I'm glad they finally addressed the aspect ratio issue, which was a really dumb issue to have on a retro device, but I still have the horrible quality picture on these. They obviously use a composite connection to the built in display making the picture fuzzy and blurry.
Oh so happy to see this. I'll happily double dip after buying the collectors edition on vita and play again. I'm assuming this is a pretty of the ps4 version with the small added features from that one but will have to wait to see for sure. This is a great game for anyone who likes the series or action rpgs in general.
Day one purchase for me. I tried this on ps3 then ps4 and porting to switch would bring me back in a heartbeat, even if I had to start over. Its a good mmo and the controls with a gamepad are excellent. I'd happily double, er triple dip this one on switch.
I'm so tired of overpriced dlc. Yes there's a lot here, but omg its more than the cost of the game. I won't be supporting it, nothing against anyone who does. To each their own, but that price is = another game. Passing.
I honestly would rather they make the normal sized new 3ds available again. Luckily, I got two on black Friday and those are what my son and I use. I don't understand it not being available all the time here, even if not at the steal of $99 that I got these for. Even at $150 they were selling (Mario model).
Physical whenever possible. You never truly "own" digital titles. Physical games can be played years after a system and service are obsolete. Not saying I don't buy digital, but if theres a choice ill pay extra for physical copies. I purchased the Japanese version of I am Setsuna so id have a copy to play years from now.
I'm a backer and looking forward to my switch copy, but yeah I just threw up in my mouth a little. I get the nostalgia but id rather they just kept working on the game hehe.
@Great_Gonzalez I agree. Look at PS Vita physical games, which are basically the same size and likely a similar format as Switch. If limited run games can work with sony to produce small batches of only 5000 or so copies of a game and still sell the game for $25+ I don't see why Rime would be $10 more on switch than digital. I'll likely still buy it and as a physical copy because I'm a collector. This reasoning doesn't really make sense to me though. Yes these cards cost more than a plastic disk, but not enough to justify a retail price increase.
I took my dock apart yesterday and added some adhesive microsuede strips to the inside. While I haven't had any scratches, I didn't want to take the chance. It worked like a charm, although these don't look bad and are obviously much easier to install since they simply slip on and you don't have to disassemble you're dock.
I have a screen protector since opening the switch so I don't have any scratches. I was thinking of finding something thin to line the dock with though since hearing of these issues. I just need to look around to see what's available. I'd like something thinner to put on both the front and back insides of the dock. That way it'll be like sliding it into microfiber or suede each time. Maybe someone has adhesive microfiber sheets?
At the end of the day, I really don't care what's in it. If its a 386, then damn Nintendo did a great job because the games look great and I honestly can't wait to play them. I know some people really need to base their opinions on specs, but whatever is inside the switch seems powerful enough to run the games I want to play so I'm excited for march 3rd.
I was lucky enough to get a pre-order in for my switch and breath of the wild. I then found a pre-order for breath of the wild special edition. Now I just have to hope that the special edition is here launch day so I don't have to open the regular one. And no, I cant just wait, it's Zelda.
It's really good to hear about pre-orders selling out which is a good sign for the Switch and Nintendo now.
Do we know what speeds (read/write) the switch will be able to support? Samsung pro cards with uhs3 support can handle 90/95MB/s (write/read) speeds but if the switch adapter can't take advantage of that I could save money with a bit slower card.
C'mon people, third party batteries will be made and possibly larger capacity ones. Years down the road, there will be tons of videos on YouTube on how we can all replace our switch batteries after buying a replacement from amazon. This is not the end of the world, its simply modern portable electronics. They make it slimmer and lighter by not putting it in a user accessible area. It doesn't mean in 5-10 years you won't be able to get it replaced or replace it yourself. Look up all the older phone and tablet videos from YouTube or ifixit. If they made it user replaceable it could make the device much thicker and then people would complain that its not iPad thin. The way people complain about every little decision on the switch, I really don't get it. Let Nintendo innovate and try the thing yourself before you crucify the company as idiots. If it fails in 2-4 years then they will learn from it, but from looking at the preorder sellouts, it seems like they really made some good decisions as people are ordering every one they have to ship. I could go on and one, hut no you aren't getting a 4k handheld with a 1tb ssd, 8gb of gddr5, and a 10,000mah user replaceable battery in a console the size of a large phone. Think about it before you start crying about every desist n you make. They have a ton of engineers and vast experience in portables. I'm sure they know what they are doing.
