I enjoyed what I played of the ds version before my son broke my shoulder button. I've repladed that 3ds with the "new" one and forgot to go back to play the ds game. Being for 3ds now, the texture improvement should be massive so I'll try to wait to play the new version. It's really too bad it's digital only. Being a collector, physical is important, but renegade Kidd needs the support, so I'll let it slide for this developer. Hopefully with their existing games they make enough money to continue working on the failed kickstarter, Cult County as I was excited for that.
I'll pick this up when it's on clearance. If the mp is its only redeeming factor then obviously they spent too much time on that aspect and not enough on the campaign. If they wanted a mp only game then they should have done that. Not everyone wants to play mp games all the time so having a subpar sp game is going to get a subpar review. They built a single player game with multi-player, reviewers are going to score it that way.
I seriously hope this is some kind of integrated portable and home console with wii u and 3ds backwards compatibility. There are so many awesome 3ds games, but I simply am not comfortable with a handheld. The thought of playing them on the tv sounds just perfect to me. I enjoy my gb and gba games on my gamecube gameboy player so something similar with current technology would really give me the best of both worlds while also allowing nintendo to have new audiences since people could play both portable and home games however they please. C'mon nintendo, we have faith in you still to turn things around.
Already pledged for a boxed snes version. If anyone is interested, John Lester also has a YouTube channel, gamester81, which has great retro and current reviews. He's a very cool guy, I've been watching him for years.
Nintendo, it's beyond comprehension why limited editions would only be available in your single physical store in new York and you cant order it online. At this point just don't offer them here in the US. You make absolutely no sense with decisions like this.
@BossBattles same here. Got the wii u shortly after launch as well as a ps4, xbox one, and my gaming laptop. I'm covered for whatever come out as usual.
I have all three new systems so I'm not really bothered that is not on the wii u. We have to remember that the original game was on playstation the first go round so it's not lot this has always been a nintendo game. I'm just happy to have an upgraded version to play with hopefully better controls. If capcom wants to really impress is and make some money they need to completely revamp re2, 3, and choose Veronica. Now those sorely need it and would sell very well.
maybe, but moon chronicles on 3ds was a bit dissappointing. i dont think id personally care for it again even on the more comfortable home console. too bad cult county was asking for a rediculous amount of money with no worthwhile video to entice prospective backers. in the end the video they did show was a simple walk through a basic looking environment. whatever they do, they really need to get further along before putting it on kickstarter this time. i mean you cant expect $500k from people when only showing them artist renders.
Personally I'm glad so many people are excited about this I guess, but I for one would never go back to using a weird controller. I still have my wavebyrd, but the wii u pro controller has at least the same amount of control buttons and sticks as well as vibration so I see no point in using it for a wii u game. In the other hand, if this is successful, I foresee nintendo either making wavebyrds again for use with this, or, and this I would actually love, a new tech wavebyrd. Take it the rf and batteries and insert bluetooth, radio, and a lithium battery. All the two control a lot of people want, but great Wireless and vibration as well as recharge ability.
@Cathousemaster it sure would for me. Haven't picked the game up yet as I'm out of town, but I will later tonight when I get home. Looks relaxing and I'm hoping my daughter will like it. I've been having a hard time finding a game she has enough interest in to get her started gaming. She's 6. My 3 year old son though has no problem and has been playing mario games for almost a year now. It helps that both mom and dad play to get him into it. Here's hoping Flowerworks does it for the girl. The game looks great to me, but I've played the original. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to your teams next project on wii u.
Something I think could be helpful in the short term.. Like 6 months to 1 year, is some vc n64 and GameCube games. Also port over some of the great 3ds titles to Wii u like link between worlds, Luigi's mansion, ocarina of time, etc. Just a small bump in resolution is fine, they don't even need new textures on these.
@rjejr You're absolutely right. I love my Wii u and I love the gamepad controller. The problem is both third and first party games aren't really here yet. While I won't say anything negative about wind waker HD, it's a beautiful game and one of my favorite Zelda titles, it wasn't what anyone wanted our expected; neither is another donkey Kong game. Customers want a new Zelda title and a new metroid. The gamepad is cool and I love using it, but we need the quality nitendo games we buy Nintendo consoles for. Mario kart and ssb will help, but we need the games we all want. I just hope Nintendo and retro are working on them.
@ROBLOGNICK I totally agree. I've been saying this for months. Get the virtual console running with n64, gamecube, Saturn, dreamcast, etc and things will start turning around. There's a lot of people who want to pay these older girls but don't want to pay rediculous prices for old games and systems from collectors. They also need to seriously get with capcom about updating the resident evil games and releasing them on wii u as timed exclusives, then get them out to other consoles after. I would say normal exclusives but with the small market share wii u has, just no way capcom would do that.
At first I didn't know what to think. Actually now, its an ingenious idea. Its cheaper, removes the 3d, and removes the hinge which can be a breaking/weak point down the road. My only gripe is that from looking on nintendo's site, it appears to be the same screen size as the original 3ds. If it were 3DS XL size, then it would indeed be a good bargain. If it had the larger screens and I didnt already have a 3ds xl, I'd get one.
