@CharlieSmile You must be joking or just want the attention with a comment like that. So we should stop writing books about men too? Maybe we can go and rewrite a male version of Alice in Wonderland to be safe? We can call it Alan in Wonderland.

Absurdity.
Also, it's ok because although the male protagonist identifies primarily as male, he cross dresses on Tuesday nights and attends feminist rallies. So you should really play it since you're a feminist.

Re: Review: Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes - A Stylish Return For The Otaku Hitman

Wait and see what the gamer review metas say when the game comes out. This game doesn't interest me at all though.

For me, critic reviews are never to be trusted. Have to see for one's self.

I understand the series is well loved, but in my mind, and purely on face value, it looks to me like Suda tried to make NMH3, kept development relatively quiet because he couldn't replicate the magic of the previous games and landed on this somewhere in between game instead.

Re: VLC Media Player Being Considered For Nintendo Switch

bolt05

I dont want VLC on my switch,, im lukewarm to the possibility of netflix.

VLC is old news now streaming services are affordable.

My Nintendo Switch is a gaming console. Not a bloomin tablet! Those are what my kids toss about the living room and slowly destroy over a 1-18 month period, before they are replaced by the next $100 galactical tab-tastic banapple super computers.

At least this is how my mid-thirties brain sees the tablet market.

Re: Dead Cells Sold More Than 100,000 Copies In Its First Week On Nintendo Switch

bolt05

This is on my to buy list, but so is the messenger. I just got shining resonance and tales of vesperia so it might have to wait a little longer. Not to mention I'm still playing Celeste and into the breach and moonlighter, and slain... I never did finish botw, and I have some games to play on the megadrive classics collextion... Soooo much backlogged.

Re: Blaster Master And Zelda II Arrive On The Switch Online NES Service This Month

bolt05

@MeloMan haha yes we did. 😀 I also agree with your analysis of NS online. It's a pity and a shame that Nintendo is drip feeding nes games. I guess that's how they value $20 or $30 as it is in Aussie dollars per year.

Oh and I fired up my Wii virtual console and got to mist town moscon over the Xmas break. Never a bad time to play faxanadu! Such a great game. The colours and sounds and almost gothic or Geiger like art style of the monsters/dwarves is awesome.

Re: Talking Point: What's Next For Nintendo After Switch?

bolt05

Nintendo has created a marketplace for indie Devs that is without rival, they are shifting embarrassing numbers of quality 3rd party games on the switch compared to Sony, steam and Microsoft. PC gaming is up the proverbial creek due to nvidias greed and only Nintendo innovates. What they do need is a streaming service for legacy Nintendo classics from nes up to GameCube and a stable platform for continued new releases going forward. I would pay a nintyflix sub if they had a deep library of great 1st and importantly 3rd party classics, like Faxanadu. Gee Gimmie Faxanadu and wizards and warriors 3 down a HDMI cord already!

Re: Random: Fans Ask Nintendo To Revive Super Mario RPG's Geno And Mallow In Online Petition

bolt05

@hatch So lets break it down.

Google tells us: Narcissistic entitlement refers to a belief that one's importance, superiority, or uniqueness should result in getting special treatment and receiving more resources than others. ... Narcissistic entitlement also includes a willingness to demand this special treatment or extra resources.

Writing a petition and getting it signed by like minded individuals requesting some characters in a video game doesn't fit the bill in my book.

Re: Random: Fans Ask Nintendo To Revive Super Mario RPG's Geno And Mallow In Online Petition

bolt05

@hatch I think you're wrong to call a petition seeking something to happen as entitled in any way. It's not exactly a letter of demand and it's a process that is generally fundamental to any democratic process. It's simply a vote with absolutely no power. Probably the complete opposite to any form of entitlement in reality.

Entitlement would be buying smash Brothers then seeking a refund because it doesn't have the characters you want in it.

Re: Reminder: Brutal Roguelike Caveblazers Is Coming To Switch eShop On 10th January

bolt05

@Rastos comments are opinions, negative opinions are relevant. So if we have negative opinions we can't voice them? That's called an authoritarian regime, not a fair and equitable democratic society which is what the free internet is all about.

Your comment is also nonsense, you claim our opinions don't matter because the world doesn't revolve around one's own point of view yet voice your own point of view in the same sentence.
Everyone has their own perspective on the world, opinion, and taste, especially in something so utterly trivial as what type of video game they like or dislike. Of course we are going to use the comments forum to voice as such, this is why it exists in the first place. Geez Louise. How dare we criticises something to do with Nintendo games on a Nintendo website, stop the internet!!!

Re: Feature: Reader's Choice Game Of The Year 2018 Results

bolt05

@gcunit World of Warcraft, Fortnite, Zelda BoTW, Coven of Dusk, not to mention all of the final fantasy games that are still being played decades later.

I dont think that Smash has any serious longevity outside of tournament play and ultra fans of the franshise. I think it's quick and dirty fun that just wont last and yes i'm dirty that it made game of the year for what it is.