Who cares? I and surely everyone else buying a switch has tens of streaming devices (phones, tablets, set top, consoles) already. I'm perfectly fine with this being a game only game console.
If specs were the only important aspect, then someone explain why the DS and 3DS were so much more successful than the PSP and the Vita? Sony always had more horsepower, yet Nintendo handhelds always ended up with huge marketshare. Now I'm not trying to argue, I'm just making a point. Yes graphics matter, but they aren't the most important thing to everyone. While they may be to you...remember, that's just your personal opinion.
I sure hope they see their issue before manufacture. It should be relatively easy to reposition the L and R buttons to the sides or back. If they do that then there's a good chance this will be fairly successful.
Omg, why on earth didn't they put L and R on the back, or even the sides. That's just stupid. I'll keep using my gba with ags101 screen. I really hoped they wouldn't screw something this easy up, but obviously that didn't happen. Why not just use a gba similar form factor at least?
Unfortunately the ds and ds lite can't play gb or gbc games, only ds and gab titles. While I have an sp, a gba with an ags101 screen, and a ds lite, id be interested in a modern handheld to play all three types of games. My current ones are awesome but pricey to replace and will gradually be harder to find and more expensive and supplies dwindle. I look forward to see how their portable turns out.
Since you mentioned the Wii U hdd crash you experienced, how about an article on options and best practices for backing up both the Wii U and 3DS? I'm sure plenty of people would appreciate that so they don't run into the same issue you did. Thanks.
Picked 5, but really wish I could pick 10-15 from your list. The NGC had so many great titles and you have many listed. too bad it sold poorly it was a powerful system and the controllers were amazingly comfortable.
I hope this is correct. Its exactly what I want from Nintendo, a portable that is also a home console. If graphics are Wii u or better, its perfect. Leave the competition to Sony and Microsoft and give us awesome games we can play both at home and on the go. There are so many 3ds games id like to play on TV and more Wii u games id like to take with me or play while in bed on a handheld. This will sell like hotcakes.
No thanks, it just doesn't appear interesting or fun to me. Keep letting us know of Kickstarter and indiegogo games to look at though. I've pledged for several happily over the last couple years.
I'd rather have the native american than the cowboy, but really neither one fully fits into a fantasy rpg in my opinion. If you want a gun toting character then go for it, there are plenty of types in fantasy rpg games that dont have to sound like a southerner. If you want a native type character with melee then go for it as well. Again both of these have been done before. I think the only offending thing that may have existed in the tomahawk character was the headdress. Remove that and you can still have a native american type character and keep most people pretty happy.
I like final fantasy as much as most everyone else, but thi trailer doesn't help me make a decision since its again only focused on multiplayer. There's always subtext saying you can play solo but I haven't really seen any solo gameplay. I don't have anyone I can play with, especially being a 42 year old dad. Will I be able to play this solo and is it a hunting game like monster hunter? I don't care for those. If so, I'll just wait for world of final fantasy. That one looks like it'll be closer to a real jrpg. I'm just afraid this is monster hunter and it's just not my cup of tea.
I have to agree that a mature title, regardless of how much I like it, just isn't going to sell well on the 3ds. Moon chronicles and xeodrifter were let downs. Doesn't matter how much respect we have for the studio if they simply aren't making great games that people want to play or making the right kinds of games for their platform of choice. To all marketing errors on their part and mediocre titles really.
The article doesn't say but I'm assuming the data packs are on the internal ssd and not an external mechanical drive? I downloaded the packs and I assume the Wii u put them on my external. Should I move them to internal or is that going to make much difference?
I don't personally care about the lingerie but why on earth remove it on an M rated game? This isn't for kids and it's not like we don't already get senra kagura, dead or alive volleyball, and rumble roses here in the west? It just seems a bit silly to remove underwear from an already rated M game here.
For heavy urban areas in can see this becoming very popular. I hope they have some sense in their programming for those of us in more rural areas that don't walk to work or all over a city each day. I for one drive 45 minutes each way to work then sit in an office. It will be interesting to see how far they expect people to go looking for Pokemon when this comes out.
