Update [Wed 20th Apr, 2022 16:30] It's official! Digimon Survive will be coming out in the West just a day after the Japanese date, on July 29th. This update was shared on Bandai Namco's YouTube account today, and delivered by the game's producer, Kazumasa Habu, who also worked on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its follow up, among many other Digimon games.
After years of being stuck in development hell, we're delighted to see that it's finally making its way to consoles worldwide this summer, and even more happy that we won't have to wait very long at all.

Original article [Mon 18th Apr, 2022 13:50 BST] Digimon Survive, the chronically-delayed RPG from Bandai Namco, appears to have finally secured a release date, with the game launching (in Japan, at least) on July 28th, 2022.
The news is hopefully the final hurdle for the game, after it was originally supposed to be launching in 2019. It was subsequently delayed to 2020, then to 2021, and then to 2022 - crikey. Like many developers, it seems the COVID-19 pandemic caused havoc for production of the game, with the game's producer, Kazumasa Habu, directly sourcing the pandemic when the game's delay into 2021 was originally announced.
The release date comes from a Japanese magazine, so whether Digimon Survive will launch worldwide on the same date is currently up in the air. Once Bandai Namco confirms for definite, we'll be sure to let you know.
Are you confident Digimon Survive will actually release on July 28th? Will you be picking it up? Let us know with a comment.

Doubt it last update they said they where reworking something in the game…
Edit: I admit this didn't age the best, but this was delayed how many times now? XD
I'm not a big fan of digimon but I hope this game delivers
I can’t wait to play this game
I'll believe it when I see it.
I'll believe it.
I'll believe.
Looking forward to this one!
It's very close, so I believe that will stay. This is a day one for me.
Yes it will survive at last.
All that delay for a VN/strategy game
@Bobb I don't like turn based strategy based games where choice matters a lot, so I'm glad they finally releases this game and would be able to move to next projects possibilities that I'm totally interested: Story game (the ones with leveling and farms), World game, Localizations/Ports/Remakes/Reboots.
Edit: just noticed it is confirmed for Japan at least for now, so I guess after 3 years of delays they decided first focus on Japanese release then worldwide to quicken game's development.
I've heard all kinds of build up for this game. Are they THAT good? I'm not an anime or visual novel fan, so i probably wouldn't like it. I love JRPGs & many turn based strategy games, so i will look at reviews. It's just strange; Usually, when a game is delayed so often, ppl eventually forget about it & move on, but not w this game. Is it just cuz so many ppl like the anime, or are the games that good?
They just memeing at this point
The same day as Xenoblade 3 and a week after Live A Live. Who needs to go outside and socialise during the summer anyway?
I am tentatively excited for this - it looks like it could capture the core fantasy of Digimon better than the Cyber Sleuth games (which confusingly tossed out the isekai elements entirely in favor of... wandering around a bland "metaverse"???).
That said, release timing could not have been worse - XC3 is dropping on the same exact day...
Yeahhh...same day as Xenoblade 3? Sorry Digimon, but Xenoblade's take priority. I do like the cyber sleuth game package on Switch, but....XENOBLADE SAME DAY is a no go.
I might pick it up at launch just in case there's availability issues but there's no way I'm playing it for a while when it's releasing on the same day as Xenoblade. It's like the worst possible time for it, haha.
Hmm we'll see and that's all I have to say. This game has been delayed so many times now I've learnt to expect the unexpected with it. I actually recently finished Digimon World Next Order on PS4.
Nice to see this finally get a release date. But the same day as Xenoblade 3? Sorry but Xenoblade gets priority.
While I'm glad there's FINALLY a set date, releasing it on the same day as Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a poor setup. Sorry, but I'm gonna have to opt for the latter and pick this one up at a later time.
In an effort not to release near Pokemon, it will instead be buried by Xenoblade 3.
I believe it when I see it...
This game is gonna sell bad in Japan. Why would you set the date to compete with XB3? You might as well delay for another month. The game got plenty of delays already anyway where it doesn’t matter
End of July is the start of summer vacation for Japanese schools so maybe that's why they have gone with that date, even so I still would of waited a week or two
I've never played or experienced anything Digimon but I may have to check this game out with all the news around it finally coming.
That is a rough release date. That lines up with Xenoblade 3 on the same day and I'm sure that will suck the air out of the room unless Digimon Survive blows away expectations. That is a tough, tough release date.
Good! But... Xenoblade...
I personally don't care about Xenoblade in the slightest so this will be a day one buy for me!
Ouch right next to Xenoblade 3 LOL, well I know which one i'm getting.
