@victordamazio Again, it seems to me like you are exaggerating.
And if you are not talking about the game in a comment section about set game then what are you doing here? Just being angry against a non existent thread? Is people asking for pronouns such a big deal to you? Like, if you don't want to use them just ignore them. It's not that hard.
@victordamazio Don't you think "colonialism" is a weird accusation to throw arround tho? Also, to my knowledge, this game is offering an option. They are not forcing you to do anything.
Like seriously. You see the things that are changing with the remake and of ALL the changes the fact that people can choose a non binary character is the thing you are bothered by? Really?
@johnvboy They have not change much because people keep accepting it. Like you do. And every time a Pokemon game releases people keep doing the same.
Tell me that I'm overexaggerating If you want but that is what I see. I mean, look at you repeating the same argument of "other Switch games have issues" like 5 times despite that not changing anything about SV performance issues, issues that are worse than other Switch games.
@HellbladesFFXI Time does matter with Skyrim tho since the newer releases don't get as high of a score due to not fixing all of those issues. Like I said, if SV came out in 2011 I would probably be more kind to it due to graphical power at the time (specially on the Nintendo side, since the home console then was the Wii). But it came out in 2022.
If you don't mind the performance issues then fine, you do you. But those exist and I don't think people are unreasonable when they say they shouldn't. Specially on a game that, let's be real, doesn't look like it's pushing graphical boundries.
@johnvboy The thing is, I'm not. I played games that had a lot of perfomance issues too. What bothers me the most is that the usually the games I played that have those issues are because they are trying to be ambitious with the hardware while in this case is unreasonable deadlines and maybe inexperience and lack of budget (somehow).
it also helps that the performance issues in this case are INCREDIBLE noticiable. Like, REALLY noticiable and constant. I said this earlier but in multiple streams I saw of this game it chugged right at the beggining of the game while turning the camara in your room. And it doesn't really improve much.
And no, I don't own the game. I saw like 6 hours of gameplay footage from different people and saw those issues and I said that I'd wait. I made the mistake of buying SWSH in order to give it a fair shot despite me thinking I was not going to like it after investigating a bit and I ended up disliking it, just like I knew I would. Not making that mistake again. I only bought Arceus after liking what I saw, if the issues are fixed and the innevitable DLC is good maybe I'll bite. Not for now.
And, again, we don't know IF a patch is coming and if it is we don't know how much it would actually fix the game.
Who knows, maybe GameFreak just ignores the situation and moves on after the inevitable high sales of the game. They did that in the past with other issues and critism they faced.
@johnvboy You are the one that seem to be arguing for fun.
1. SV have poor framerate and pop in.
"But other games do that too. Other Switch games have poor framerate and pop in".
2. Yeah, but in SV that framerate and pop in are worse than other Switch game while not looking all that better.
"But when BoTW came out that game was patched super fast and was running poorly at launch!"
3. But, again, in this case is worse than...
-* repeats points *
Again, it looks like you're bringing other games down to make SV look better in comparason.
Even at launch, BoTW looked better and run better than SV at launch. Some people complained about the framerate in launch BoTW? Probably. But it was still a better looking game than runs better than launch SV.
Oh and, yeah, you're right. In static things can look awful but look better in motion sometimes... but in motion is where the fps issues are more noticiable. Also, BoTW looked good in screenshots too. And, again, launch title.
Say you don't care about the game running poorly if you want. But this constant push to generalize things or blame the console itself is the thing I dislike the most about this whole situation. There are Switch games that run and look better (at launch too) than SV, that's a fact. You can care about that or not but don't deny it at least.
@johnvboy So now are you trying to paint like Zelda was not launched "great" and patched "shortly after"? Because that is false. At the very least compared to the level of SV.
To this day, the only area with consistently low fps is the center of Korok forest. And the game looks and runs better than SV in every single way (while also being a game originally designed for the WIi U).
Are you trying to bring that game down to paint SV in a better light? Because that is what it looks like.
I agree that Pokemon is a victim of the devs and incredible short deadlines tho. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't critize it or that I should buy it out of pity.
In the end, I play games to have fun and the game was published as is (with the same price as BoTW too) so I think I should critize it as such.
I feel sorry for the devs but the product itself should be rated as such and not because "this is their first open world game" or "this is their first game on the Switch" or even "this is their first 3D game". BoTW was the Zelda team first open world game too, you know?
Also, yes, the game got away easier because it has Pokemon in the name. Maybe not in Nintendo Life but in metacritic there are some critics that gave the game 100/100. I'm sorry but I don't believe it would have got scores like that if it was a new IP.
