Re: Editorial: The eShop's Pricing Dilemma is the Fault of Many, But Damages Creativity and Risk Taking

Well the comments are a real warfare. It's always the same desperate troll using the same dishonest tricks: third party games don't sell on nintendo systems (the ones who do don't count because of reasons) it's because Nintendo fans are the great satan of videogames while sony and microsoft fans are angels very concerned about variety in videogaming, purposely ignoring the vita is dead and anything that doesn't cater to the COD and Fifa audience sell terribly on ps4 and Xbox One (but I guess it's Nintendo fans fault as always and it has nothing to do with the fact audience on other systems isn't as varied as he pretends). I don't understand why moderators tolerate him this much. His only purpose is to insult people and spread his hate under every article. It's the definition of a troll and nothing else. I guess his non Nintendo systems don't offer him that much games since he spends his life in the comment sections.

Just wanted to say Shin Megami Tensei 4 is one of the best JRPG on 3DS and the artstyle of demons' sprites is fantastic. Only a fool would miss this game.
But yeah, the eshop is very competitive and our wallets are limited. It's capitalism. Not everyone can win.

@Quorthon
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the best selling Monster Hunter game in the west. Yes it sold more in the west than any psp episode despite the 3DS market being much smaller than the psp. Nintendo fans support third parties when they reach Nintendo quality. Stop with your console war propaganda.

@Grumblevolcano
I think it has more to do with the fact a lot of people think the game is ugly (and it's not a matter of graphics). If Intelligent Systems want to make me buy this kind of game they better give it a better artstyle like the one from Advance Wars.
But at least Intelligent System tried. Now they know. I don't think it will hurt them since FE is doing great and the next one looks pretty cool

@Peach64
It sold terribly for a DQ game. If you add the ps3 and the ps4 versions you don't even reach 800K sales. And it was a big HD game heavily marketed in Japan. It probably cost a lot to make and it didn't make money. That's probably why then didn't mention it in their last financial report.
And don't expect them to sell very well in the west. Japanese games usually get crushed in the west on sony and microsoft systems.

"Hey let's not localize any Dragon Quest except this spin off on a sony system that sold so bad we didn't even mention it in our last financial report"

Sometimes I wonder if sony don't pay square-enix to not release in the west the DQ games on Nintendo systems

Once again you keep deflecting everything on Nintendo and Nintendo fans. Stop calling me a child when your obsession is so obvious. As if Konami and Kojima were perfect and didn't do any mistakes.
Kojima is the only one to blame for this terrible result. He thought he could get the COD audience just thanks to the word of mouth from his blind fanboys who can't stand any criticism about their god. It didn't work.
He turned Castlevania into a God of War clone. The first episode tricked a lot of nostalgic people. But then they realized the game was mediocre and the sequel failed.
He released a Zone of the Enders HD compilation to bring a new audience to the series for a sequel. It failed.
He released a Silent Hill HD compilation to bring a new audience to the series for a sequel. It failed.
He released a Metal Gear HD compilation to bring a new audience to the series for a sequel. It failed.
What happened is simple. Konami executives realized Kojima is a clown completely out of touch and they fired him. First good decision since a very long time. But I'm afraid it's too late to recover their audience.
Meanwhile Nintendo keep selling millions games. Konami don't and will probably leave the console market very soon. But keep acting as if it was all Nintendo fault. It will sure help Konami. They're so lucky to have a smart fanbase like you

@Superryanworld

Konami isn't just a 3rd party like Activision. It's a 3rd party that had a long history of partnership with Nintendo. WiiU support from them would have make sense and maybe it would have turn out well for them and give a better image of the WiiU and create a virtuous circle effect. Lot of WiiU owners fondly remember the good old Konami games.
But Kojima decided Nintendo fans weren't good enough for their games. Fine. We see the great result now. Don't blame Nintendo for Konami's mistakes.
And please don't talk about Nintendo loosing relevance in an article about Konami. The last Smash Bros sold 9 millions copies on 2 systems. How much Ground Zeroes sold on 5 systems? lol

@ericwithcheese2

Dude everytime something bad happens to Nintendo we see plenty of people rejoicing everywhere on the internet. Who am I supposed to be? Jesus? Lol. Konami took bad decisions and now they're in a bad situation. I won't cry for them.

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

@thatguyEZ

Lot of the games I listed were lazy ports released on the ps3 and 360 and didn't sell very well. A WiiU port of them wouldn't have cost much and would have helped to create a market. Win win situation. Konami decided to not to but at least they could try. Maybe they wouldn't be in the terrible situation they are now.

Also your nitpicking and generalization are really dishonest. Codename Steam got terrible reviews. Bad sales because of this happen on all systems. I could also nitpick Gravity Rush which according to vgchartz has only be bought by 5% of vita owners and claim sony fans "in general don't want new things"
Sony fans keep repeating their propaganda against Nintendo fans but they don't even realize they're as bad, maybe worse than them.

But go on keep blaming the Nintendo fans for everything. I'm sure it will be totally Nintendo fans fault when MGS5 will be crushed by COD, Fifa, Halo, Star Wars, Just Cause 3 and Tomb Raider

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

@Superryanworld

The fact that "everyone did the same" is never an excuse. Konami lived their golden age during the NES-Snes era. Then they made lot of great games on the N64 that were quite popular and suddenly they decided Nintendo gamers weren't good enough for their games.
Fine, now the new audience they aimed for decided their games weren't good enough for them. Karma is a b****

There is no point to blame Nintendo here. Konami is responsible of the situation they are now. And they'll have to face the consequences. And I'm pretty sure Nintendo is still a more dominant force in gaming than Konami don't worry for that

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

bitleman

@thatguyEZ

Maybe I would buy it. Maybe not. Maybe I own other systems but I prefer playing games on the WiiU. The thing is Konami don't let me the choice. They're the one to blame here. Not me. During the last years Konami released a MGS, ZOE, Silent Hill collection, Lord of Shadow 2, many PES and Silent Hill games. None of them was on the WiiU.
They didn't release Metal Gear Revengeance while Bayonetta's success showed there is an audience for this kind of game on the machine.
The only noticeable game they made for Nintendo systems lately was Mirror of Fate which definitely didn't meet Nintendo standards of quality.
Konami thought they would live forever with the call of duty audience on sony/microsoft systems. Look like their plan had a flaw. Once again they're the only one to blame here. When Konami released exclusives on NES, SNES and N64 we were there to support them. They betrayed us. I won't cry on their grave. Good riddance

Oh and the fact Konami fired Kojima definitely shows the last games of the series didn't meet the sales expectations. So don't act as if MGS games were a must buy for many people. You sound like a fanboy

Re: Konami Removes Its Listing from the New York Stock Exchange

bitleman

During the ps2 era Konami was the 4th biggest japanese publisher behind Nintendo, Sony and Square, and was in the 10 biggest publishers worldwide.
Now Konami is nothing. They aren't even in the top 30. Nothing sell except Metal Gear and Metal Gear is far from selling very well compared to their golden era
