPG hate recently? It's not like they are doing anything wrong.
Re: Nintendo Switch Sports Is The Best Selling Physical Game During August (EU)
@StarPoint Outrage advertisment works. The ads were specifically designed to *** off a specific and very vocal audience and it did the job. That is the reason I knew this game existed. And it also has a name that already is slightly nostalgic, which definately helped.
Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold Over 3 Million Units Physically And Digitally
@Mioaionios It's weird... It's not like Microsoft doesn't try. And it's not even the fact that Microsoft is not as popular in Japan since a lot of JRPGs sales come from the west.
Re: Square Enix Is Now Part Of A Blockchain
Ok everyone. I have one question. Putting aside discussions about what is the point of NFTs. Someone tell me what Square Enix is going to do with NFTs.
Like, every press release they do about them doing NFTs just say that they'll do it and how good they are but not actual concrete plans.
Like, microtransactions in their F2P games are going to be NFTs now? How'd that change the game? Is that even in their plans? To my knowledge, the only thing they did with NFTs is to use it as a receipt with some Cloud merch so... is that what they plan to do? I just don't get it.
Re: Review: Splatoon 3 - The Pinnacle Of The Series And Switch's Slickest Shooter
The game is good. I'm not going to deny that. But it's missing that new thing. Just like how Salmon Run was introduced in Splatoon 2. I think I'm going to wait a bit until more updates come in and try to reduce my backlog instead.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Introduces Us To Rival Team, Victory Road, And More
@michellelynn0976 "moving the goalposts"? What are you saying? You accused people that complained about the graphics of Pokemon to be "Junior Squad Digital Foundry" when Digital Foundry itself said the graphics were not good.
Just stop with the strawmans and just admit you just enjoy Pokemon for what it is. Again, you don't need to complain about how angry imaginary people are to say that you enjoyed a trailer. I did enjoyed this trailer and I'm one of those people that DID NOT like SWSH (and made it clear too).
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Introduces Us To Rival Team, Victory Road, And More
@Giowo That's actually quite interesting. I wonder if that's the case without limitations as a way to grind or something.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Introduces Us To Rival Team, Victory Road, And More
@michellelynn0976 Hey...
Re: Random: Is Masahiro Sakurai Throwing Shade At Pokémon's Trees?
@Not_Soos GameFreak are not one of their best devs. There is a reason why Pokemon games are quite behind in the technical aspect (and arguebly other aspects too).
Aside from that you are right tho. This article is just pointless tabloid-level drama.
Re: Feature: "Unfinished Business" - Why Gilbert & Grossman Returned To Monkey Island
@Noxide oh boy here we go...
Re: Rumour: Amazon Is Reportedly Preparing To Buy Electronic Arts
@Marxally Honestly? I'm surprised Ubisoft is still there. Sure, EA has recently lost the FIFA name, which is like 80% of what they have. But Ubisoft has cancelled so many games, lost so many people and even their execs don't seem enthusiastic about continuing leading the company. But they are still there somehow.
Re: Poll: What Do You Want To See From This Week's Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct?
Something that actually entices me. Every trailer until now just screams Splatoon 2+ to me. I want new modes, story details, a single player that feels different to the main story of the previous two games...