@Wexter I get that you are trying to extend an olive branch but I don't like how you try to frame you being rude to me as "firm and snarky" while I'm just apperantly plain old rude. I mean, sorry to say that I found multiple of your comments rude as well, you know?
Anyways, I appreciate it at least. I apologise for being rude and I'll delete that comment. Hoping you delete all the comments being rude to me.
@HellbladesFFXI The framerate issues exists. You can ignore them and say that you are enjoying the game despite those issues, which is fine, but they exist. Right since the beginning of the game. I doubt there are many cases outside of battles where you can get 30fps stable.
And I said it before but here it goes again: Skyrim came out in 2011. Did SV came out in 2011? Also, do you know an open world game that was done by a team that never did an open world game before and came out quite well? BoTW.
@johnvboy is labeling people "reactionary" helpful for a disscussion? Or admitting you are just being a "sarcastic prick"?
Also, like I said earier, people can say that they are enjoying the game despite the issues but if they go "they are recieving way too much critism" then I can say that people may be a bit generous because it's Pokemon, something that I still believe it's the case.
@Wexter The Outerworlds was not even made with the Switch in mind. It's a port. And people complained a LOT about it's issues when it launched. On Switch it has a lower critic score than SV after all.
By the way, BoTW came out at launch and looked and played better than SV in every single way. And it was an open world game made for the Switch. That game was the one I was obviously refeering to.
And, yes, the frame pacing issues are worse than Arceus. Not sure about the textures tho since it's a fierce competition.
Also, love how you now went for "you are being too emotional" when you felt the need to be a "sarcastic prick" when your favorite game got critized online.
@Axecon You can look up gameplay online if you want. But the answer is that It is worse than Arceus. If it would be bad enough to wait for patches (or even avoid the game) it's your call.
@Wexter Are you just going to keep coming with examples (some that are not even as bad as SV anyways) that you think prove your point until the end of time?
And, yes, you were clearly mocking me. And now you are saying that apperantly I showed myself as a "reactionary" and "acting like a teenager" because I took you being a sarcastic prick (your words, not mine) and calling me "reactionary" as insulting. And the gall to call me a teenager when you are using the "you started it" excuse. Again, when you don't have arguments, you go to personal insults. Classic.
I never forced you to be a sarcastic prick. You did that all by yourself. This is over.
@Wexter Oh wow. Instead of 2011 you go up to 2014. Amazing. Why don't you compare it to an open world game that is on the Switch? One that even launch with it, That would be a fun comparason. It launched even more recently than 2014 too, since it was in 2017. I heard it even has a sequel coming up as well.
Also, like I said, I did my due diligence with SV. I watched plenty of videos and looked up information. I'm not speaking without knowing here. All of the issues I mentioned until now happen in the game. And if they don't then I welcome actual corrections to the issues I mentioned.
If people want to have fun despite the issues it has then be my guess. But if people can go here and say "the haters of this game are overblowing the complaints" then I can say that the people defending it are being a BIT generous with their score. Which is the most I said. You mocked me much more than I mocked anyone here.
@Mgalens To me the tone was set in when I saw people having frame pacing issues on your room right at the start of the game. And it doesn't improve much either.
@Wexter The what are you saying here? What I am saying is that whose bugs exist and actually worsen the experience. And I love how you keep pointing towards the funny visual glitches and the crashing. Fun fact, I never mentioned that those were the problems. For me the problems are the awful framerate an pop in more than anything else. Well, that and the animations but I guess that's a "GameFreak staple" at this point. Are those also present on those unspecified AAA Sony games? Because I don't think this level of unpolishness is present on the other 1rst party Nintendo output on the same console as SV.
And, again, Insulting and making fun of me doesn't make your point stronger. It just make you look like an ass.
Finally, Skyrim came out in 2011. If that is the big comparason to make SV look better you should think about another example because SV came out in 2022, 11 years later. Specially seeing how every time that engine is reused people complain more and more.
@johnvboy To be fair, that is true. Although I believe that people ARE going easy on it because it has "Pokemon" in the title. Like I said, a smaller franchise would have been destroyed critically.
@johnvboy We'll see if the game is patched in an eventful matter and all of this bugs are fixed. Still bad the game released like this tho.
And I'm not bothered by people not caring about the performance. At most I'm bothered about people pretending that those don't exist and using the IGN review point scale of "the game is not THAT broken? It has Pokemon on the name? 10/10". If this was a smaller franchise, it would have been destroyed critically.
And, yes, people that buy a game are going to think it is good, obviously. Since they spent money on it and it has the Pokemon name on it.
Although it is true that some people that didn't play the game will vote too. Too bad we can't know how many.
@johnvboy Why you keep saying "I didn't mention Zelda" as that says anything? People brought up Zelda because it is another open world game on the Switch so they are comparing it.
