Update [Wed 20th Apr, 2022 16:30] It's official! Digimon Survive will be coming out in the West just a day after the Japanese date, on July 29th. This update was shared on Bandai Namco's YouTube account today, and delivered by the game's producer, Kazumasa Habu, who also worked on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its follow up, among many other Digimon games.

After years of being stuck in development hell, we're delighted to see that it's finally making its way to consoles worldwide this summer, and even more happy that we won't have to wait very long at all.

Original article [Mon 18th Apr, 2022 13:50 BST] Digimon Survive, the chronically-delayed RPG from Bandai Namco, appears to have finally secured a release date, with the game launching (in Japan, at least) on July 28th, 2022.

The news is hopefully the final hurdle for the game, after it was originally supposed to be launching in 2019. It was subsequently delayed to 2020, then to 2021, and then to 2022 - crikey. Like many developers, it seems the COVID-19 pandemic caused havoc for production of the game, with the game's producer, Kazumasa Habu, directly sourcing the pandemic when the game's delay into 2021 was originally announced.

The release date comes from a Japanese magazine, so whether Digimon Survive will launch worldwide on the same date is currently up in the air. Once Bandai Namco confirms for definite, we'll be sure to let you know.

Are you confident Digimon Survive will actually release on July 28th? Will you be picking it up? Let us know with a comment.
