Square really should have made FF7 for the N64. By not submitting to sony back then, now they would be strong and independant like Nintendo.

Axelay is already a difficult game with a lot of sudden and unexpected attacks. I'm not sure speeding it up is a good thing.

If Persona 5 Royal was released on a Nintendo system people would complain it's a port of a 1 year old game released with too little new content and at full price and it would have never gotten the score it got on PS4. Nintendo is competiting with megacorps much bigger than them while having their hands tied. So what they're achieving is admirable.

@koekiemonster You didn't give me any evidence Nintendo paid for Monster Hunter. And in the end the Monster Hunter series sold much more on 3DS than on PSP so it made sense financially wise. Also Monster Hunter went on WiiU because it performed much better on Wii than on PS3.

@koekiemonster Doubtful. The Vita was such a disaster in Japan it would have been dumb to stay on Sony handheld and not move on Nintendo handheld that are always super popular in Japan. If they wanted Monster Hunter to sell on Sony's systems after their audience change they would have to westernize Monster Hunter which they did with Monster Hunter World.

@eltomo Sony wanted Nintendo to pay royalties for every nintendo games sold on playstation. They basically wanted Nintendo to become third party on Playstation. Nintendo just said no to be eaten by a bigger company. And they were right to do so. Look at the company who became Sony's third party during that time like Square, Namco or Konami and dare telling me they're in a better state than Nintendo now.

@nessisonett Maybe because working conditions are terrible in playstation studios and developers are treated like trash. But keep defending the giant greedy megacorps that is much bigger and make much more margin than nintendo.

More workforce for graphics means less workforce for game design. Videogames companies aren't chocolate factories and their workforce and budget are limited. Lot of games have higher budget graphics than BOTW but very few of them have even half of the interactive possibilities with the world BOTW has.

@nessisonett Quality standards are much lower on PS4 though so your comment makes no sense. Look how the Ratchet series is getting away with all the sequels that don't add any new game mechanics.
Meanwhile some Nintendo series get hugely criticized and die for changing too much while Nintendo is getting accused to not try anything new. There 's obviously a double standard and an anti nintendo narrative here.

@thesilverbrick You need to learn the superman dive. You're invincible during all the frames of the animation when you do it. It's very useful for noobs.

The problem with these crossovers is the balancing. The Capcom characters were overpowered because they had less frames in their animations so their moves were faster compared to SNk characters.

This is bad for Square-Enix. The original FF7 sold much more than that and very probably had a lower development budget. Not sure how the next parts will perform after the bad word of mouth of the first part.

The game with the biggest budget wins. Boring result. Videogames are supposed to be creative, not a competition of big money.

I remember when Sega was a fast paced arcade games and top tier JRPG factory. Now it only rehash those Yakuza games that are only popular because they're meme factories. I doubt people who discuss about the Yakuza games and post all those stupid gifs are older than teenagers.

@JLPick Huh? Sony entered on the console market with the specific objective to kick out Nintendo and Sega who were dwarves companies compared to Sony. It's considered a big failure within Sony high executive that they still didn't manage to kill Nintendo.

The review score of this game is way too low. this is a true hidden gem on Switch. I would give it a 8 or a 9 if you're fan of Megaman games.

@BenAV Epic create content, Apple don't. As a gamer, supporting Apple is nonsense. Content creators should have as much right as possible on their creation over big wallet companies. And Nintendo is one of the most respectful company over creator's rights.

And where are the suings for the PS5 having 665GB of usable storage space instead of the 1TB their marketing claim? Oh yes there isn't any. We all know where do these suings come from. Always happens when Nintendo sell well and bigger megacorps aren't happy with that.

@Trajan Nintendo being closed off does no have any consequence on the industry as it's a very small company with its own market. Sony being closed off has negative consequences over the whole industry as Sony is a gigantic control freak megacorp who wants to have a grip on everything. The recent decline of the japanese industry is 100% Son's fault as they're holding in hostage many japanese videogames that don't sell on their hardware and limit their exposure. Nintendo don't buy high profile exclusives, only fund games that couldn't be done without them and let the games go elsewhere when they don't sell well on their hardware. Sony prefer watching the japanese industry dying than letting it do well elsewhere.

Have people never heard of Charlie Chaplin or Groucho Marx? They seem to be the most obvious source of inspiration for Mario. And Donkey Kong was obviously King Kong.

@Pigeon Sega videogames division would be much cheaper than Bethesda. Sega don't have any IP on the sales caliber of Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Galaxy 2 is Galaxy 1 without the fat. Shigeru Miyamaoto is right about Mario. It's a game series where the game designer should shine, not the story maker.

@beazlen1 The PS2 was a disappointing console softwares wise in Japan. Sure there were the Metal Gear and the PES games that were very popular but the quality of Square games really dropped compared to the PS1 and many high profile japanese games flopped hard or didn't have a large appeal like Maximo, Okami, Godhand, Silent Hill or Shadow of the Colossus.