@OctoAmbush Sure, there is a bunch of competition. SWSH, BDSP and even Let's Go. Look at that, all recent games. Except Arceus, whose biggest improvements were ignored with SV (why the battles are so slow again, seriously? Noone is saying it here but that was the biggest improvement with Arceus).
@somnambulance Not going to give a penny to GameFreak. I made that mistake with SWSH. I saw gameplay and information, knew I was not going to like it, bought it to "give it a fair shot" and I had the exact reaction I knew I would have.
When I decided to buy Arceus, that was because I saw stuff that I actually liked enough to give it a shot. I'm not feeling that with SV.
@rallydefault Noone knows if this game is going to get patched. Neither do you.
And I don't care this is "the" Pokemon game for the next couple of years. I hated SWSH during the time it was relevant and I didn't care at al about it.
And, despite me really disliking SWSH desitions and not really being drawn by it's gameplay I saw online, I decided to buy it to give it a fair shot. And... I ended up hating it, just like I knew I would. Not going to make that mistake again. At the very least I'm going to wait a getting it second hand or from a friend. Even if GameFreak is going to get millions from this game, it won't be from me.
Like I said earlier, I'm allowed to have an opinion about a game I don't have. I have seen hours of gameplay from multiple players online and read a bunch of information about the game.
@johnvboy I honestly hate the whole "you are not allowed to critize a game unless you buy it" argument. Sure, if you didn't play the game you probably don't know everything about it.
But there are videos and streams for a reason. I've been watching different people play through the first 5 hours of the game and, at the very least, I think I have the judgement to say that the performance issues are not excusable in any way and that, at the moment, nothing is really drawing me to the game. And, aside from that, I'm just so dissapointed that, after 5 years of the Switch and like 8 years of 3D Pokemon, people still use the "GameFreak is still getting used to it" excuse.
It just looks like a rushed game that took out the things I enjoyed the most from Arceus. So rushed/10? backwards step/10?
@somnambulance Skyrim came out in 2011. Open world games were much more primitive.
Nowadays Bethesda games draw critism due to their old engine full of bugs. So, in that sense, I guess they are quite symilar to GameFreak after all...
@Wexter I saw a streamer play through the game not a glitch compilation. I'm not "reactionary" when I say that those glithes (and specially the framerate issues) are real and shouldn't be there.
@somnambulance There is more to a game than technical performance but technical performance is a part of the game. Ignoring them is just wrong. And I usually don't care about this stuff.
Also, no,I didn't play it. I can see the framerates and bugs in gameplay videos. I'd think about it when/if the game runs better.
@iLikeUrAttitude They won't since it sells and people even defend them for releasing games like this. Hence why I'm complaining. This isn't a one off. The schedule of Pokemon games has been an issue since they went into 3D.
@Wexter No. So what? I can't have an opinion based on gameplay footage that is public online? I just don't want to give GameFreak money until the game runs at least ok.
@SilvercatMoonpaw I guess I shouldn't complain about IGN rating system being between 7-10 or them rating games before finishing them since people seem to do the exact same thing.
@Vertigoat Maybe you didn't realise but I was answering to a comment that said " It's not perfect, but I feel I have to give this game a pretty good score for making me want to know what happens next.". I simply said that we don't know what happens next and rating it high because of that is not fair.
@SilvercatMoonpaw This sounds harsh but you rate the game not "what happens next". I don't think it's a 0/10, but neither a 10/10 because they "may do a better game with this structure in the future".
@johnvboy You said that other games launch with bugs too. I used as an example one of the most popular open world games that was also a launch title for the Switch, the same platform as SV. I bringed up Zelda and I did it for a reason.
And yes, that game was in development for ages. Is that a bad thing?
@SonOfDracula We are already at the "critism is toxic" and "I have fun therefore critism is invalid" phase. Sooner than I expected but it's Pokemon so probably Scarlet and Violet are going to be first on the list soon.
Maybe I'm "too negative" but... I'm just tired. After I had some hope with Arceus then they just had to rush SV and of course people would buy it and defend it anyways.
@somnambulance I disagree. I think the game is being excused this much specifically because it's Pokemon. If BoTW2 came out and looked like SV, people would s*** on it (deservely) but with Pokemon now people are already trying to come up with excuses when games come out rougher each time.
I finally finished Xenoblade 3 earlier this week (amazing game btw) so I'm ready to start games from my backlog. Those are Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Bayonetta 3. Maybe some time with Splatoon 3 too, I still haven't finished the story mode.
