Update (Fri 24th Sep, 2021 12:30 BST): Anybody who pre-orders Metroid Dread or any bundle featuring the game from My Nintendo Store UK will now automatically be entered into a prize draw to win one of 10 Metroid Dread accessories bundles which, as you can see above, look to include a bespoke swish wired controller and Switch carry case emblazoned with Samus in her Dread guise.
Anybody with an existing pre-order from this outlet will automatically be entered into the draw, so don't worry if you placed a pre-order months ago.
Original post: Less than three months remain until Metroid Dread blasts onto Nintendo Switch, and if you've been thinking about grabbing a pre-order, now might be the perfect time to strike.
The My Nintendo Store in the UK has revealed that all pre-orders of the game will now come with a special gift bundle. By picking up either the standard or special edition, you'll also be treated to a free keyring, poster and sticker sheet. Neat.
All pre-orders that have already been made – for either version – will be upgraded to receive the gift bundle. If you're yet to pre-order, you can do so below, although the store only has the standard edition in stock at the time of writing.

If you're keen to keep an eye on stock for the special edition of the special amiibo launching alongside the game, you might want to bookmark our Metroid Dread pre-order guide.
Are you going to be playing this one when it launches on 8th October? Let us know in the comments.

Just a note, you can currently pre-order the special edition from GAME. Very useful as I had difficulties with the UK Store in the past few days. Not a fan of how they operate after the rehaul.
Cool, neat. Still had to order the amiibo separately from GAME though.
Nintendo UK Store has this really weird practice of having delayed pre-orders, and only adding things onto pre-orders like SteelBook editions closer to launch.
Ya know, practices that punish you for pre-ordering early from other places, which are usually also cheaper.
@RupeeClock I am kind of hesitant to pre-order from Nintendo UK Store now. Used to be pretty cool with them even if they weren't always the cheapest option. But their current system has given me grief with the fact that they cannot change payment information for existing orders, so I have been screwed out of some MH Stories 2 amiibos that I apparently could not pay for.
I want those damn stickers!!!!
@MS7000 Agreed! Their backend systems are a joke, they won't allow people to update their payment method for existing orders
@MS7000
Uh oh, I better contact support about that then.
I was having difficulties placing my Metroid Dread special edition pre-order and had to specify a debit card that will expire in August.
Obviously no good for a payment they'll try to take in October.
Sweet I'm getting extra stuff!
Hope they will upgrade the existing pre-orders.
I still order from them, but since they change the warehouse/website and contractors there has been a lot of weird thing happening. I'm not even sure I will receive my SS preorder and the SS Joycons..
@RupeeClock If your experience is anything like mine, they will tell you that they cannot change payment method, and that if they cannot obtain payment via your current method, then they will cancel the order entirely without giving you a choice to pay with an alternative. The only thing that you could do was ask them to cancel the order so that you can redo the order should it become available again. The "one per customer" thing kind of sucks in this scenario. Good luck!
@MS7000
Yup, I was just in contact with their support and they were equally unhelpful.
The new My Nintendo Store sucks hard, like, really hard. Their ordering system is terrible and falls beneath customer expectations for placing and managing orders.
As a die hard Metroid fan living in the US who wasn’t even able to pre-order the deluxe edition or even the amiibo set because they all sold out, this is more just salt in the wound.
@RupeeClock Sorry to hear it. If you can, then try GAME as I said earlier as they do seem to have pre-orders available still.
I got screwed because my card only just got changed after expiring. I would of used an alternative payment, but as you know with Nintendo, pre-orders don't allow time to arrange alternatives or ask someone else to purchase on your behalf. Makes me pine for the Hut Group to manage the store again. Or for Nintendo to manufacture to pre-orders rather than make limited numbers.
@RupeeClock Yup I had exactly the same problem and experience you've just had, they told me the only thing I could do was to cancel the special edition order and place the order again with different payment details. I told them no I cannot do this because the item is now out of stock on your store and probably won't be coming back in stock at all. So they just said "well nothing we can do then, bye"
Absolute joke of a store and customer service. I'll never be ordering from them again and I'm advising everyone I can to avoid them like the plague
@Synnnapse I do wonder how many others are having the problem as well... how many people will be screwed by this before it changes or whatever. Well, at least we know now I suppose.
Sweet, just make this possible in the German store and all ~1.000.000 german Metroid fans are happy.
@MS7000
Yup, I've gone ahead and placed that Metroid Dread Special Edition pre-order with GAME now. I'm very lucky that they're still accepting orders.
Thankfully they accept Paypal, which bafflingly My Nintendo Store do not, so that is a secure payment option that I know will work by October.
The downside to the GAME pre-order is there's a shipping charge, and I'll miss out on, uh, a key chain, a poster, and a sticker set.
I should add, My Nintendo Store do accept Google Pay, but I was not able to use it at the time as I didn't have it set up yet.
It takes Google Pay 2-3 days to get it connected to your bank account, which is no good when there's only a few hours to place a pre-order.
Happy with the £36 ebay price I got. I’m surprised how quickly the special edition sold out though as I can’t see what is so great about it for that price. Maybe if it was £60 but £80? Maybe i’m missing something.
@MS7000 @RupeeClock I'm actually holding out for GAME all of a sudden saying "All existing pre orders get the keychain, poster and stickers!"
