@Xenocity It's a market in a capitalist economy. Yes it's supposed to grow. If it doesn't it enters in a negative momentum and will attract less investors. The WiiU, 3DS, One and Vita were failures because they were unable to sell as much as their previous gen equivalent. The PS4 won't save this gen from being a failure. Konami already felt. Other actors of the industry will follow.

@luigifan624 The consoles market is shrinking and the western industry wants to destroy the japanese industry by any way. Since Nintendo is the biggest market opener for the japanese industry they are the priority target. Once Nintendo will be destroyed the rest of the japanese industry won't take long to follow.

@blackice85 It came late in the life of the Snes when 3D started to appear.
Also lot of people didn't realize it was a Metroid like game. They got the bad ending and thought the game was too short. Since the game was expensive (Capcom and Nintendo games were more expensive than the other Snes games) I guess that's why lot of people asked a refund.

@TheLastLugia The only lesson Capcom will learn with these results is they'll never make another Street Fighter ever again. It's a shame to see such a prestigious series dying like that because Ono is an incompetent idiot obsessed by cheap cashgrabs.

Toki Tori 2 is a great game. Anyone with a WiiU should try it. It's as good as the great eshop games like Shovel Knight or Fast Racing Neo IMO

Owned this game when younger. Loved it but now I would give it a 5/10. Visually it's great. The sprites and artworks are beautiful. But the gameplay is too poor and boring. It lacks pacing, especially compared to the Capcom/SNK games from this era and even Killer Instinct. Arksys did a great job at refreshing the series with the 3DS episode.

Remind me those mediocre 3D fighting games from Midway during the late 90's. Mortal Kombat, Biofreaks, Mace, Wargods. Can't believe Mortal Kombat is now the best selling fighting franchise while Capcom and SNK are basically dead. Something went really wrong in that genre.

It's normal the british industry want to ignore the handhelds. One of the leader of mobile gaming, King, is a british company. They have no reason to promote a competitor and would be happy if handhelds disappeared.

I thought the Resident Evil games on 3DS were also rated for adults only.
Also some scenes from SMT4 are some of the most creepy stuff I've ever seen in a videogame. It deserved a much higher rating in my opinion.

HD games means bigger teams working on the game which means more people knowing about the game which means more risks of leak. I doubt there will be any NX leak though. Even the majority of the people working at the Kyoto HQ probably don't know what it is.

@Megumi More like now the first Isaac sold well on WiiU, it's now magically powerful enough to run the sequel. It's always a matter of market. The developer of this game is a big drama queen.

@pandarino The comparison with Sony is irrelevant. Sony is an electronic giant. When they do cross buy it's done at pure loss. Making ports cost money and workforce from developers and beta testers (Sony has an entire studio who only does ports). That was always their tactics. Since we're much bigger than competition we take loss until competition die. Then we raise our price. That's why the PS3 was at $600, that's why the Vita had over expensive memory cards, that's why the PS4 has a paid online despite having the same quality as PS3's one. It's not a matter of who is good or evil, it's just companies using their strenghts to defend their interests. And again there are much better options on the eshop or psn than buying decades years old games from which origial developers don't get any money.

If you want to spend money on the eshop spend it for new games, not for old roms original developers won't get any money from. There are many talented developers who deserve success with their new games like Steamworld Heist or Fast Racing Neo.

People expecting Paper Mario to be the RPG series of Mario are completely delusional. Paper Mario stopped to be a RPG series since 10 years. It is now an action adventures series.
If you want to play a Mario RPG then play the Mario & Luigi games. These are the real Mario RPG series. And they have great 2D sprites work.

It looks as charming as Teslagrad. I never finished Teslagrad. Couldn't pass the mad scientist.

The sprites work on those games is fantastic.

Great series. Very inventive and funny. And unlike other rhythm games those one aren't QTE simulators. It's a pure rhythm game you can play with your eyes closed.

3D models will never have the charm of real sprites.

Except you need your thumb and your index to take advantage of the drift mechanics in Mario Kart. How would you do that on mobiles?

@banacheck Yeah Ultra Street Fighter IV broke audience records at EVO. Didn't change the fact it didn't even sell 1 million all versions combined according to Capcom. EVO exposure didn't stop Guilty Gear Xrd or KOF XIII to be big flops. EVO never created a peak in sales for any game. Don't be delusional. Tomorrow we'll get the japanese numbers for SF5. It's just funny how children think developers are limiting their market for free. They don't. Especially when most of those games end with few thousands sales.
Now those japanese third parties need see the bigger scheme and realize only Nintendo could offer them a welcoming market, since EA apologists only play western AAA. All they have to do is support Nintendo to give them a positive momentum. Sony is giving them a kiss of death and the japanese industry is dying.

@Mode7 Mario World is the theme that offers the most possibilities. In term of variety of ennemies and items it's one of the most complex 2D platformer ever made.

@Yorumi The poor performance of the Vita is all on Sony. They launched with safe sequels and unimaginative, unambitious games and no one wanted it. They started getting away from that and suddenly they start making a few sales. If Sony had actually tried to sell the system I don't know if they would have managed 3DS numbers but I bet it wouldn't look as dire as it does now and customer happiness and confidence would probably be up too.

Can't believe so much people bought a lazy Minecraft clone without online and sold 60 euros.
Let's hope it will tank in the west like Dragon Quest Heroes. Square-Enix deserve to be panned for that.

@LaCru79 That's completely wrong. Nintendo was as dominant on the NES and Snes as they are now. The only relevant third parties during those days were Capcom, Square and Konami. Konami is dead and Capcom and Square aren't doing very well either.
The dominant third parties these days are all AAA western developers. They were never relevant on Nintendo systems.

0 chance to happen. The Metroid franchise will die with the flop of Federation Force. Which was an attempt to save the franchise after the flop of Other M. Which was an attempt to save the franchise after Prime 3. There is zero chance that Nintendo give a HD budget to that series. It's too niche.

Learn to read. I never said Nintendo didn't lack variety. I'm just saying Sony is far from being the heaven fanboys claim they are because the marketing said so. Some genres only survive thanks to Nintendo. If Nintendo disappear those genres will die, which means less variety in gaming and you can be sure Sony will stop funding those cheaply made games no one care just to give ammo to their fanboys (do you really think Playsation all Stars Battle showed any respect to the Playstation brand?)