I'm not picking up the new Pokemon tho. It seems to be full of tech issues (related to the game itself and not the Switch power btw) and have an even smaller post game than SWSH (which is an accomplisment at this point honestly). Maybe if the innevitable DLC is good and they do a combo pack like with SWSH or I borrow it from a friend or something. Right now, it's time to go through my backlog.
@Jeronan I agree that SV have lot of dissapointing issues (the fact that there isn't even a Battle Tower says a lot) but launch SWSH was also quite bad.
The story was really bad while also interrupting you every 5 seconds and the routes outside the wild area were uninteresting corridors. It also suffered from the now classic 3D animation GameFreak issues, including the moving characters 180 degrees with no animation at all an really stiff battle animations. All while saying that those animations were the reason not all Pokemon were in the game. Saying people didn't have valid issues with SWSH and it was just Dexit is just lieing.
SV is worse in that regard but that's because 3 years later it has the same issues plus more while Arceus already fixed some of them the very same year it came out.
And, let's be clear here, the post game in SWSH was also short and uninteresting. It's just than in SV it seems to be short and uninteresting without the Battle Tower this time. I guess they are going to say that not a lot of people played those so they removed them, like they did for every single post game feature since B2&W2.
@Darknilious BoTW is a game that came out on the original Switch 5 years ago.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@johnvboy Why you keep saying "I didn't mention Zelda" as that says anything? People brought up Zelda because it is another open world game on the Switch so they are comparing it.
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@OctoAmbush Sure, there is a bunch of competition.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@somnambulance Skyrim came out in 2011. Open world games were much more primitive.
Nowadays Bethesda games draw critism due to their old engine full of bugs. So, in that sense, I guess they are quite symilar to GameFreak after all...
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@Wexter I saw a streamer play through the game not a glitch compilation. I'm not "reactionary" when I say that those glithes (and specially the framerate issues) are real and shouldn't be there.
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@somnambulance There is more to a game than technical performance but technical performance is a part of the game. Ignoring them is just wrong. And I usually don't care about this stuff.
Also, no,I didn't play it. I can see the framerates and bugs in gameplay videos. I'd think about it when/if the game runs better.
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@iLikeUrAttitude They won't since it sells and people even defend them for releasing games like this. Hence why I'm complaining. This isn't a one off. The schedule of Pokemon games has been an issue since they went into 3D.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@Wexter No. So what? I can't have an opinion based on gameplay footage that is public online? I just don't want to give GameFreak money until the game runs at least ok.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@WaltherP99 What is this trend of people rating games based on unconfirmed patches or DLC?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@somnambulance Skyrim was in 2011 and Pokemon games were still 2D back then. It's a decade later with many better open world game released.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@SilvercatMoonpaw I guess I shouldn't complain about IGN rating system being between 7-10 or them rating games before finishing them since people seem to do the exact same thing.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@Wexter We don't know if the game is going to be patched tho.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@Vertigoat Maybe you didn't realise but I was answering to a comment that said " It's not perfect, but I feel I have to give this game a pretty good score for making me want to know what happens next.". I simply said that we don't know what happens next and rating it high because of that is not fair.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
@SilvercatMoonpaw This sounds harsh but you rate the game not "what happens next".
I don't think it's a 0/10, but neither a 10/10 because they "may do a better game with this structure in the future".
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?
The ones giving it a 10/10 must be joking at this point. Same with 0/10. Guys... Please XD
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@johnvboy You said that other games launch with bugs too. I used as an example one of the most popular open world games that was also a launch title for the Switch, the same platform as SV. I bringed up Zelda and I did it for a reason.
And yes, that game was in development for ages. Is that a bad thing?
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@SonOfDracula We are already at the "critism is toxic" and "I have fun therefore critism is invalid" phase. Sooner than I expected but it's Pokemon so probably Scarlet and Violet are going to be first on the list soon.
Maybe I'm "too negative" but... I'm just tired. After I had some hope with Arceus then they just had to rush SV and of course people would buy it and defend it anyways.
Re: Random: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Body-Horror Glitches Are Going Viral
@NinjaNicky Xenoblade 3 came out this year. It looks and rusn better than SV. On the same console.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@Mauzuri Seeing what GameFreak did in the past, I think they won't even bother with performance patches. Hoping I'm wrong but I just don't see it.
@FishyS I mean... Arceus is a new game and somehow that one is rate higher. Maybe is not all nostalgia?
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
@somnambulance I disagree. I think the game is being excused this much specifically because it's Pokemon. If BoTW2 came out and looked like SV, people would s*** on it (deservely) but with Pokemon now people are already trying to come up with excuses when games come out rougher each time.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 19th)
Re: Review: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet - An Open-World Poké Playground Full Of Promise (And Tech Issues)