That's my opinion, which is the point of this comments section.

So many great indie games this year to choose from, with time and ehart and soul poured into them and a bloomin smash game gets no. 1... pretty sad.

Having said that, it will only be Nintendo news websites where this happens. So whatever im ok with it. In the rest of the gaming nation other games will win overall goty.

Re: Feature: Reader's Choice Game Of The Year 2018 Results

bolt05

Eh smash Brothers. I know it sold well but how many will still be playing in 6 months time, I bet less than 1/4.

I also wonder how many people own the games they actually voted for or if they just voted for what they thought should win that catrgory... that would be interesting to know.

Re: Feature: How One Nintendo Christmas Shaped The Rest Of My Life

bolt05

Awesome article, I feel a little sorry for Mel b though, cheap shot when they aren't here to defend themselves right!? I remember our Nintendo Christmas. We got the new console with Super Mario Bros packed in. Then in the after Xmas sales we got a game genie and Zelda and Faxanadu. Then every year for about 8 yrs we got more games and a sega megadrive and games for that. We skipped snes unfortunately, but the Sega was good and got a PlayStation next.

In our little state of South Australia we could get a 5c refund on soft drink and beer and wine bottles so as kids we collected from our family and neighbours and about every 6 months we had enough for a game, and dad would usually double the money for us and make some such excuse to mum about a sale too good to refuse and bought us another game or two as well 😀. Fun times. Now I already have more switch games at 2 yrs into the consoles life than I had from the first decade of owning a nes console.

I wish they would rerun original carts. Make them 50 or 75% of the original size whatever but it would be so cool to buy them new again with instruction manuals and artwork and maps etc... Dreams...

Re: Review: Battle Princess Madelyn - An Aimless Adventure Redeemed By Its Fantastic Arcade Mode

bolt05

Nindies are so hit and miss. The arcade mode sounds redeeming. I'm sick of games that want to be a long and arduous metroidvania. Even Metroid and Castlevania have maps. I have played so many games with back unnecessary tracking which is ok when you have time, but as I get older I tend to skip games like that because I get a window of about 1-2 hrs maybe 3 nights per week to game and I don't like wasting that time on a nindies that thinks it's already a classic and worthy of my precious few hours. However arcade mode sounds doable for this one.

Re: Nintendo Grabs More Smartphone-Related Trademarks, This Time For Fossil Fighters, The Last Story And Wii

bolt05

Hmm I dont get why they would want a wii program for smartphone right now as it cuts their own lunch against the switch. Weird.

But, if this means sequels inbound to Switch, ima ll for it. Or even remasters of the original last story, I never played the original game.

I do however, have fossil fighters for DS and 3DS sitting on my shelf. They're a bit too niche and pokemon/monster hunter cloney to do well outside of japan though I tend to think. I dont think the yokai watch games sold too well over here (AUS) for reference.

Re: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom

bolt05

Dragons trap remake was great. I LOVE wonder boy in monster world on mega drive so hope this new game is as good. Monster world over with the female character lead is also exceptional, I only recently got it on the Wii eshop for the official English translation. Sooo good.

Re: People Are Review-Bombing Pokémon: Let's Go Across Major Sites, Amazon Japan Blocks User Scores

bolt05

@JaxonH nobody is required to demonstrate why they assigned a review score. They can leave their score and be done. I'm not defending the "review bombing" but I can understand it. Isn't this why most people ignore the user reviews and run with the critics, but then there's instances where the critics get it wrong and the user reviews are much better.

Thats why there are both included in the metas. Its also why I ignore all reviews and make up my own mind nowadays based upon the publisher and the polish I can see in marketing material before a game launch.

Don't most hardcore gamers pay attention to these things anyway? Casuals are going to buy let's go for their kids anyway so I doubt these scores will affect sales.

Crickey there's bigger issues in the world right now but players gonna play play play, Nintendo fans gonna write write write....

Re: People Are Review-Bombing Pokémon: Let's Go Across Major Sites, Amazon Japan Blocks User Scores

bolt05

@gameboy1975 so by your logic the scale should start at what 3, 5? If i think a game you assign a 10 to is rubbish and deserves a zero, guess what thats how the stoey is written. Its subjective, this is why user scores and critical reviewer scores both exist.

It looks to me like the vocal fanbase have spoken on this game... and they're not impressed. Its a valid response even if you disagree with it.

Re: People Are Review-Bombing Pokémon: Let's Go Across Major Sites, Amazon Japan Blocks User Scores

bolt05

Giving a 0 or a 10 for a review is certainly not immature, it's a valid review score.

I didn't expect let's go to score very well critically or publicly so I'm not surprised. I don't like the term review bombing, some said it was done to breath of the wild but I think that game was seriously over hyped and given far too many 10s so I would call that equally review bombing. Its just a matter of perspective.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with issuing a 0 on auser rated system, if the game was better it would receive substantially less zeros, yes??
