The past week was rather exciting for fans of Castlevania and Koji Igarashi's work, as Igarashi-san launched a teaser site teasing a spiritual successor, allowing curious fans to choose between a pixelated sword or whip - if this isn't a Castlevania-style project, we'll be amazed.
Expected to arrive on Kickstarter - retro-themed crowdfunding is all the rage right now - we now have a timeline for learning more about this game; it seems Comcept is involved, too. The Mighty No. 9 studio and home of Keiji Inafune has emailed its followers with the following image.
Kinda Funny Games is a hugely successful - and crowdfunded - video and podcast channel of former IGN staffers, including Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty. As for Comcept's role, it may just be supporting Igarashi-san by making sure its fans know what's happening, or it could be involved directly in the project.
In any case all should become clearer at 11am Pacific / 2pm Eastern / 7pm UK / 8pm CET. Are you excited for the reveal?

Huh. That's sooner than I expected. I look forward to finding out about it on Tuesday morning because like hell am I watching an 8 hour broadcast.
At this point I'm not sure if I want Concept involved, but otherwise this has got me more excited than Yooka-Laylee. I love Iga's work.
Super excited for this. I'm making this stream an event.
I'm really curious to see just what IGA was busy with all this time. Well, not much longer until we know.
@PanurgeJr I second that.
its cool to see kinda funny become a real player in the video game reporting arena. i dont listen to or watch any of their shows but i do dig the lets plays they do.
SO EXCITED!
I still need to buy the Castlevania games on the Wii U E-Shop. Gotta get on that ASAP!
All these OG IP creators parting ways and breaking ties with their megabudget development teams and publishers, and it seems like Kickstarter is allowing them to press forward and preserve their more conservative formulas and ideas.
It's a good thing. For a long time these guys were held hostage by their publishers, having nowhere else to go and being forced to modernize to mass appeal. Downside is they don't have the dollars behind them that they did with a major publisher, so the games tend to be a little more indie than AA or AAA
And here I thought that email was a bad link or a virus or something. Nice that we will see more soon.
Huh, I'm a backer for Mighty No. 9 and never got the email. Would have missed it. Can't wait for the big reveal.
I'll look at it after Mighty No. 9
THAT'S TOMORROW!!!
You know RE4 was one step from being another Castlevania. I would rather them or whoever just release the Dreamcast game that was canceled.
Gotta be honest, after playing Tanks VS Bugs, I lost a lot of faith in Comcept. Hopefully Mighty No. 9 is as good as it looks. #TotallyOffTopic
I'm always up for some good ol' Castlevania goodness. :3
???:
We are meeting in the New World. An army of Igavania players and developers.
I'm intrigued to see what it could be.
I can only imagine the castlevania snobbery that will ensue - myself included. Classicvania style like Adventure ReBirth or I don't give a flying darn. Oh, Igavania gushing over SotN? Already feeling the don't give a darn coming on :]
Sadly too close to Yooka Laylee's funding, I don't have money left to throw at this. Ah well, hope it does well and both of these make lots of money.
Oh......oh....Comcept....and there where no hoorays to be heard.
If a company can hype for a MegaMan clone into complete disinterest for a MegaMan fanboy of the first hour....well, lets say my hopes got hit by a Medusa head on one of these spinning platforms to stay with the theme...
Isn't this the third third time the reveal has been 'teased?'
Totally and utterly hyped for this. More so than any other game in recent memory! SotN is perhaps my all-time favourite game, and I loved the Metroidvanias on the GBA and DS. It was a sad time when Konami put a stop to those - they were practically a yearly event at one point!
Yes I am
So these are the developers of Azure Striker Gunvolt? Awesome game. Can't wait
The indie hype is all over, kids these days can only talk about the spiritual successor hype.
Let me explain this hype, it's were the creators of a once great game franchise decide to set up a indie company and start a kickstarters campaign to raise money for a spiritual successor of their once famous game because the company's that now own the rights (microsoft, capcom and konami) are treating the franchise like crap.
I love the IGA metroidvanias. Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia are wondrous. The most perfect examples of the genre (sorry Samus, you know I still love you). I hope Michiru Yamane will be on board to compose the music
PLEASE BE SWORD!!!
Castlevania is my all time favorite game series so yeah I'm really excited for the reveal.
I'll lose a good chunk of it if Comcept are the developers tasked with making the game though.
Looking forward to hopefully finding out whats going on with this game.
I actually despise "Kinda Funny Games". IMO, they take the fun out of gaming.
What's with people suddenly jumping ship with Comcept? Not too long ago, everyone seemed to love them. I'm still interested in Mighty No. 9, personally, and I'd like to see what else Comcept can do.
As for this, I'll definitely keep an eye out for the reveal. I doubt that I'll be watching the stream thanks to schoolwork, but I'm interested to see what will be revealed!
i found a hint 3 days ago about the 11th...
heard it here first folks.

@ekreig How have you not heard of Freedom Planet? Go play it! Now!!!
@Retro_on_theGo My email was in spam, haha. I was worried for a second.
Hope a Wii U goal is in the works. Not a leap considering Mighty No. 9 had Wii U in the plans.
