Re: Nintendo Download: 30th August (Europe)

@SBandy I understand where you are coming from but keeping digital games at full price years after a game has been released is not necessary. Nintendo do this. The only reason these have discounted is because they want online adopters. Anyway it’s silly arguing about great games. Enjoy however you want and have a great weekend playing 👊.

@SBandy it’s 39 on base.com- then you have potential resale money in years to come.
I buy digital titles but never anything over £10. I don’t understand paying physical prices for digital games. However- each to their own.

Re: Review: Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition (Switch eShop)

Playing this on your own is zero fun. However myself and a friend played this together last night and spent about three hours on it before we knew it. We had an absolute blast. He took control and I was making handwritten notes of where and when the baddies appeared. Honestly it was a cracking two player experience. Yes you have to keep replaying the same scenes but improving your speed of moving room to room and setting the traps is great fun.
Get some beers and some mates- get a pen and paper old school style and have a bit of fun. We were in hysterics at the acting. After three hours we were only about half way through- about the 16 minute point. The only reason we stopped was that it was about 1 am.
I agree with the review entirely- 10 quid well spent.

Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

@BigKing I love Nintendo consoles and their games. For me they are the best games I have played in my 3 decades of game playing. (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Uncharted, Red Dead etc are a handful of exceptions- I know there are more but luckily I also have a PS4). However I agree with you completely on this issue. The eshop sales are laughable. Every now and again you get something good like Hollow Knight at 7 quid but on the whole it’s like 2-3 pounds off a game. Whereas on ps store I have recently bought two Wolfenstein games, alien isolation and windjammers. The combined price was near 20 pounds. Over on the eshop Zelda costs more than the physical edition. It’s nuts. I only buy games on the eshop which are less than a tenner. I can not justify paying over 30 for a game I may not be able to play one day. I mostly buy the arcade archives and Neo geo titles which I feel are fine at 6 pounds. I cannot understand anyone who defends Nintendo on this point.

Re: Miyamoto Calls On His Industry Peers To Deliver Games At Fixed Prices

@ConanLives not sure I agree with this. In fact I find Nintendo to be one of the most unfriendly companies towards consumers. We ha e one Switch in our house and it will remain that way. We have two PS4s and I’m considering buying a third. Why? The pS4s are financially more viable for a family. At present we have one psplus subscription but both my children can access any of the monthly games. Not only that, any digital games bought on one system can be downloaded at the same time to another. Not with the Switch. If, let’s say, both my children wanted to download the same game onto two Switches, I’d have to buy the digital games twice. That isn’t family friendly. Family Sharing is. This is something Nintendo have never offered. As a Nintendo consumer I have literally hundreds of digital games locked to my Wii U. In the far future, if that machine breaks and cannot be repaired anymore then they are gone. I have games that I’ve purchased on our PS4s that can be played across them and a Vita- at the same time. It’s something about Nintendo that really angers me.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services

@Archius9 we had no WiFi over the weekend. My eldest didn’t know what to do. He had nothing to watch as all ha watches is YouTube and Netflix. All the games he plays are online focused with minimal offline options. I produced dozens of dvds and I have hundreds of games on cart/disc that don’t require online anything. He actually got on board with the dvds but the games were a no go. I honestly believe we are facing a future where a whole generation have been brainwashed into believing the way certain game companies go about their business is absolutely fine. As a teacher, I am also baffled at how the majority of children now spend their pocket money on V bucks or FIFA points. It’s all they talk about. It sickens me. They honestly don’t see that they are spending money on nothing. That’s the mentality the games companies are aiming their wares at now. It’s sad.

Re: Diablo III Will Run At 60fps In Docked And Portable Mode On Nintendo Switch

darthstuey

@Cobalt I was playing those games on the real system last night but that isn’t going to stop me getting a few for portable play. I use my switch mainly undocked so if a game is on PS4 and Switch, I would prefer it on Switch. Each to their own though. I’m desperately trying to work through my Switch backlog of over 50 ga,es so I can justify buying Octopath- I can’t wait to play that. 👊

Re: The Euro Nintendo Summer Sale Continues With Up To 80% Off Lots Of Switch And 3DS Games

darthstuey

@electrolite77 so do you think we can expect to see Mario Kart 8 on the eshop for £10 next year? I think not. The sales on the Wii U were always a joke and they aren’t much better on the Switch. Although truth be told there has been the odd bargain in the 18 months it’s been around.
Take Gorgoa- 7.99 in the sale. I can get it on my iPad for 4.99.
The problem is that a lot of the shop prices are so high to begin with that when a sale happens, even with 50% off it doesn’t seem great. I picked up two Wolfenstein games for 4 quid each the other month on the ps store and the recently released Mega Man collection was a tenner for both collections.
I’m a Nintendo gamer through and through but I cannot defend their eshop practices.

Re: Review: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (Switch)

darthstuey

@Pazuzu666 I hate FPS games like call of Duty where all you do is run around and shoot 12 year olds online but I’ve played Wolfenstein The Old Blood on PS4 and it is excellent. It has a solid, enjoyable single player story som I’m assuming this is much the same. I’ll be getting it but no way in hell am I paying £50 quid for it. I can get it for PS for about 20. 30 quid just to play on handheld- I’ll cope.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th June (Europe)

darthstuey

I refuse to pay 50 quid for a game I can get got less than 20 on other systems. Also when are the eshop sales actually going to be worth it🤔 I picked up Pac-Man championship edition 2 on ps store for about three quid the other day. The complete Mega Man collection- that’s 1 and 2- can be bought for 8 pounds on there. It is very rare there is an actual real bargain on the Nintendo store.
Another Neo geo game for me then.

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Donkey Kong (Switch eShop)

darthstuey

I can’t believe that people are complaining about the price of this. It’s less than a pint and a half of quality beer. I’ve put hours into it since it was released on Friday as it’s one of my fav high score chasers but boy am I rusty. I’ve only managed 41600 😱 so far. Why anyone who isn’t in to old school arcade high score chasing would buy it though is beyond me- it’s completely clear what type of game this, and all other arcade archive titles are. For me personally, this has been one of the most important releases on the Switch to date.

@Anti-Matter I honestly can’t make up my mind if you are some kind of genius whi]o has created this bizarre alter ego who’s super power is the hate 18 rated games or your just about the saddest person who ever existed. Whatever it is please shut up. You have become beyond boring and in all truth you sound like a certifiable mental patient. I’m sure in ten years there will be a film about how you went on a killing rampage in the office of Bethesda or Rocksteady whilst proclaiming how you are saving their evil souls from their wrong doings. Please just go away.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st May (Europe)

darthstuey

@Rayquaza2510 I’ve never seen a physical game more expensive than an eshop game. In fact when I’ve checked they’ve always been cheaper which is why I don’t understand people paying 40-50 quid for a digital game.