@Yorumi sure it can be done but I think even with current technology it will be cost prohibited. Even if just a normal sad card were used, say 64gb. That's probably $50 plus just for he card. I know large quantities will save a some money but it may still end up being $30-$40 per car. That leaves little room for the developer and Nintendo to make much money on the game. Things could easily change though and Nintendo could have something interesting up their sleeve. I'd love to see cartridges of some sort so we can either pop it into our home NX or our portable NX on the go. It's possible but will take some serious engineering to make it cost effective. Maybe they have the costs down on 3ds type cards and can really expand the storage on those. Who knows.
@MrGuinea very possible. I hope that's not the case but times are changing and it could happen. I don't think the us infrastructure is quite ready for all digital. Many rural areas just don't have decent speeds and then you have collectors like myself that really don't like the idea of digital at all. I buy some but they are mostly eshop only games that have no physical release. I'd hate to see it come to that only but we'll have to wait and see.
@Yorumi the problem is flash memory like an ad card isn't meant for log term storage. They don't last anywhere near the length of actual cartridge memory or even optical. This is why the vita and 3ds use proprietary cartridges instead of simple sd cards. Hopefully Nintendo can create something less expensive that lasts as long as cartridge memory while holding enough data for HD video and decent audio. I'm not sure what the current limit is on 3ds cartridges but resident evil revelations was huge compared to most. Several gigs if I remember correctly but still nothing close to the 50gb of a bluray. I think cost may force these into digital only which will be a shame.
I love the idea of blending home and mobile but I'm unsure how games will work. In order to hold enough data for high resolution graphics and audio you either need a physical disk or huge downloads. If you end up able to take your gaming on the go after buying home version how will that work? The handheld won't have an optical drive, not something full size at least and we know the pains the psp had. Does this mean we may end up in a digital only age for NX? As a collector I truly hope not. i am hopeful this works out though. The idea of playing some of my 3ds games on the tv or full home games on the go will be really nice.
I really fear for Nintendo now. I love Zelda games but other than four swords they have always been single player and that's really what their fans want and enjoy. If you're going to make another mp Zelda game at least give us some usable and enjoyable single player way of playing it. This really just looks Iike torture to play alone. I'm not into mp gaming so I'll pass.
I tried the demo and could have got past the seriously lacking story and character development. My problem and the same most people are having is the cryptic leveling system that basically ruins this game. I so wanted to love it and even walked up to the counter to buy it before I came to my senses and dropped it. If they changed to a normal leveling system I'd be behind the game, but as is, it's just not fun with ff2 leveling mechanics.
I really don't see the point of a dongle on my mobile device. Why not just use existing app stores to buy the games or make them in app purchases inside the emulator app? I don't personally want to carry around any cartridges for playing games on my phone or tablet when I could just download directly to the storage on the devices. And as metalface said, I won't be able to plug in my awesome z moda headphones with this stupid thing. No thanks.
Working at a children's hospital, I can tell you first hand how important a company like this is. We have kids of all ages coming in, some for extremely long time frames. Having video games is something both kids and adults enjoy, but many families isly can't afford nor can they haul them into the hospital all the time. We have a few areas with video game consoles setup for the kids and I've seen them really getting immersed which is great as they get some time to forget about the real world they are in for a time. I'm glad to see nintendo and starlight acting as partners for something like this.

If you're going to make another mp Zelda game at least give us some usable and enjoyable single player way of playing it. This really just looks Iike torture to play alone. I'm not into mp gaming so I'll pass.
Re: Video: Here's Some More Footage of The Legend of Legacy
I tried the demo and could have got past the seriously lacking story and character development. My problem and the same most people are having is the cryptic leveling system that basically ruins this game. I so wanted to love it and even walked up to the counter to buy it before I came to my senses and dropped it. If they changed to a normal leveling system I'd be behind the game, but as is, it's just not fun with ff2 leveling mechanics.
Re: Chromophore: The Two Brothers is Still Heading to Wii U, Developer Explains Delay
Looks good, although from the gameboy graphics it looks like it would be a better fit for the 3ds, or both at least.
Re: Weirdness: Japanese Company Wants To Bring NES Games To Smartphones Via A Tiny Cartridge
No thanks.
Re: Nintendo of America Makes Young Boy's Dream Come True as He Meets Reggie Fils-Aime