A similar thing has happened with multiple releases in the past, most recently Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Skyward Sword all of a sudden got pre-order bonuses. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened, then we'll be laughing
@RupeeClock Yeah, I noticed GAME wanted £5 for the privilege of shipping. Most other retailers give you free delivery for pre-orders, but there you go. It is a bummer about losing the poster and key chain though... not too bothered about the stickers.
@Synnnapse That would be good. Hopefully it will happen.
@Synnnapse
Well, it'll be nice if GAME do end up getting the pre-order bonuses too as they tend to have overlap with Nintendo UK store.
But it's not as important as getting the special edition itself.
@MS7000
Yeah, it's nice that My Nintendo Store still offers free shipping on orders over £20, but annoying that GAME has to charge a minimum on shipping.
Circumstances now that I have three separate orders for the amiibo, for Metroid Dread, and the Switch OLED all from GAME, with a separate shipping charge. I've sent their customer support an email in the hope that they can combine these orders to save on shipping charges but I'm expecting it's unlikely.
Must be trying to boost pre-orders. Wonder if the numbers are lower there than other markets?
@Kilamanjaro
It's part of a marketing campaign. It's effective to provide multiple reminders that you're accepting pre-orders for an upcoming product, but to also try and entice customers who were on the fence.
Nintendo UK Store have a history of taking pre-orders later than other retailers, but then a bit later adding on bonus items like key rings, SteelBooks, sticker sheets, posters, water bottles, pin badges, all sorts really.
I'm still hoping they'll get more of the Special Edition in, I was too slow in pre-ordering and now they're all gone. I'm not going to pre-order the regular edition until I'm certain I won't be able to get the SE.
@BulkSlash
In case you missed it: https://www.game.co.uk/en/metroid-dread-special-edition-2861575
@RupeeClock you could try Argos for the Oled Switch as that has free shipping, also try Simply Games for the Special edition Metroid, also free shipping 👍🏻 can't help with the Amiibo though as that's sold out everywhere!
@Waa-Laa
Well I already have all three of those securely ordered with GAME now, so no need to order elsewhere.
That tip about Argos is good though, Nintendo Life should know about that for their Switch OLED pre-ordering guide.
Excellent, pre-ordered the special edition a while ago
@RupeeClock Thank you! 🙏 I had missed that. I’m sure I checked there the other day too! 😅
Or try this site if you don't fancy shipping costs.
https://www.simplygames.com/p/metroid-dread-special-edition-nintendo-switch
I've used them before so they're legit.
@RupeeClock I get that from a marketing perspective as well. I just want these too!
Yeah, that tat isn't worth paying an extra £7+ for.
Only for those living in UK anyone else forget trying unless you use forwarding but that would raise the price even more.
I'm wondering if at any point these keyrings and posters will be Platinum Points rewards. I'm not preordering because I'll probably just go to the nearest GAME or something on the day
Nervous about low sales, a poster and key ring should clinch things, and mitigate the the £50 price tag, not.
@MS7000
Thanks for the heads up, I double checked and my bank card expires in august so have pre ordered from game too in case it all goes wrong with my Nintendo order
Oh cool, it doesn't seem like any of that stuff is coming to Japan, even though I spent a lot more money on my preorder than you people in other countries did. Especially the people who didn't preorder it!
@BenGrimm Not a problem, good to know you got one despite Nintendo Store's misgivings.
@Synnnapse @RupeeClock @MS7000 The "new & improved" My Nintendo Store completely effed up my Skyward Sword amiibo order last week, couldn't take payment for some bizarre reason and now I'm sitting in limbo with an order which is 'processing' and wondering if anything will ever happen with it. The agent claimed they were escalating it but I've heard nothing since Friday so who knows, and now I can't add a new payment method to my account for some bizarre reason linked to the fact I have an outstanding pre-order (Metroid Dread SE) and I'm massively worried that will fail in October just like my amiibo order did... No idea why that order failed (CS agent suggested it might be due to having multiple preorders at once, which is bloody ridiculous) but the systems in place in that store are shockingly bad.
I'm glad I've found all of you having issues too because I thought I was the only one!
@Otoemetry sorry to hear you're having exactly the same problems we've all experienced with regards to missing out on pre-orders, not sure if they've still got them available, but Game UK still had stock of the Metroid Dread SE when I last checked so if you quickly snag one on there you can safely cancel your order at My Nintendo Store
@Synnnapse ah thanks for the reply, I'm sorry you've had the same experience too!
I've just preordered the Metroid Dread SE from simplygames.com as they have free shipping, but thanks for the tip about GAME. Sadly I will likely have missed out on the amiibo as everywhere is sold out of both the Zelda & Metroid ones, and I really don't want to risk using the My Nintendo Store when they finally put the Metroid amiibo up for pre-order.
What a flipping s***show eh?!
I don't care for these accessory prizes, but even now I still cannot place pre-orders with Nintendo UK Store because they haven't fixed their payment systems!
The only payment method that does work is PayPal, and they refuse that method for pre-orders!
Other web stores are significantly cheaper and still offering the free gifts.
@iammikegaines Is it those scalper bots again?
How long until they make those things illegal to use, ugh.
@Chamver you can find them on mercado libre here in mexico: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-962351621-metroid-dread-con-pack-de-pin-o-calcamonias-kokorito-game-_JM. Don't know if they ship overseas
Why not in the US too! 😑
Heads up, both the controller and case are available for pre-order in the US via Amazon. Got my orders in for both!
